View Full Details of The ChaceWe are very pleased with the home for our Mother. She has settled in well and we are very impressed with the facilities and the caring approach of the staff.
A very comprehensive care plan was presented at Mum's annual review.
My Mum has been at the Chace now for nearly 6 years. From the management to the carers, activity coordinator and housekeepers, I cannot praise them enough. These people genuinely care for our loved ones. Mum always looks well looked after and is on the whole, very happy. All the staff are so welcoming, it is like a big family, you are made to feel very supported. Nothing is too much trouble. Mum loves to go out, so I pick her up a few times a week and take her to see family or just for a drive. When we arrive back we are warmly welcomed in. It gives me great comfort knowing Mum is happy in her surroundings and all the staff make that happen and I can't thank them enough.
The standard of care is excellent. We are impressed (my husband and myself) with the warmth, and friendliness of all the staff in the home under the superb leadership of the manager and her deputy. Although my sister can no longer speak or express her feelings when we visit she is always comfortable and content, we are impressed by the attentiveness of each member of staff.
The Chace has been redecorated since being taken over. Whilst being much tidier it is rather dark, which is odd since the staff have described the building originally as dark. Carers are generally task-orientated and not fully understanding of caring. Attention to detail is lacking, small bits of tidying up and general assistance with room management is missing. Returned laundry is put away chaotically. Management has a poor understanding of the needs of relatives, communication of events, changes to T&C's etc is poor. There doesn't appear to be a strategy for supporting residents feeling lonely.
I am impressed with the refurbishment that is taking place at The Chace. This helps to promote a calm atmosphere. I am also impressed with the ongoing work related to person-centred working. As an ex social care trainer I tend to notice things others may not see. If I raise any concerns these are dealt with professionally by the senior staff and manager. My wife who has been at The Chace for almost 18 months always looks well cared for. I am always welcome when I visit - about three times a week. Overall I think The Chace is an excellent, well-run home with friendly and caring staff. I would not hesitate in recommending anyone to The Chace.
The best thing about The Chace is the wonderful staff. From the manager through to the carers and cleaners they all interact in such a caring manner with the residents, many of whom have dementia. It feels like a family there and makes visits by family a pleasant experience.
Being the one to put my mum into a care home was one of the hardest decisions I've had to make in my life but now seeing how well my mum is cared for and looked after, all the staff are excellent with her, it has put my mind at ease. I cannot thank everyone enough for all of the hard work they have done and are doing. My mum is so happy there, she doesn't ever want to leave. My mum has always got a smile on her face now, which I didn't think I'd ever see again. Thank you to all at The Chace for your excellent work and your excellent care.
With a decade of experience of local care homes, my sister recommended The Chace in Upper Welland due to its obvious high levels of care for the individual clients from The Chace's respectful and affectionate care staff. Other homes visited over the past years may look professional yet tend to lack the care staff to offer the constant attention and engagement when it is required. The Chace manages to maintain its professionalism as well as retain enough caring staff to assure families that their loved ones are in the best place and surrounded with the attention and affection they each require.
The Chace has a slightly old fashioned feel and provides a comfortable and safe environment for their residents, many of whom suffer from dementia. The staff are friendly and very caring, they will always make the time to stop and talk to the residents, or even provide a hug if needed. Relatives and other visitors are always made welcome and are greeted with a smile. Residents enjoy the regular musical activities on offer, as well as yoga, and pet therapy sessions. Residents can choose what they would like to eat at mealtimes and cakes are always provided for special occasions! The home's management operates an open door policy and they are always willing to discuss and resolve any concerns.
