View Full Details of Barchester Wheatlands Care HomeIt's never an easy decision to place your loved one in a residential care home, there are so many factors to consider. My mother moved in December 2024 (a difficult day for all concerned), she has mixed dementia and my father could no longer cope. The support we have received from the team at Wheatlands has been exceptional. The manager and I, have been communicating for at least 18 months, waiting for the right time and availability. She has listened to me every step of the way, which gave me huge confidence in the fact that Wheatlands would be the right 'home' for Mum. The members of the team that I have met are friendly, kind and compassionate, they treat everyone with a level of respect that you rarely see these days. I for one can't thank them enough. At last, I can sit back and relax knowing that Mum's needs are being met and that the team will also keep an eye on my father for me as he is a 'regular' visitor.
Visited a long term friend and found the home to be warm and friendly. Greeted at reception and offered a warm drink and slice of cake. Staff very friendly and approachable. Would highly recommend this home.
My mum arrived a year ago at the Barchester Wheatlands Care Home for permanent care which was an emotional time for her and for all of us children. We cannot believe the worry that has been taken off our shoulders. Mum really enjoys her life at the Wheatlands. The care team are dedicated, caring and best of all, 'fun' individuals who together create an incredible team! We are always welcomed too with a huge smile and a warm hug.
My uncle has been well cared for and is thriving, the carers are lovely, nothing is too much trouble for them. Food is lovely and rooms and the home are clean, it is more like a hotel than a care home. The family of the residents are treated like family also.
I have visited our friend in the dementia unit. From the moment I entered, there was a warm, helpful and friendly welcome. Loved the displays along the corridors. It was obvious that the staff were caring and knew the residents well. On Sunday, which was my third visit, two of us joined our friend for Sunday lunch. This was first-class and served by attentive staff. It benefitted our friend who felt she had gone out for lunch. I am very impressed how this very active lady has settled, which is so good to see. Very impressed with the activities. It is so vital to stimulate the residents. The best home in such a lovely setting. Well done.
My mum stayed at the Barchester Wheatlands Care Home for three weeks while we did renovations to her home. Mum's mental and physical needs were cared for with happiness, dignity and kindness. Thank you all staff, I would highly recommend the Wheatlands.
My aunt is well cared for and enjoys all of the activities that take place, and is always complimentary of the food, especially the soup. All of the staff were all friendly during my visit and couldn’t do enough to help. All of the family are so happy that she is in such a warm and friendly environment.
I took my grandsons to the Barchester Wheatlands Care Home to partake in their Easter egg hunt. The event was well organised by their activities team. The care staff involved all residents and the enjoyment of both residents and visitors was clearly visible. A wonderful team and a beautiful home. Thank you, especially to their Easter bunny for making it a wonderful family day.
The Wheatlands has a lovely atmosphere. it is clean, well decorated and is a very friendly and welcoming place. My very elderly aunt is being well looked after and there are lots of imaginative activities laid on. I would recommend it.
Committing your parent or loved one to a care home is one of the harder decisions you will have to make in life. The next difficulty is finding somewhere that you are completely and utterly happy for them to live. I was lucky a friend recommended Wheatlands, his mother had lived there. It was during the first year of Covid, which made things more difficult, but management made it possible for me to view the home and my mother's potential room. I thought it was lovely and the staff were friendly and helpful, so a decision was made and Mum moved in. Since then, I can honestly say that I have become friends with many of the staff and some of the residents, more importantly, Mum thrived and gained some ground against her dementia once she was supported in her everyday life. She enjoys the company, likes the meals she is offered daily.
Wheatlands Care Home have gone above and beyond in supporting me and helping with my needs, while my mother has been residing with them. From the first initial contact and enquiries to helping me understand funding and keeping me up to date with events in the home and the individual care of my mother. I’m having to arrange this care at a distance living some 5 hours travel distance away and having to fit in visits with work has been a challenge and a guilt trip. The staff at Wheatlands have always helped, been patient with my anxieties and supported me along the way. My mother is a very private person and has found the need for help and asking for help different but the team leader is well aware of this. If there have been any concerns about my mother’s health and wellbeing I have been contacted and kept informed. Putting a parent into care is not a choice that is easy for anyone but I would recommend Wheatlands if you find yourself in the position.
Absolutely brilliant, couldn't fault them. They've been a great help and very accommodating to individual specific needs. Can't thank them enough.
We have been so thankful that Dad was referred to Barchester Wheatlands Care Home. It is the perfect place for him. It's lovely to know some of the staff by name and everyone seems to have and show a genuine love for Dad. Thank you. Our only problems are Dad's missing boxer shorts from the laundry and items of Dad's which have gone missing. I understand how difficult it must be in this environment to prevent and keep on top of such things.
All staff are pleasant and seem to interact well with my stepmother. My stepmother seems as happy and safe as can be and content.
Wheatlands feels like 'home' and all staff have been supportive of Mum and family at a challenging time of change. The food is good-fresh and served as an experience. Good to see a variety of activities for residents. Staff warm and welcoming.
The home is beautifully decorated and furnished. The staff are very approachable and have built a good relationship with my dad and he has settled in well.
All the family and I would like to say a big thank you to the manager and the team at Wheatlands Care Home for helping my Mum to settle into her new home. We are in awe of all the hard work you have done and continue to do to ensure Mum is comfortable and her needs are met. The atmosphere at your home is positive and welcoming from the moment you step in through the front door. Nothing is too much trouble, which helps to put our minds at ease. Keep up the good work, it is recognised and appreciated!
Fantastic environment, Mum is well cared for and happy in her own little world. Thank you for looking after her so well. Staff are brilliant.
My mother was cared for almost for the last 2 years of her life, she was treated with dignity understanding and love. The home felt more of a good standard hotel whilst able to give the personal care required. This allowed my mother to safely live out the last years of her life in a safe and caring environment which we are so grateful for.
I could not be happier about the experience and care that I've received from all the staff during my time spent here. Everybody has been wonderful! Thank you to everyone involved.
