View Full Details of Ashfields Care HomeFriendly and very helpful staff Lovely environment and Dad has settled really well Meals absolutely fantastic Very clean and tidy Lots of activities going on and as a family we are very pleased with the overall service
Mum has now been a resident at Ashfields Care Home on Daffodil suite for almost two years. She continues to receive excellent care from all of the wonderful staff. Mum is treated with compassion, dignity and kindness. We feel that she is closely monitored in a clean and safe environment. Mum receives lots of hugs and everyone fondly appreciates her sense of humour! Our grateful thanks to all staff.
My mother lives in the Daffodil suite. She has had to make a big adjustment as has to live there due to life life-changing stroke. Staff have been very sensitive to that. They have also displayed a lot of care for me as I have adjusted to Mum's new living circumstances. It feels like we have joined a wider family. Effort is made to make Mum feel special on a regular basis, the activities also bring structure and a bright spot to her day and are on every day. The care team are hard-working, but always has a smile and a bit of fun with Mum to brighten up her day. Mum loves going to the coffee shop with her book to socialise with whoever may come in. The staff across all departments are friendly and welcoming and treat the residents with dignity and respect. Summer days in the courtyard or the garden spaces are also lovely, with relaxing spaces that don't feel like a care home. I can't stress enough how much peace of mind I have knowing Mum is well looked after, with people who care.
We as a family would like to thank the manager and all of the staff at Ashfields Care Home for the care and love they showed my father. My dad was a resident for 10 months before sadly passing away during September. The staff dealt with his passing with total respect and showed him the dignity that he deserved. When we returned the following morning, Dad's room had a fresh daffodil on the door; a really thoughtful tribute. A member of staff even helped us with Dad's belongings, as our emotions were too overwhelming to do it ourselves. We cannot speak highly enough about the staff at Ashfields Care Home, it is truly the best care home in the district.
I find this home excellent. The staff make you feel like one of the family.
Since coming to Ashfields Mum has improved both physically and mentally. She looks forward to the activities and takes part in most of them. All of the staff that I've come across have been very friendly and knowledgeable, all treating my Mum with the greatest of respect.
My Dad initially came to Ashfields for 2 weeks of respite care. From the very first day, he was treated with dignity and respect. The staff are so welcoming, and the level of care and attention is exceptional. The home is clean, smells lovely and it's modern yet has a very homely feel. My Dad has since become a permanent resident and as a family, we get peace knowing he is safe, very well looked after, and in relaxing surroundings.
I came to Ashfields in the Poppy Suite for respite when I broke my kneecap and felt unprepared to return home on my own. I had such a very enjoyable supportive and happy 2 weeks! The staff were absolutely wonderful so caring, friendly and fun too - all the day and night staff. They all helped my recovery in a gentle and positive way until I felt ready and confident to return home. I made lots of new friends too!
My Grandma has been in the Forget-Me-Not suite at Ashfields for a couple of years now and she is always well looked after and cared for. Due to the travel distance between us, it is particularly lovely to receive regular updates via message to see what she has been up to. She is regularly involved in activities and always has a bright smile. The staff are lovely and I can't thank them enough for taking such good care of my nan.
We had gone to take my father-in-law some extra clothes, as the nurse had requested them that morning. It was 7 pm. The home was just as busy in the evening as the daytime. All the care staff were busy with the residents; they were getting the supper ready. The care staff were all chatting to the residents just like in the daytime. This was lovely to see. The staff didn't know we were popping in. Just as in the daytime, the evening was busy caring for the residents. I then sat in the entrance hall talking to a resident when the day shift was clocking out. The atmosphere between the staff was amazing, all getting on while saying goodbye to each other. The night shift had already started going into the resident's rooms. The staff and manager couldn't be more caring what a wonderful home for our elderly relatives to be cared for.
My mother-in-law has been with Forget Me Not suite at Ashfields for 18 months and we could not wish for her to be better looked after. All the staff are lovely and go above and beyond. They clearly care so much for the people they are looking after. There are always fun activities for the residents to take part in, every day is different. Nothing is ever too much trouble for them. I love the pictures they send so we can all see how well our relatives are when we aren't with them. We honestly couldn't ask for her to be in a better place.
Mum went into Ashfields 4 years ago now and from the very start I knew it was the right place for her. The home is set out very nicely and everyone you meet is happy and content. All the staff are so professional, caring, and compassionate about their jobs and treat all the residents with full respect and dignity, they call them their Ashfields family and it shows that they care. We as relatives are always being invited to get involved as much as possible and they always welcome our input within the home, always knowing their doors are always open if ever you need to offload and have a moment that is helpful. Since Mum has been in Ashfields she has settled well and the staff all know her and her little ways such as her likes and dislikes so they can help her with everything and make each day just that little bit more easier and comfortable for her. Thank you to everyone at Ashfields .
