View Full Details of Samuel Hobson HouseMum used Samuel Hobson House for respite care initially after a fall. The team were really good with taking her at short notice, making sure her discharge care needs were met. They also accepted her on an evening with minimal staffing, and called us to let us know she had arrived and was getting settled in. Not long after, Mum needed full time care and reluctantly decided to become a permanent resident. The team were great and made every effort to get her out of her room to socialise - Mum was coming to terms with the situation and this all occurred quite soon after my father passed. She's now been there for 18 months and gets involved in all the activities and trips that are arranged. With staff support she's started eating better and put on weight and her mood has increased. She's even made some very good friendships with residents and staff members. As her only child, I am confident that my mum is safe and looked after and the staff always have her best interests at heart.
Mum initially went into respite, as I was her sole carer for over two years. Due to my own health problems and the fact that I could not provide the care Mum needs at home, due to her dementia and mobility, I realised that Mum needed residential care. It was a hard decision to make, but every time I visit or take Mum out for lunch, she is a different Mum. Mum is calm and chatty. Mum is always dressed well and has her hair and nails done. She has her own furniture in her room. And last but not least, all the staff are so caring and easy to talk to if I have a question. Mum has spent some time in the garden with staff, which she loves. Also very impressed that they track Mum's food intake even if I take her out to lunch. Mum has also made friends with other residents, which is good for Mum's well-being as she loves to chat.
My mother has received excellent care since becoming a resident in November 2021. The staff and management team are all very friendly, caring and patient. There is a lovely, homely atmosphere at the home, and my mother has settled well. It means such a lot to know she is having the very best care.
My mother has been a resident since November 2021. She has dementia and recovered from a fall resulting in a fractured leg and humerous. All care has been to an excellent standard, and she has settled well. Staff and management are friendly, helpful and professional. They all display a very caring approach towards our mother. Her room is always clean, tidy and homely. Nothing is too much trouble, and recent care for her whilst she contracted Covid-19 infection has been very good.
Care provided is excellent. My parents have been kept together on the same floor, which is a great bonus bearing in mind their differing needs. My dad loves to be busy, and the staff encourage him to be involved in all aspects of the gardening, which he loves. Staff and management are all very friendly.
My mum has now been in the care home for 5-years. It was the hardest decision I have ever had to make. But from day one, my mum has been extremely happy with all aspects of the home. The management and staff have been like an extended family, in fact, Mum probably beams more when on of the staff walk in the room than when I do. The ongoing communications is excellent, both day and night. The entertainment and workshops are well received by all the residents.
Having used a different home for my father-in-law, which had a large lounge, I find Samuel Hobson more homely. With 13 residents to a floor, you get to know everyone, including visitors, and it's like one big happy family. Prior to Covid, I have visited on many occasions and seen resident taking part in crafts, singing, keep-fit and quizzes to name a few. All the staff are very friendly, caring and keep us well informed. I would thoroughly recommend Samuel Honson to anyone.
Very caring staff. Mum is well looked after. Communication with management very good.
Originally, my mother was going to Hobson House as respite, but was diagnosed with dementia and has been in Hobson House for approximately 4-years. She has been loved and cared for by everyone; she's 98-years-old and still going strong.
Our family is extremely grateful to the kind and caring staff who are caring for my husband.
I have found management and staff very pleasant and there to help with any questions I ask. The cleanliness is great all the way through. I know that my mum is safe and cared for 24-hours a day.
