View Full Details of Friends of the Elderly Malvern (Bradbury Court, Davenham and Perrins House)The whole process of getting mum into a suitable home for respite, used as a transition from hospital back to her home, has been a pleasant experience. From the initial assessment in hospital to the discharge back to mum's home. The whole team have been responsive and shown care and compassion. Fun and respectful. Thanks.
I have recently visited my friends at Bradbury. There was a really nice positive friendly atmosphere. Plenty of staff around chatting and attending to the residents.
As a family, we are immensely grateful for everything the staff at Bradbury Court did for our mum and how they cared for her with such dignity and love. The staff went over and above for mum and treated everyone in my family as part of 'their family'. Nothing was ever too much and the care they gave her was outstanding. Thank you to every member of staff at that amazing place - a 'home' for my mum in her last year
Bradbury Court has given outstanding care to my late stepmum for the last 6 years. She had such a lovely, homely and spacious room with all her own things and beautiful views. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and I found it a very relaxed place to be. I was welcome to visit anytime without needing to make an appointment. My mum felt much loved and enjoyed helping the staff, she was very happy there and I always felt reassured that she was in excellent hands. In my experience with previous care homes, I consider it is far greater in comparison and I highly recommend Bradbury Court.
The care provided to my aunt over the 8 years she was a resident was superb. She had a wonderful room where she was very comfortable. Although she was a very private person she was so happy with the attention shown to her by all the staff. If I need to go into care in the years ahead I won't hesitate to move into Davenham.
Thank you to all the staff at Devanham's for their care. Our time with Devanham's was short, so our experience was limited. The facilities looked well-kept. Visiting was easy and without prior notice. A particular thanks to Devanham's unit manager who was especially kind and communicative during the difficult last days.
My mum was a resident of Perrins House from December 2021 until she passed in May 2024. In the time she was at Perrins, my mum received excellent care throughout. Mum's room was lovely, overlooking the garden which she enjoyed so much. The staff were always friendly and helpful and kept the environment clean, tidy and calm. Mum especially liked the wide range of activities on offer, particularly the singers who would regularly come and sing music from her era. Mum also loved the garden club and the staff were very helpful in enabling mum to attend her granddaughter's wedding which was wonderful.
My husband had been in the hospital for three months with delirium following a fall. A nurse accompanied him to Perrnins House, and they made sure his room was redecorated with a new floor. The room also had a wonderful view of the magnificent garden. Lunch is served in a dining room, and he is collected in a wheelchair. Guests are also welcome to join him for lunch at a small charge. There are excellent activities for residents, every weekday. All the staff, nurses and helpers are first class, have enormous patience and are very loving and fun. I could not recommend it more.
The Davenham and its grounds are beautiful. There are lovely communal rooms and plenty of places to sit and chat. There are many kind staff that our relative has become close to and in whom we have confidence. However, in the few years they have been there, amongst the good things, there have been shortcomings. The five stars given reflect very much the current situation as a new manager has taken over who is dynamic, approachable and knowledgeable with very high standards. She has quickly identified a number of the issues of concern and already made some very positive and encouraging changes with many more improvements on the horizon. We feel confident that The Davenham and its residents are in safe hands and that the home will go from strength to strength.
Day-to-day care in Friends of the Elderly Malvern (Bradbury Court, Davenham and Perrins House) - very good - staff clearly felt a lot of sympathy for my sister and were very fond of her. We had no problem with the staff who appeared always to be concerned about her welfare. My last visit revealed an accessible coffee lounge downstairs hitherto never mentioned. Another space to see our sister away from other people would have been welcome. A more complex situation was that no POA for our sister's health affairs existed, restricting our entitlement to information about her health situation. Initially told her health problems, this changed as time progressed. No information about her physical health or care plan was forthcoming. (We were told by Social Services that the Care Plan was not up-to-date). This was a change from the beginning of her stay. None of the family were allowed any information. Finally, another sister demanded information and refused to accept a negative reply based on the absence of a health and welfare POA on purely humanitarian grounds. Too late, as she then entered hospital for the last time. I have two questions to be addressed - not with a simple answer but informing any similar future situation concerning other patients in your care. 1) I understand that the law with regard to POA needs to be obeyed but in fact, no one outside the care home was being informed about her health care apart from her new GP. How is that acceptable? 2) Why did the approach change during her stay at Bradbury? I am aware of ongoing management problems but it appears that staff were not given clear guidelines on dealing with families nor walking a line between acknowledgement of family ties and obeying the letter of the law in terms of POAs.
Whenever I go to see my brother the staff are always on hand and take time to chat with every resident. Not only are they there for residents but their caring extends to the families of the resident too. My brother is very settled. Bradbury Court and much loved by all the staff who show endless patience and understanding to us all whenever we visit. I couldn't wish for my brother to be in a better care home - I would recommend it to anyone.
