View Full Details of Hillswood HouseMy aunt has been a resident for three and a half years and during this time she has been looked after well. Her room was well-furnished and spacious. The staff went out of their way to look after her. She was a very feisty person who had a wonderful memory and brain which often caused her to have temper tantrums because she was frustrated with not being able to do what she liked. The staff managed her personality well. Sadly she passed away a few days ago aged 97. The way the staff looked after her in her final few days was exceptional. She couldn't have been treated better by her own family. After her passing, they dressed her in her favourite clothes and arranged the room beautifully. When I entered the room I was so taken aback by the way they had arranged photographs and flowers by her bedside. During her last few days, so many carers visited her and some even came in to sit with her on their days off. That's dedication for you.
My mum became a permanent resident in Hillswood House after two restbite visits. She was content, well looked after, and happy if confused at times due to dementia. However sadly yesterday she passed away, the care compassion and dignity shown by all the staff( particularly carers) surpassed any expectations, they dealt with the situation in the most loving way. They cared so much during her life but also in death. Words can not express enough thanks.
My mum has stayed here for respite several times, it is my preferred choice of home for respite. The staff are all really friendly, as she's stayed before they remember her and her preferences and greet her when she arrives which makes my mum feel safe and less stressed about being in a 'new' place, she has advanced dementia and it can be stressful leaving her so that I can have a break from caring but the team at Hillswood alleviate my concerns and I'm confident that she'll be well cared for during her stay. The home is very open about me going to her room/lounge when dropping off/collecting and visitors are welcome, I think that speaks volumes. All the residents seem well looked after and the team try to do activities and encourage interactions between the residents. I wouldn't hesitate to use Hillswood House again in future.
My father-in-law was admitted to Hillswood House at short notice owing to a family emergency. He was resident for 4 weeks and during this time he was well cared for, well fed and kept safe. We were confident about the care provided and the staff were accessible and friendly. During my father-in-law's stay he became much more mobile using his walker. He will benefit from this now he is back home. Thank you Hillswood.
