View Full Details of The James Hirons Care HomeThe facilities, rooms, staff and care, I cannot praise enough. The variety of choice of food and desserts are to be praised, excellent Chef.
My Mother has been very happy with the care she has received and although she has taken some time to get used to the routine at James Hirons her main issues have been the distance from her friends and previous social life, hence her move back to Solihull.
My parents came for a week's respite care earlier this year and absolutely loved it! My mother (92,) who is disabled particularly enjoyed the craft activities, her manicure and her bath! My father (96) enjoyed the peace and quiet! The care from the staff was incredible, and the food was excellent. They both returned home completely rested and like different people!
I enjoyed my stay at James Hirons for respite after hospital. The environment was calm and peaceful also friendly and warm. Staff were helpful, kind and caring. Food very good, chef always aware of my special dietary needs. Plenty of activities to keep us busy. Lovely garden and pond.
After living alone for many years and then moving into James Hirons, the difference in the demeanour of our family member is astonishing. He expresses daily how well he is cared for and tells us about all the lovely things the staff do that make him feel safe and comfortable. For instance, when the day staff leave their shift they come to say goodnight to him and have a chat. Nothing he needs is ever a problem and there is never a negative attitude about anything at all. Eating freshly prepared food instead of ready meals is great and even the chef pops in for a daily chat. In the words of our family member: “It’s as if they’ve all had special training in how to be nice to me, but I know it’s just how they are.”
Mum will have been a resident of The James Hirons Care Home for two years in March. I can highly recommend the home and cannot fault the care and attention she receives. The staff take care of her with great patience as she is bedridden now. The food is good also.
Very friendly, nothing is too much trouble and the food is five-star. Would come back for respite any time. My visitors were all impressed. We are lucky here as we have lovely gardens, which are very relaxing.
My father has lived at James Hirons since September 2021 and is very happy and content. Every time we see him, he tells us how great the team are and how they cannot do enough for him. The team are wonderful, very welcoming and always smiling. The home has a lovely atmosphere, a beautiful garden and pleasant shared spaces. I am extremely happy with the way my father is being looked after and cared for. I would highly recommend James Hirons.
Our mother was a resident for almost five years until November 2022 before she died. Her stay at James Hirons, from day one, was a hugely positive experience. The staff have always been unfailingly kind and compassionate. The home, being a not-for-profit rather than part of a business, always felt more homely than commercial care homes with which I am also familiar. As a result, it wasn’t difficult to establish relationships of friendship with so many of the staff. James Hirons has a wide range of activities for residents, somewhat curtailed during the covid years of course, but even then, every measure was taken to keep the residents safe. Mum’s last few months showed the staff at their very best. We were constantly impressed by the loving care shown towards her. Nothing was ever too much trouble. I can't recommend James Hirons too highly. A great place with truly great staff.
I can't praise high enough the standard of care my mother received for a number of years. What makes James Hirons special is the genuine warmth of the staff for residents and their relatives and friends. It is the staff and management who make this an exceptional care home that I have no reservations in recommending.
From the first day we brought my mother-in-law into James Hirons we knew she would be happy. The warm, caring family atmosphere was so reassuring as were her smiles. The professionalism and vocational love underpinned every aspect of life for her. The uniqueness of each person was celebrated and nurtured. She always complimented the care and love of each member of staff whether they be nursing or auxiliary. ‘They are my friends’ she often said. We knew that she felt valued and loved and was listened to as she shared a joke or story. She and ourselves felt the staff were very special and kind at all times. During the Pandemic, James Hirons was exemplary, ensuring outstanding safety and health routines in all aspects. After five very content years, her care during a short illness and end of life was outstanding. We were humbled by the level of caring support of both my mother-in-law and ourselves. We can never truly relate our deep gratitude for such a unique home in which empathy and love permeate.
I have remained friends with several of the residents and staff and continue to visit regularly, after my mother spent the last period of her life there. My mother received excellent and respectful care whilst a resident at The James Hirons Care Home and during my continued visits to the home I see the same positive attitude extended to all the current residents. Finding such a good place for our Mum was a huge relief at a difficult time in our lives and we remain grateful to James Hirons for its exceptional care.
