View Full Details of The Firs Care HomeI have been delighted with the standard of care provided by the Firs since moving my mother here in November 2024. The home is extremely well run -the Manager's calm and caring approach pervades the whole care home and all staff encountered so far have been exemplary. Nothing is too much trouble and any issues arising are dealt with promptly and efficiently. All administration is taken care of superbly well. This is an extremely well run home that has a friendly, family type atmosphere at all times. Residents are encouraged to participate in the wide range of daily activities on offer with regular events , such as bonfire night and fairs, run for the families of residents and the local community. The facilities are excellent -clean, well taken care of and maintained through planned refurbishment. I looked at a great number of Care homes in the area before deciding on the Firs. I am delighted with my choice. I cannot recommend the Firs highly enough and do so without reservation.
Have always been happy with the overall care Mom receives at The Firs. There are usually plenty of staff on duty and they are proactive in dealing with the needs of the residents. The catering staff are particularly good and obviously take a pride in their work.
Visit regularly (weekly) for an hour or two always welcomed with a smile from the staff. If time permits they will stop for a brief chat and let us know if there is anything significant to respect. Place is always clean and tidy even with all the internal improvements ongoing at the moment. My sister has a poor appetite but they all try to find something she might like and always make sure she is drinking plenty. All considered this is a very caring residential care home.
I visited many care homes before choosing The Firs for my Mother. I have definitely made the right decision. The rooms are very well appointed and everywhere is kept very clean. The staff are all so kind and friendly and my Mother is now settled and content.
My husband has been in The Firs Care Home since September 2024. In that time he has had excellent care and attention. He is suffering from Alzheimer's and is encouraged to take part in all activities that help to stimulate his brain, and all his daily needs are always taken care of to the highest standard. I am always made to feel welcome at all times by all the staff. In fact they seem to go out of their way to keep me with my husband, make me a drink etc.
What a wonderful caring staff - go above and beyond. Thank you so much.
The Firs is a well-run, professional care home, from the management team to all its staff. My Mother-in-law received end-of-life care, delivered with empathy, kindness, and consideration. From the food, room, activities, and care provided by the lovely staff, all were exceptional. We were continually kept informed of how my Mother-in-law was, which alleviated any concerns we had. We felt her welfare was paramount and individual to her. The Firs is a credit to the care home community and I must say we were also supported throughout with kindness. I would have no hesitation in recommending The Firs Care Home to anyone.
Very happy with the care home.
My father was a resident at The Firs from April to June 2024. He was hospitalised with sepsis and returned to The Firs but continued to deteriorate becoming very agitated and losing his mobility requiring significant levels of care. The staff treated him and his visitors with kindness dignity and love. The managers were exceptional. They were knowledgeable about his medical issues and medication and could explain any changes made and why. They knew him well in a short time and understood his needs, they were hands-on when needed, helping to get him comfortable. All staff made his visitors feel welcome and meals were offered to those of us travelling from a distance. The staff including the palliative care team made contact when he deteriorated to discuss how to manage his symptoms. The home itself was beautifully maintained, very clean and tidy and food was prepared on the premises. I cannot comment on the activities. I would recommend this home as a safe and caring place to live.
Such a lovely care home. The staff are so caring and understanding. Looked after my mom for the past 8 months, before she passed away. All the time she was there they did everything they could to make her comfortable and happy. In her last days, they also were there for us her family. Can not rate this home high enough. 10 out of 10 is not enough.
I struggled with the decision to put my mom in a care home, but at The Firs I feel very happy and content that my mom is in good hands, being looked after well and she is safe. The staff are fantastic and caring and go above and beyond. I can't fault them, they are friendly and polite and you are always greeted with a smile. If you have any problems, you just have to go to management, and they will try their utmost to resolve your issue. Great home and staff.
Our mother has been a resident at The Firs for the part of 3 years and we have been very happy with the care and attention she has received in that time. The home is very clean, well-furnished and decorated with plenty of space for the residents in the communal areas. The bedrooms are well-furnished and spacious. We are particularly impressed with the staffing at The Firs, there are always plenty of staff around and they are very friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend The Firs to anyone who is looking for a care home in the area.
My aunt was transferred to The Firs, Sedgley after breaking her hip in a fall. She lost her mobility as a result. The staff and management are superb, they treat her with respect and they have loads of patience with her. The communication with me is excellent and I am kept informed of any issues as I do not live locally. When I visit, the response from all the staff is so positive and welcoming. I highly recommend The Firs.
Moving my uncle over to this wonderful care home has been the best decision ever made. Not only am I able to visit frequently, but the staff and environment are outstanding. It's always such a pleasure to visit to see how well cared for and happy my uncle is. He always looked so smart, clean and happy, nothing is better than seeing this and the peace of mind it brings. Thank you to the whole team for welcoming my uncle and for all that you do.
Everyone is very friendly and makes you welcome. Good choice of food at meal times and if there isn't anything I like they will do something else for me. The food is excellent. The staff try to get you involved in all of the activities and to get you to go on the trips. I enjoy the singers and keep fit and special days. I love doing the diamond art craftwork.
From our very first contact, everyone has been friendly and welcoming. The staff have involved mom from the outset in trips and activities. Everywhere is kept clean and tidy. There is a good choice of food which is excellent.
My aunt has been at The Firs for nearly three years. She is happy here and is very well looked after. We are kept updated in the event she has been taken ill. The staff are always very polite and helpful when I request support. They all know my aunt by name and treat her very well.
My dad was a resident at The Firs care for 4 months before he sadly passed away. What he loved about the firs was he was given the freedom of being able to go to his room and watch television, or have an afternoon nap, at the time of his choosing. He loved his food, and the quality and choice was wonderful. He especially liked the full English breakfast. He enjoyed taking part in all the activities that were arranged. Making heart-shaped biscuits for Valentine’s Day, being dressed as an elf for Santa’s helper at Christmas. And being taken out for a pub lunch and a pint as an organised event. However, what makes a care home special, is the quality of the staff. All the staff were exceptionally kind and caring; from the cleaners, handymen, cooks and especially the carers and the manager. The Firs Care Home made the last few months of my dad’s life happy and I can’t thank them enough for that.
I feel that my mother is well cared for and all the staff seem to genuinely care. They are very approachable and understand any concerns that I may have and address any issues quickly. The activities team do a grand job of providing entertainment, it's not an easy task as the residents have varying needs and capabilities. There's always room for improvement but I'm satisfied overall.
Had a fabulous morning at a charity event raising money for cancer. Lots of tea and coffee and some amazing cakes. I was made to feel very welcome and chatted with staff and residents. Well done to The Firs.
