View Full Details of Alder GrangeMy family and I cannot express how grateful we are to Alder Grange for your commitment to Mum's care in all of its facets. For the past two and a half years Mum has enjoyed the most wonderful care and attention, which has allowed her to be herself and enjoy her last autumn years. Although she preferred her own company she was encouraged to join in on multiple occasions. She was fortunate to experience the garden last summer and the outings when I thought we'd no longer be able to get her out. The care staff are an absolute credit to the home and being a nurse, I can fully appreciate how endemic the standards that are expected are fully integrated into the care that they give. Not once did I ask for anything that wasn't given with a smile, a kind word or positive reassurance and I know Mum would agree. You have allowed me to be her daughter rather than her main carer but I was always keen to be involved in her care and I felt included every step of the way.
I visited my cousin on the way back to Anglesey. The home reserved me a space for our motorhome, as we were travelling back from a holiday in Europe. The staff were very polite and attentive. We were offered drinks and even toasted tea cakes. I would strongly recommend this nursing home. Thank you for being so kind to my cousin.
The staff are fantastic and really can't help residents and visitors enough. Day trips out regularly organised, clean, tidy and seem to have made a massive difference to my mothers's mental and physical well-being as she seems brighter and more able to remember things better. Overall a great place to visit and knowing Mum is really well looked after.
Mum receives a lot of attention there and has frequent opportunities to socialise and be included in events going on inside, and out of Alder Grange. She seems happy and even though she has lost interest in a lot of things I know she's stimulated and well taken care of. The staff are friendly and enthusiastic so they seem happy too.
I am very happy that my mum is settled and that she has been encouraged to participate in activities over Christmas. She does like to spend time alone in her room which is fine but she is also encouraged to sit downstairs and see other people which is also important. She has said that all the staff are lovely and very caring. The thing that she would like would be to have a shower in her room because she said that she wasn't keen on someone having to bathe her.
Alder Grange must be the friendliest, most welcoming care home I have ever visited and as a physio, I've been to several. The staff genuinely caring, everywhere was beautifully clean and the mother-in-law settled in immediately, can't fault it.
When I came to collect my dad, he was bright, alert and engaging in conversation. He was interested in what was happening around him.
My 84-year-old wife has Alzheimer's and has been coming to Alder Grange for daycare for the last 4 years so I must be satisfied with the care provided. Alder Grange is the obvious choice for us for respite care too. The management is easy to deal with and the carers are wonderful, showing care and full understanding of her situation. They are more than willing to advise and work with you when needed, for example, during periods of constipation etc and we both feel part of the Alder Grange family. The home is constantly being improved both internally and externally without affecting the residents and it is an enormous relief to me to know that I take my wife to such a caring, happy environment.
Mum moved into Alder Grange a little over a year ago and couldn't be happier with the care she receives. At times I'm sure Mum can be challenging but receives all the love and care she deserves from all staff. Alder Grange is a more loving, caring home than any other we viewed. Excellent all round.
My mother has been at Alder Grange for 7 years now and the care and support received from the staff I am convinced has helped my mum stay so well! Would highly recommend Alder Grange you know your loved one is safe and well cared for and you can visit at any time which tells me there is nothing to hide. Thank you everyone for the continued support you give my mum.
I couldn't be more pleased than to give a review for Alder Grange. We have definitely picked the right home for my dear wife, you are welcomed first by the staff, it could be anyone, always with a smile and greetings, then straightaway would you like a drink. My wife is so happy there because she said so, also my family have noticed the same. Everyone is treated the same with dignity. The staff are so caring, thoughtful, understanding and kind, nothing is too much trouble for the residents, no matter what situation arises. The place is always spotlessly clean and tidy with no bad smells as we have experienced in other homes, also the food is delicious.
We made the difficult decision to move Nan into a home due to concerns about her safety living alone. As a nurse myself, I admit to being quite fussy, thankfully Alder Grange was recommended to us! A room luckily became available and she moved in. She took a while to settle, however, the staff helped with this transition, reassuring her until she grew in confidence to feel safe and settled there. The staff get to know the residents well and care for them with love, dignity, and compassion. They do regular activities with the residents and always have a bit of fun, which my Nan likes. Communication with relatives is excellent, the staff are very friendly and welcoming when we visit or phone. Many of the staff have worked there for a number of years, which I found reassuring. The home is old-fashioned in appearance however the care delivered and management of the home is excellent and they are working hard to sympathetically modernise facilities without causing disruption to the residents. 5 from us.
