View Full Details of The GablesFollowing a long stay in hospital, it was evident that our brother needed 24-hour care. He moved into The Gables Rest Home, Kidderminster, in June 2023. From the moment we met the manager and care staff, we were confident that he would receive the care and respect that he is so worthy of. Because of the support, encouragement and care, he is able to remain as independent as he is able. He joins in with daily activities that the activity coordinator organises and he has also helped to set up a book club. He is also taken to the pub for a meal with care staff and the activities coordinator, along with the men, where they re-live their memories. He is happy and content living at The Gables Rest Home and we and other members of our family are relieved to know that he’s settled into care home life so well.
I cannot speak highly enough of The Gables! The manager and her team made my mum feel at home from the very start. After an undeniably upsetting time in which we had to decide to move her to a care facility, they also made sure to check on my dad when he came to visit, for which I will be forever grateful. As a family we have been amazed by how much Mum does at The Gables, from visiting a local choir, coffee mornings, shopping trips, visits to animal centres and carol concerts, she now has a more active social life than she’s ever had before! She was even taken on holiday in September which she adored. We feel happier knowing she is safe and so well cared for, also knowing the communication is excellent, we will always be asked our opinion on things and informed of any concerns or needs. Simply put, we wouldn’t have Mum anywhere else, this is truly her home and she loves it!
Me and my wife live in Spain and it's so important to have contact with my father-in-law in the UK.So we have installed a picture frame that I can update from Spain to keep him updated with the family photos of them growing up. We use social media weekly and because his hearing is poor we have supplied a headset which blue tooth's to his phone. The care home has set all of this up for us and they are so helpful that I cannot put into words how grateful we are to all the staff. They are so caring and approachable to any request we make, he loves going out on trips and involves himself in most of the activities laid on by the staff.
My cousin has resided at The Gables for over 3 years now, and although it took time to settle in, she is now happy with the home and staff. My wife and I moved to Devon in 2021 and so it has proved difficult to visit the Gables. My cousin has some mental health issues and the staff are always understanding and caring, encouraging her to be more engaged with activities within and outside the Gables. My contacts with staff at the Gables, either in person, via the telephone or by e-mail have always been handled professionally and efficiently. I've given a 4-star score in some categories as her room is not 5 star, as she awaits a room in the new extension - currently being built.
The Gables is well run, with excellent activities and well trained staff who provide quality care for my mom. She loves the food and it never stops coming! They are currently undergoing building work but are ensuring that it doesn't impact upon the residents.
My mum received compassionate and kind care at the Gables during the last years of her life and especially at the end of her life. She seemed contented and generally well looked after by the team at the Gables.
My brother has been a resident at the Gables for 10 years and in that time he has received the most wonderful care. This gives me peace of mind knowing he is well cared for. There are lots of activities and a very happy atmosphere. All the staff are respectful of my brother and his care needs and I cannot praise them enough for all the hard and sometimes challenging work that they carry out. The managers and administrators are brilliant. A wonderful setting brilliant staff and a happy home.
My mother and father are residents at The Gables care home and have been for over a year now. I have found the care they have received has been exemplary, in that the care packages they have put in place are individual to both of their needs. My father went into the care home under palliative care and only had days to live, but due to the fantastic care he has had from all the staff, here we are a year on, and he's still with us. My mother went in just a few days after my father as she had a heart attack and couldn't look after herself and is being so well looked after, she is also receiving fantastic care. The home is currently being refurbished but I would be happy to recommend The Gables care home and Im even thinking of booking my place for when I need it.
My Dad said he would never go into a care home. But had no choice as his health deteriorated. The Gables made him so comfortable and welcome, that he changed his mind and didn't want to leave. The staff were incredible, with patience, kindness and understanding. I can't believe how many enjoyable activities and outings they provide. Residents are all treated like one big happy family. Care and empathy is in abundance at the Gables, and I am so grateful for everything you do. Well done all of you and thank you.
