I worried about my mum going in a home but to my surprise she loves it. They do activities, have parties, exercise classes. She loves the staff who are caring and friendly. Mum is allowed to be independent as well. Fantastic place.
The carers are kind, caring and really hard working, they would do their utmost to ensure my mother was as comfy as possible, also bonding with her, so times when family could not be there, they would spend time laughing and joking, trying to keep everything upbeat, it is a difficult job as some days she would be in pain, but as soon as the doctor had given permission for her to have stronger medication whenever she needed it, all she had to do was press the call button and she would be sorted. I know she really loved the care team as it was a huge part of our conversations when I went to see her. My mum did not have much mobility but she was happy enough to watch TV in her room and the view from her window was quite beautiful, often you would see squirrels playing. It gave the family peace of mind to know that Mum had fantastic 24-hour care, a huge thank you to everyone involved in her care.
Beech Dene is a clean, bright, warm, caring home with staff that go far beyond just working there, they go out of their way to make sure all residents feel loved and cared for. Not just for residents but for their families too. The food is excellent, and the medical care is excellent. We never have to worry about Mum being on her own and lonely ever again. Would very highly recommend.
My Mum lived in Cumbria and has Alzheimer's Disease. After a second fall and admission to her local hospital, we agreed as a family that the risk was too great for her to return home. She was very resistant to going into residential care and has been for a number of years. However, she agreed to go into residential care for a period of assessment. Her social worker suggested it would be preferable to be admitted close to me rather than the possibility of assessment in one home and then admission nearer me later. From my first visit to Beech Dene, I was impressed by the staff who clearly understood the challenges presented by someone like Mum. Since admission the staff have been caring and tolerant of Mum's occasionally difficult behaviour, Mum has settled very well, much to the family's surprise and pleasure. She is enjoying her meals and is joining in with some of the social activities. I have been able to have lunch with her and will do it again. I cannot commend this place highly enough.
Beechdene is a very friendly and supportive care home with incredible staff who put the residents first and like to create a warm, homely feeling for the residents. I’d highly recommend Beechdene to anyone who’s looking at care homes for loved ones.
My mum went to Beech Dene about 9 months ago, she has settled well and always looks clean and tidy and happy. The staff are very helpful and interact with the residents. She has the hairdresser regularly and nothing seems to be much trouble.
My mum has been a resident at Beech Dene in Leek for two years or so now. We wanted a small friendly home for her I researched many homes and in the end chose this one. Mum was diagnosed with mixed dementia and eventually, she wasn’t safe to be on her own. Right from the start she was happy and settled the home has a lovely friendly welcoming atmosphere. We never find her alone in her room, she’s always in a lounge with other company or doing an activity. The personal care is excellent, she always looks neatly dressed and happy. The care team are excellent! They keep us well informed of anything going on and are always available to talk to.
My sister is cared for as an individual. Her privacy is respected and she is always treated with kindness. When she has needed medical support this has been provided promptly. A hairdresser attends regularly and nails are polished if required and creative activities are available. The staff provide a happy relaxed environment and relatives are welcome.
My mum has been in Beech Dene since February and has settled in really well. The staff and management are professional, helpful and friendly and the residents seem happy and content. The visiting hours are very flexible, and I'm just glad that they are looking after my mum so well. A very big thankyou.
Having the need to move my aunt from another care home, due to incorrect information being replayed on a number of occasions. We approached Beech Dene after a reliable friend who had her mother in the same care home for a long time and she was happy with every aspect. Since admitting my aunt at very short notice she was embraced by the staff caring for her. My aunt's dementia journey has been difficult and she has needed to be admitted to hospital a couple of times. Staff escorted her when we could not which was very reassuring. Beech Dene staff show respect to my aunt when dealing with her needs which are very challenging at times. My aunt is happy where she is and so are we.
I went for the cakes and tea afternoon for Dementia UK. I had a fantastic time and the carers were nice and welcoming. The place looks lovely and the residents seemed in good spirits. A fantastic initiative and afternoon. Thank you to everyone involved!
