View Full Details of Bank Close HouseMy mum has been at Bank Close House a few weeks now, at first she was upset due to a big change. Mum is very comfortable now Bank Close is very homely and cosy, the staff are very friendly and attentive, the manager is very approachable, nothing is too much trouble for him, hard-working. Would definitely recommend Bank Close House.
My husband arrived at the care home at the end of September with mobility issues from a fractured hip. He also has dementia and this has been a slow ongoing process the last ten years. I had arranged a holiday for October and normally our children look after him but were not able to on this occasion due to the mobility issues. The plan was for him to come home in November but so far this has not been possible. He has settled in well and appears to be content there. He doesn't tell me anything but the staff are very pleasant and helpful. I can visit anytime and management are always available to answer queries. His room is in the new extension and is well equipped and comfortable with an en suite bathroom. I can't comment on value for money as this is my first experience of long term use of a care home and I believe most care homes in the area charge the same fees. He has had short stays at another home in the past but this was some years ago when fees cost considerably less.
Staff are friendly and helpful, couldn't do enough for you. Look after my father-in-law. Excellent, nowt is too much trouble.
As residential care is a new experience for my husband and myself, I have nothing to compare Bank Close House with. However, so far, the experience is proving generally good. Most importantly, my husband is settling in well. Although the home is undergoing renovations, safety, comfort for the residents and cleanliness are very good. The food is also good, according to my husband who really enjoys it! Management and staff are always happy to listen to my concerns and have helped to solve them. I'm informed of any necessary changes to medication and treatment he needs. The atmosphere is friendly and informal which encourages us to visit frequently any time, apart from meal times. Overall, I'm very relieved that my husband feels happy and comfortable with the helpful and caring staff.
I visit once a week my friend's mother who has advanced dementia. The support she is receiving is excellent. The staff all appear to be in tune with the situation and with each other. Good teamwork.
All the staff, who are very kind and helpful with lots of patience, have helped my mum settle and be comfortable at Bank Close House.
The care provided for my mother at Bank Close House has been and continues to be absolutely first-class. As soon as you enter the door, the first feeling is of the friendliness of the environment within the home. All the team show genuine care for all the residents, be they there for short-term respite or permanent residents. It really does have the feel of being a family home for everyone and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Bank Close House to anyone who needs care or who has a loved one needing care and support.
Staff are always friendly and welcoming. They show respect and dignity to my mum, even when she is being difficult. They always show kindness and are caring towards her. Mum receives high-quality care. The setting is home-from-home and person-centred. I would recommend this home. Beautiful, old house.
The home is very old looking due to the age of the building. I'm sure it could be brought more up-to-date. The staff are friendly and are good with the patients. am kept up to date on my friend's health by telephone if I am not able to visit him. I am overall pleased with the care he has been given.
Mum moved into Bank Close House, Hasland in August 2022 from a previous Care Home that I had concerns about. The staff at BCH seem very friendly whenever I visit and very approachable. However, although mums overall care is much improved compared to her previous placement, I do still have concerns. My main issue is the laundry, so many of mums clothing items went missing even though carefully labelled everything before she went into BCH. This became so repetitive that we now do all of mums laundry ourselves, despite being included in her fees. I am unsure if any stimulating activities take part at BCH either. Mum seems much happier in BCH which means a lot, but there certainly is room for improvement.
Where do I begin? Just to say how much you do for my husband, it has been a hard eighteen months for everybody. Your staff are the most professional, loving and kind people towards not just my husband but our whole family. It's been difficult for everybody. I love my husband dearly and without you all caring for him, I would have missed out on your love and hard work. Love you all.
My Father had a short respite stay here. Due to the level of care he received, we had no alternative but to move him to another home. In my opinion, I feel the home is inadequate and would greatly benefit from some further staff training to ensure the best care is given to its residents in the most professional way. I am unable to recommend this care home as it fell below my standards.
The staff care a great deal about those under their supervision and work hard, despite the fact that they are few in number. The meals are great and nutritious. The setting of the home is fantastic, in its own grounds with large gardens and lots of trees. A very relaxing setting.
Mum is always well presented and clean. The food and staff are excellent. I have no concerns about Mum's welfare.
The level of care Mum gets from the staff is exceptional. Also, on the ball for any medical issues, Mum may have, with medication or if needing medical attention i.e. doctor, nurse etc. We are always kept informed.
My mum was at Bank Close from September 2017 to February 2018. It's a pity I can't mention names of staff as they were all so brilliant with Mum, and some deserve a special mention for going well above what would be expected. Mum always said she never wanted to go into a home and was not happy about it, but the staff treated her so well and helped to improve her mobility again after a fall as well as making her feel valued. They all enjoyed having a joke and sharing stories with her. Mum settled in quickly and began to actually be very happy there - and I would have said that would never happen. I would often spend many hours with her there and never felt I was in their way - in fact, the exact opposite. Yes, the building and facilities are old and a bit shabby, but quite charming and Mum preferred that to bright, shiny modern premises anyway. Unfortunately, mum had a stroke and has moved into a nursing home. However, she says it is her aim to return to Bank Close - praise indeed!
My Gran was in for a week for respite. The staff were friendly, approachable, caring and nothing was too much trouble. On arriving, they asked my Gran all about her usual routine and respected her wishes. I had no concerns whatsoever with the care my Gran received from the staff.
Nothing fazes the staff at Bank Close House. In January 2017, my mother came from Lancashire to view the home and found herself too exhausted to return. Her choice of room was immediately made available and a walking aid provided. All the staff are kind, patient and caring and genuinely interested in Mum and her life. The senior staff are pro-active in their care, anticipating Mum's needs as she deteriorates. My mother's life is coming to an end and the manager has assured me that they will do everything they can to ensure she is able to die peacefully at Bank Close House surrounded by staff who know her and care about her. We are enormously grateful to all the staff at Bank Close House for giving Mum such tender care during the last part of her life.
A calm orderly home which has given my mother the stability she needs - she suffers from dementia. Facilities and decoration need updating but the care is excellent. All of the staff who come into contact with mum are caring, considerate and thoughtful in all that they do.
The home manager is approachable and always available if you have any questions. The house is friendly and staff appear to be happy in their work. They have a cook at the house who makes delicious food, the residents enjoy meal times together in a relaxed environment. The gardens around the house are lovely and the residents have access to a safe area at the back of the house.
