View Full Details of West Bank Residential HomeHaving been a registered nurse for fifteen years and previously working in many care/nursing homes - I can say I have never seen more dedicated and caring staff than there are at West Bank. Staff continuously go above and beyond to make the home warm and inviting. Residents have access to many activities and all seem happy and settled. The home is clean and welcoming. All staff are friendly and exceptionally caring and professional.
Our mother has improved so much since being in West Bank Residential Care Home for four weeks' respite. The activities really helped her dementia which resulted in giving her confidence in life. Can't thank the staff enough for all their help, care and comfort for Mother, any time of day or night.
My husband has had respite three days a week and now is a full resident. He loves it there - great staff, great activities and an all-around happy and well-cared-for experience.
From the first time I went into the home, I realised my husband was in the right place. He was always treated with respect despite being rather awkward at times and he got attached to many of the staff. During his last week, nothing could have been done in a better and caring way. All the family are truly grateful to all concerned.
My father had been at West Bank Residential for roughly 2 years before he passed away. I cannot fault the professionalism of the staff, they were kind, considerate, caring, respectful to both my father and our family. They were always willing to help with any questions or problems we had. West Bank was a home away from home for Dad and all staff were classed as family. Cleanliness of the home was spotless, there was always someone cleaning, even with an extendable feather duster. The activities were fantastic with something going on for all, from relaxation, music, fitness/sport, wellbeing, craft, religion. I would highly recommend West Bank to anyone looking to use for either respite or full time care. Thank you.
Staff are so dedicated, loving and kind. The activities on offer at West Bank are second to none (absolutely amazing). The home is very comfortable and just feels like one big family. Food is very good. Residents can walk around freely, go outside in the garden when they want to which I think is so important! My dad was resident at West Bank until he passed away 26th November 2024 and I wouldn't have wanted him to be anywhere else.
West Bank has been amazing for Mum and myself! She was admitted on respite from a hospital stay in April, and immediately settled so well that she has stayed long-term. At West Bank Mum is kept safe, her nutritional needs are met and her care is tailored to her needs. At West Bank the residents are treated as adults, able to make their own decisions and choices. There are a number of lounges which enables residents to choose what company and activity they want. Mum likes to be active and there are activities every single day, including weekends. There are regular trips out and Mum has been on a narrow boat trip, to garden centres, tea dances and concerts. Mum has a strong Christian faith. Whenever possible she is taken to church on Sundays, and the service is streamed to the home on days when they don't attend. The manager and staff are very approachable and never too busy to help.
My father has been staying at West Bank for some time now, and I couldn't be more pleased with the level of care and attention he's receiving. The facilities are modern, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed to meet the needs of residents with dementia. One of the standout aspects of the care home is the dedication and compassion of the staff. They are not only highly trained but also deeply invested in my father's well-being, taking the time to get to know him personally and cater to his individual needs. This has made a tremendous difference in his comfort and quality of life. Daily activities are varied and engaging, helping to keep the residents both mentally and physically active. Whether it's music therapy, art, or group games, there's always something going on to keep my dad entertained and stimulated, which we truly appreciate. The cleanliness of the home is also worth mentioning-it is impeccable.
Mum was accepted at extremely short notice in December 2022 following a sudden decline in health. We were extremely impressed by the way the home manager allowed us to visit the home. No appointment required, which was very different from other homes and we felt that this just went to show that the home had nothing to hide and that you could see what went on, on a typical day. The staff have been nothing but caring and helpful. We have seen a dramatic improvement in Mum's physical and mental health as she is no longer afraid of being alone or falling. There are daily activities if residents want to get involved. I would highly recommend West Bank, we have nothing but praise for everyone who works there.
Mum was in West Bank for five months. It was the safest, most caring and supportive place for her to be at the end of her life. We have nothing but praise fo the staff and everyone goes above and beyond to encourage residents to engage in a wide range of activities from sing-a-long to garden centre trips to tea parties.
My wife has just completed her first year in full-time residential care. She is content and happy and smiles a lot (staff and carers have commented on her demeanour). The stress was removed from her life and (at 83 this month) looks younger and her social confidence has returned. I am also greeted with a welcome whenever I visit, giving me the reassurance that my visits make a valid contribution to her wellbeing, when a dental crisis arose earlier this year, West Bank's immediate response resulted in the issue being resolved with new dentures within three weeks. She could not be in safer hands.
