My father-in-law has been at Ganarew for over a year now, he went through some traumatic experiences prior to living at Ganarew and had been in two previous "care homes". Both experiences left us feeling like we had no option but to care for him ourselves, which we tried to do. Unfortunately, his care and safety were above what we could handle at home, and with the aid of social services, we started to look at homes again. We were offered several places over a 4 month period and turned them down. Then we found Ganarew, made a call and went to visit. It instantly felt safe, welcoming and friendly. There was a distinctive "family" feel and all the residents and staff appeared to be happy and content. The rooms are well-equipped and the building is light, clean and comfortable. The care is exceptional and we know he is in safe hands. I really couldn't recommend Ganarew highly enough. The team make what is a hard decision for a family, easy, because you know they care about their residents.
Dad has been a resident for 8 months now and the staff are always attentive and kind. Dad does not always understand his own needs and can refuse care at times, staff have taken time to get to know him and learn the best way to help him. Whenever we've had any questions or concerns the staff have listened and acted upon them where necessary. He has always been treated with dignity and respect. As a family, we are very happy and confident in the care Dad receives.
Couldn't wish for more helpful and friendly staff, always pleasant on arrival and when leaving.
Brilliant in every way. The care is gentle, kind and loving. The staff are always to hand for help or advice. Mum is very happy here.
December marks a six-month period since my wife became a resident. Prior to this, my wife lived at home with me as her principal carer, she had become completely withdrawn, not engaging with anything or anyone, barely eating or drinking. My wife's dementia seemed to have taken hold completely and she did not have the will to fight it. After only 4 weeks at Ganarew, I could see a complete change in her outlook, she still had the dementia of course, but she was eating, drinking and engaging with other people and joining in with the various activities on offer. So here we are, six months on and the transformation is complete all thanks to the wonderful day and night carers, the overall management ethos, the activities team, the kitchen staff, cleaners right through to the maintenance and gardening staff and the external volunteers and performers. I know that my wife is in the best possible place to meet her needs in a safe caring environment. Thank you.
Ganarew House is a lovely home, staffed by caring and supportive staff. Mum is well looked after and I feel I can chat to them about her at any time. The food is good, rooms are comfortable and there is plenty of company and entertainment which is exactly what someone with Alzheimer's needs. It is nice to know she is safe and well looked after 24/7, thank you.
My Mum has now been living at Ganarew House for 6 months and what a transformation! Before she became a resident there, she would spend every day on the sofa, totally cut off from us. Due to her dementia, she wasn't communicating, eating or really drinking and I thought that she was coming to the end of her life. However, within days of being in Ganarew House, everything changed. It's like she 'woke up'. Suddenly she started talking again, eating, drinking, smiling and most of all living! And this is down to the expert care that she gets. Every need is taken care of, from nutrition to health, to activities, literally everything. One of the best assets is how much residents' families can integrate into that care package. My dad and I frequently visit and we receive a warm welcome every time. We are included in all decisions about my mum's care and are very much encouraged to be a part of her life. Thank you to all the staff, you really are amazing.
The home is always clean and tidy, with no smells. Although Mum does not take part in the entertainment we have seen her singing. The other residents love the variety. From what we have witnessed, Mum has been treated well.
The care afforded to my brother throughout his entire stay at Ganarew House has been first-class. All members of staff are kind and enthusiastic and this is consistent. Even though he struggles to communicate I know my brother feels that this is now his true home. Following a period of hospitalisation, the staff have worked tirelessly with all elements of my brother's rehabilitation. The duty doctor has also been superb.
The ambience of the home is one of warmth. The residents are content and very well cared for by angels with invisible wings. The food served is very appetising and those with difficulty eating are well-supported. The recent refurbishment has enhanced the property. The activities staff work hard with frequent trips out. The residents really enjoy the Thursday tea dance at Bridges. The communal singing is fun. The situation of the building is wonderful even though conveniently close to the A40 with lovely gardens and patio The premises are clean and hygienic. The best thing is the feeling of community getting as close to an extended family as is possible.
Ganarew House is a very welcoming establishment. The staff are friendly and obliging. The environment is kept to a very high standard and is always exceptionally clean. I have to give credit to the gardener too, the flower beds and hanging baskets are always immaculate and beautiful. The food is excellent with plenty of choice. Visitors are made welcome with refreshments and my Mum enjoys the variety of activities especially Bingo! I feel my Mum is looked after to a very high standard and she is very happy to be living her final years at Ganarew, which gives me peace of mind.
Our uncle has been at Ganarew for approx. 3 years now. In this time we have always found the staff to be wonderful and they have looked after him very well. We have found any health issues/changes have been dealt with quickly and efficiently and we have always been informed of any developments. We are very happy with his care and feel more relaxed in the knowledge that he is being looked after well and any little changes in health/moods are noted/noticed and acted upon.
On my first meeting of management and staff at the home it was apparent to me that the care and welfare of the residents is of the utmost importance to them. My mother who was a little reluctant in the beginning to giving up her independence settled in, in no time and is really enjoying her time there.
The staff have always been very caring and making life as bearable as possible for the residents. The food is excellent. No matter what the problems that of course happen at a dementia home, the staff are always professional and kind.
My Mother has been at Ganarew House for the last 7 months and I'm very pleased with the level of care all the staff have provided. The staff have shown compassion, thoughtfulness and understanding in the complex needs my mother requires. When we visit staff always look happy and will engage in conversation with you. This makes it much easier to ask questions regarding my mother. We can not fault in any way the standard of care my mother receives.
Ganarew House and the staff have been the biggest lifeline for us. My mum is diagnosed with frontal lobe dementia which is challenging for us as a young family. Ganarew provides a safe and warm environment where all my mum's needs are met with the utmost kindness and patience. The home is welcoming for us all as a family including our young children. And the other residents are a joy to be around. The activities organised are a nice bonus, and the staff all make such an effort to make the house feel like a home. The building itself it's so beautiful and newly decorated. The food we have been told by Mum is better than a 5-star hotel and always goes above and beyond for Mum's diet as she is coeliac. This is everything we would ever want in a care home and are truly grateful this is the place Mum gets to call home.
Mum was a resident at Ganarew House for 18 months prior to her passing. During this time the staff were fantastic and always treated Mum with dignity and respect. I was always made to feel welcome when visiting and the staff were more than happy for me to bring my dog up for visits. Overall, Ganarew House care home is a lovely home to place a loved one but the decor and rooms could do with refreshing.
Ganarew House is outstanding, they have been since my mother moved in earlier this year they have gone above and beyond for all of us to make us and my mum and even our children feel welcome. We have been able to use the ground outside to have family picnics and allow the children to play. All the staff are friendly and after our first visit, it was remarkable how many staff members knew who we were when coming to visit. We have never had to make appointments to visit, we have just turned up and always been greeted with a warm welcome. This is one of the most amazing care homes I've experienced and I'm sure my mum would also say that she is like a different woman, happy and content.
Ganarew House has given exmeplary care and support for my mother following a stroke ten years ago. As my mother gets more frail and more dependant on the care given by the home, the home has kept us informed of her condition, doctors visits, hospitalisation and changes in the drugs she in son. Note my mother never wanted her life to end this way.
The staff have shown a lot of care and attention to my mother since she has been in the home. This has continued even when my mother has been nasty and insulting towards staff. Nothing is ever too much trouble for them, the open-door policy makes the environment very welcoming and friendly, which makes the visits more relaxing and a nicer experience.