My mother initially went to Beech Dene for two weeks respite in July 2022, during this time Mum was assessed as requiring 24-hour care and became a permanent resident. It has taken my mum a few months to settle down due to her illness and environment change, but Mum is now well settled and seeing how much Mum has improved since receiving the care from staff at Beech Dene is a joy. Mum tells me that all the staff are very good to her, and nothing is too much trouble for them when she asks for something. The staff have a laugh and a joke with Mum and she loves this, my mum has always had a cracking sense of humour and I feel that this is important for my mother's wellbeing, as I witness this interaction between staff and my mum I see that she is happy. Mum says she enjoys her meals and she is always given a choice of what she would like from the menu. When visiting Mum, all staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. The care and support given by the staff at Beech Dene are outstanding.
For the last 2 years, my mother has been a resident at the home, during lock down visits quite rightly were restrictive however reports from my mother were always good with reference to meals, facilities and the behaviour of staff. Of late I have visited in an 'unregulated ' way and consequently been able to see how the home operates as a whole, staff and residents seem to interact well as I have seen in the communal areas. I feel that Mother has definitely benefited from being at Beech Dene comparing her deterioration from dementia etc, prior to taking up residency at the home we can see how the constant interaction with staff and residents seems to have slowed that deterioration. In the communal areas staff and residents interact well, and residents are gently encouraged to be involved without being too forceful. Staff are welcoming and recognise both myself and my mother as individuals. My mother's health is constantly monitored and attended to with the family being informed of any concerns.
Since moving in my dad has become so much healthier and happier, he's put on weight and hasn't had a fall. The staff are helpful and very informative and always go above and beyond, we appreciate all they do.
The care provided is excellent, Mum loves the positive lively interaction with the staff and residents and they cater well for Mum's complex dietary needs, Mum absolutely loves the food, so compliments to the chef. The hairdresser does a marvellous job of her hair and this all makes for lifting her spirits. So a huge thanks to all, it's a very supportive, happy, environment you can actually feel this, it is palpable, a cohesive team, all working collectively towards to good of the residents, nothing seems to be too much. It's the one home I have visited where the residents are openly communicative, this has been lovely to experience and comes from the encouragement they receive I have heard it, they have a very good rapport this shines through.
My mum went to Beech Dene for a couple of weeks of respite care. We looked around a few care homes, and Beech Dene's staff seemed really friendly and interactive with the residents. On all our visits there, the residents were mostly in the day room together and seemed happy and looked after. I'm sure she'll be returning to Beech Dene again in the future.
My gran has been at Beech Dene for a few months and she has settled in well. She always seems very happy when we go to visit her. The staff are friendly and helpful and have built a good relationship with my gran, overall very pleased with the care that she receives.
Very pleased with the level of care and support that Mum receives at Beech Dene where she has been a resident for 2 months. Had one or two hiccups initially but they were dealt with promptly and efficiently. Mum seems very happy and settled now. During all our visits we have found the staff to be friendly, thoughtful and helpful. If they have any concerns about Mum's health they always let us know during the visit or they will call us at home, they get in touch whenever there are any changes in her condition. The staff are very kind to Mum and take the time to do various daytime activities with her that keep her brain engaged, this is much appreciated. A hairdresser visits regularly and her hair always looks lovely. She enjoys very much the daily interaction with the other residents and loves that she's never short of company. Overall we are very happy with Mum's care at Beech Dene.
Mum has been in Beech Dene Care Home for nearly five years. We have always been very happy with the care Mum receives and we have built good relationships with all of the staff. We visit on a daily basis and staff are always available to help if we have any concerns about Mum. I am especially impressed that staff are also interested in my dad's welfare and have on occasions phoned to check he is ok if he hasn't called at the usual time. All of Mum's needs are met and we could not ask for better care.
I continue to be happy with the care and provision for my mother. Mum is very settled, and no longer has concerns about her possessions. I feel she is well cared for at an appropriate level. I am most impressed with the staff, the care given and how they treat mum are good. They are always friendly and helpful. Procedures are put in place for Mum's care at times of changing needs and she has benefitted from this.