West Bank has a lovely homely feel to it. The staff are always cheerful, supportive and very caring. They go above and beyond to help my Mum, who is often confused and disorientated, demonstrating love and professionalism to reassure her and calm the situation coupled with a nice sense of humour. Thank you West Bank we very much appreciate all that you do. You are amazing.
West Bank has completely changed my idea of residential care. I was apprehensive for my mother-in-law to move into a home initially, but the transfer was very smooth. All of the staff are so friendly and caring. They treat my mother-in-law with such kindness and respect, regularly popping into her room for a chat. The weekly activities are varied and very well organised, there is always something fun to do! The food is lovely and well-presented. Tea and a selection of cakes are served every afternoon. The rooms are comfortable and well equipped and we were able to take her own recliner chair etc to make it feel like home. I can honestly say I look forward to going there. The staff are fast becoming friends and we are so grateful to them for the excellent care they provide. I would not hesitate to recommend West Bank to my friends and family. Thank you so much West Bank, we would never have navigated this very difficult time without you all.
My dad has been in West Bank since February 2023. I have seen a big change in my dad as the staff are amazing and all look after him as if he was one of their own. The weekly activities are fantastic and the food is excellent.
My mum-in-law has been a resident at West Bank for 10 months and I cannot fault the excellent care that she has received at all times. Staff really do go above and beyond for all of their residents whether it is Management, Care, Activity, Kitchen, Cleaning or Maintenance staff. The health care she has received has been second to none. West Bank also really does feel like a home. I have only seen residents treated with great kindness and respect. Residents are very much made to feel part of a community with a busy programme of excellent activities, entertainment and trips out. The building and gardens are immaculate and beautifully kept and I love how West Bank embraces celebrations for its residents such as Christmas, The Coronation and national sporting events. West Bank is a benchmark for how all residential homes should be. Thank you to all the fabulous staff.
Dad came to West Bank for respite after he was let down by his home care. He was adamant that he wanted to return home. Having experienced the excellent staff, care, activities and facilities for a couple of months he has realised his quality of life is much better at West Bank. There is a lovely family atmosphere which extends to us as a family as well as to Dad. Each time I visit Dad is much brighter and I can leave him with peace of mind.
Just a short message to thank all the staff at West Bank for caring for my wife during her very long illness. My wife is at peace now and will be buried alongside her mother in Lombardstown Co Cork Ireland. The care provided at Westbank could be described as wonderful.
West Bank Residential Home has met the changing needs of my friend for the last 4 years of her life. During that time her needs changed as her health deteriorated and dementia developed but the service provided has always been personalized to respond to each of the changes and respect demonstrated at every stage. There is a very tangible sense of community within the home, good teamwork and communication is continuously evidenced, and the ability to retain and develop experienced, long-term members of staff is a testament to the excellent management of the service. Staff are always welcoming, helpful and supportive to family and friends, who are communicated with face to face, through social media and newsletter. There is a continuous and lively program of activities provided which includes people coming into the home, as well as taking every opportunity practicable to engage with the wider community of Ross. Churches, shops, pubs and cafes are well used and links to schools and community groups.
My friend went to West Bank in Easter 2019 - we were very lucky to find a vacancy there at short notice. For the last four years, she has been looked after in an exemplary manner by all the staff. Even her initial night wanderings were dealt with in a kindly manner. The staff were always kind to her, even in her grumpy moments! I and her other friends couldn't have asked for a better place for her to end her days, and will always be most grateful to the excellent staff.
It was extremely fortunate that my friend was offered a place at West Bank Residential Home. Understandably it took her a little while to settle, however it quickly became clear that she was receiving excellent care. At all times she was treated, by all staff members, with dignity and respect. Over the 4 years carers' seamlessly adapted to my friend's changing needs, always calm, patient and professional, maintaining the same high standard of care. I only ever witnessed kindness in the way all residents were treated. Knowing that my friend was safe, secure and very well looked after meant a great deal to me, especially during the Covid pandemic when there were times I was unable to visit. Sadly my friend died last week. End of life care was second to none- all staff showing kindness and compassion, and support to us too. West Bank is as good as it gets - care is excellent, staff are just lovely and led by an amazing manager - very much a home within a Home.