My dad has recently gone into care at Alder Grange following a 6 week stay in hospital. I was initially very worried that he wouldn't settle having lived with my mum for over 60yrs. There have been times when he has wanted to go home and been confused due to his condition but the staff have been brilliant, they have shown him compassion and care and been able to settle him at such times. The home is very welcoming, the staff are all lovely and my dad has settled well and bonded with the staff. I visit at any time as I will usually call to see dad after visiting mum. The home is homely with staff about at all times interacting and communicating with residents. The staff are available at all times to answer any questions that I might have and equally communicate with me via the telephone when necessary. I feel that my dad is receiving the best possible care and I am very relieved and grateful that he is in a safe environment where those caring for him show him compassion and love.
I usually visit Alder Grange with my wife who is sister to one of the residents. These occasions have been at different locations there, i.e. in her room, from outside of her window and at the visiting area to the left of the building. On every occasion, the staff have always been helpful and very polite. On the occasions when I have taken anything for my sister-in-law to the front door without going in, the staff have always been helpful, pleasant and charming in the most appropriate manner.
My mum became a resident in 2016, mum had been living with me for approx 3 years. It was one of the most difficult and heartbreaking decisions I had ever made. The care and understanding that I had from all the staff was amazing they helped make a difficult situation into an easier one. I have built an excellent relationship with each and every staff member over the years and trust them 100% with every element of my mum's care. The love care and dedication shown is second to none. No one wants their mum to be in a care home but I can say with total honestly I would not want her to be in any other home than Alder Grange.
Mum is 95 and became a resident at Alder Grange in March 2022. Previously mum had been in another home for just a month and had become frightened and extremely anxious. Since mum has been at Alder Grange she is more settled thanks to the care, understanding and encouragement she receives. At first she wouldn’t leave her room, she worries and mithers about everything and lacks confidence. Now she enjoys sitting in the lounge with other residents and taking part in activities. The staff are caring, friendly and approachable. The atmosphere is homely and welcoming to both residents and visitors.
Researching a care home during this pandemic has been difficult, for obvious reasons - recommendations, therefore, are crucial. We needed a home for my mother after a five-month hospital stay had seen her physical condition deteriorate markedly. She is 92. Alder Grange stood out during our research for the quality of communication from the home. Since my mother has been a resident at the start of the year I can only describe communication standards as excellent. Most importantly, the team of care workers are absolutely outstanding. We are not permitted to highlight individuals, but we don't need to - they are all brilliant to a man/woman. We particularly respond to the camaraderie that is evident every time we 'phone, video-link or visit in person. Serial infections in hospital have left their mark on my Mum, she can have 'difficult' days, but these are met with patience and compassion. On the basis of our experience thus far; I can recommend this home unreservedly.
I have been impressed by the love and care shown to my sister by all staff and carers ever since she moved to Alder Grange last summer when her previous care home suddenly closed down. My sister’s learning difficulties can prove to be quite challenging at times and I feel her special needs are addressed very sympathetically. Everyone has always appeared to do their best for all residents during this dreadful pandemic especially with the attention to keeping government guidelines with regards to health and safety during the lockdown.
My father has lived at Alder Grange for 5 years now and I must say it’s been excellent, I didn’t think it could improve any more but during the coronavirus every week we get a lovely photo of dad and update of everything that’s happening and the residents and staff continue to be tested regularly. I can ring staff anytime and ask how he’s doing and the staff are always polite and so caring. Keep up the excellent work and I would recommend them to anyone.
My mother became a resident at the start of lockdown after the death of my father. She is unable to have family visits and therefore I have to rely 100 per cent on the staff for her care and well-being during what must be an extremely difficult time for her and them. I have been overwhelmed by the kindness, patience and professionalism of all the staff and feel very happy that my mother is being very well cared for.