I've recently submitted a review regarding Ashfields Care Home and was on the site catching up to see if published! To my horror, I came across a very different opinion on Ashfields! I realise people see different things through different eyes and with different attitudes but would like to reassure people that this is certainly not what I have witnessed throughout the last 3 years my Mother has been a resident. Every possible care has been taken with my soon-to-be 97-year-old Mother, she has never ever been needlessly medicated, and never ever been left to be sad or lonely, believe me, my Mum hasn't always agreed with being in a Care Home but the staff took everything in their stride and supported Mum through some difficult times! She isn't well at the moment but with the excellent care given to her, I'm sure she will make that 97th birthday. If you are considering Ashfields to care for you're loved one, make a visit and you will see what genuine, generous, kind people work there!
Ashfields is like one big family, all the staff are welcoming, kind, and care about the residents nothing is too much trouble for them. The food always looks delicious and nutritious, I have always found the home spotless and clean from the reception to the resident's bedrooms. Ashfields has an activities rota so the residents don't get bored or they can go to the cafe or bar. I think it's one of the best care homes from my experience and I am so pleased and grateful my dad was able to get a place there. I couldn't have wished for better.
My first experience of Ashfields Care Home was when my mother needed end-of-life care in 2021. She had Alzheimer's and terminal cancer. The care she received was second to none. She was treated with great dignity and respect even in death. I will never forget that. So when Father could no longer be cared for at home Ashfields, Forget Me Not suite was on my list to visit. My first impression of visiting in January 2024 was that of a place full of life and activity. All the staff is warm, friendly, and welcoming. The care he receives is exceptional. I know I could not care for him as well as they do. He has easy access to health services which are much harder to access in the community. His physical health is monitored constantly and any concerns are acted upon rapidly. He enjoys the activities that are provided both morning and afternoon, I have seen him dancing and singing, something I have never seen before. He has grown very fond of the staff and appreciates their support.
I fell upon Ashfields by chance whilst looking for a Nursing Home for my mum. She had been placed in a place, can't call it a home, by the hospital on discharge. What a place, but that's another story. Just no comparison whatsoever to Ashfields. It is a Home away from home. My mum is a difficult resident but she is shown love and affection, she is cared for and her needs are met. She has never been overmedicated to keep her behaviours under control, in fact, the opposite, they will not dose mum up to keep her behaviours under control. I am kept informed of all the changes to her medications, care, and illnesses, and asked my opinions. Mum has been at 3 years at Ashfields and they have been brilliant, she is still a difficult resident but they have persevered with her and some progress can be seen. I can't thank them enough. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Ashfields.
My mum has been in Ashfields for about a year now and it's amazing. The staff go above and beyond for the residents and you can genuinely feel how much they love, care for and respect our precious relatives. There is always someone there to talk to as they are lovely people. The facilities are second to none and I can't recommend it highly enough.
My husband has been in Forget Me Not Suite, dementia unit for nearly 5 years. He is looked after so well, he is always looking smart, clean, and shaved. They do regular entertainment for the residents and involve them with games. The carers are absolutely great, nothing is too much for them, they are great with us, the relatives, myself, and my daughters and would not have him anywhere else than in Ashfields Care Home.
Mum became a resident in March 2022. Whilst she was never a happy resident because of her Alzheimers she was well cared for and the staff were lovely on Poppy. Alzheimer's started to progress, and she was transferred to Forget Me Not the Dementia suite. Some of the staff are very caring. Things started to go wrong. We felt we needed to have very regular conversations about infections, behaviour and drugs. The staff appeared to be helpful. It came to a point when we thought we were losing mum. They decided they couldn't cope. It was recommended that she be moved. The move was arranged, they couldn't have cared less. They packed up other possessions and missed some of mum's. They never once asked how she was in the following couple of days and within two hours removed us from social media. She arrived at her new home, she perked up, it looked like they were giving her too many drugs to keep her calm at Ashfields. She stayed on minimal drugs and calmer until she passed away in May 2024.
On my first visit to Ashfields in February I cried it has such a welcoming environment and friendly staff throughout. The Forget Me Not team cannot be praised enough. The transition into full-time care for Mum was made so much easier by their warmth to our family, obvious dedication and support to individual's needs within a well-supervised and managed unit. 6 months on Mum has improved in so many ways and thanks to them all she is happy settled and safe. We have all made new friends and I know the 24/7 care with hugs and a smile confirms that Ashfields is the right choice.