I must say the new manager and the team at Bradbury court go above and beyond for my wife to make sure all her care needs are met with dignity and respect. I would recommend Bradbury Court to all my family and my friends for dementia care.
Thank you for getting Bradbury Court back to what it was before covid, one member of the team has done a fantastic job and deserves a medal for getting the staff back happy and motivated after previous staff have departed. A happy contented workforce reflects throughout the whole building and its now returned, it got to the stage were I did not look forward to visits or going to the front door, my mother is now much happier as is the environment and staff, with even some staff returning, I know it's been hard with staffing and shortages of staff but those their have raised the bar and are doing a great job. Well Done.
We have removed our mother from Bradbury Court for the following reasons: Loss of clothing and toiletries. Poor oral hygiene, resulting in tooth loss, which was not noticed! Being unable to contact her via both landline and the care home's mobile phone - they were constantly left unanswered. Defensive, unprofessional and aggressive attitude of manager - every issue raised was met with hostility and made out to be ours, or our mother's, fault. There are many other issues. We have complained but have, so far, been left dissatisfied with the final response.
We all know about the difficulties and challenges of the Covid pandemic and the negative press coverage of care homes. My story is different because throughout I had the peace of mind that my mum was cared for in the best way possible. Staff moved into the home went the extra mile to make sure our loved ones were looked after. I trusted the manager and staff to keep me informed and make things the best they could be in an extremely challenging time. Very grateful to the Friends of the Elderly Malvern family of my mum.
Due to the pandemic, the past year has been very difficult for staff and residents at Perrins House, and of great concern for families. However, the level of care has been exemplary, which has been of much comfort. Led by a very competent management team, all the staff have remained cheerful and dedicated to the residents. According to my mother, aged 95, nothing is too much trouble, and they provide companionship and support to everyone there. Importantly, relatives have been kept informed of developments such as visiting arrangements, and the staff went to a great deal of trouble installing both outdoor and indoor screened visiting areas. A new arrangement involving rapid flow tests and an indoor meeting room has recently been added, which is warmly welcomed. There is a great range of activities for the residents and lovely touches such as a seasonal display table and decorations. Mum is genuinely happy at Perrins House, and my brother and I are delighted that she is safe and well.
The care Mum has received since we moved her here when she got 'too much for her previous Care Home, has been second to none. The way they have looked after her, during this dreadful pandemic, has been nothing but remarkable, with staff remaining on-site to protect the residents. We have been kept informed at all times how and when the visiting could be done, if visiting wasn't possible then Facetime was offered which was so helpful. Although it's taken a year to be able to hold Mum's hand again, not once have I doubted that she was being given the care and support that she needed. All the staff are wonderful, always cheerful and treat Mum with dignity and humour (which she loves). The food is fresh and wholesome, the regular tea and cake is a special favourite of Mum's and all areas are kept spotlessly clean and smelling fresh. I would recommend this Care Home, it's a heartbreaking decision to make but we couldn't have chosen better.
Mum moved to Perrins House last October when she needed nursing care. She has settled in well and looks comfortable whenever I visit. The staff seem kind and caring and communications with family members are efficient. The past year has presented formidable challenges but it's reassuring to know that Mum's being well cared for. Thank you.
My mother has been in Perrins House for over a year now and has been looked after so incredibly well and kindly by all her carers and the management team that she has literally been brought back to life... she has progressed from only having fluids to eating so much good food that she has had to have a new wardrobe (once or twice over!). Every time I see or speak to any of the staff they let me know all the important things about mum... what she says to them, how she is responding to activities, tiny sensitive and honest details that make me have total confidence in how she is being cared for. The staff all understand the needs of both clients and relatives and every time I visit there is something happy to hear about or see. Every carer who takes mum back to her room has obviously got to know her and to respond to her sensitively and she lights up to see them, perfectly content. This all makes me feel sure that there could not be a better place than Perrins House for my mum.
My mother has been a resident at Perrins for 4 years. She has been very happy and doesn’t complain. She is very well looked after. She has had Parkinson’s for over 20 years and is almost immobile and finds it hard to communicate. However, she joins in the activities and has made a few friends which is wonderful now that her former friends are mostly too old to visit her. The last 12 months have been difficult for my brother and me as we are not local although we understand the Covid restrictions. Our mother has continued to be content despite very few visits from us. We have managed to visit her a few times in the garden and in the Covid safe room. Last week, I got to see her in person for the first time since last February. The nurses have given me updates on her health. This has meant that we haven’t had to worry about her. She has been so happy that she wants me to put my name down!
