View Full Details of Elm Lodge Care HomeThe manager has gone above and beyond reassuring our family about my Nan's care since she arrived. She even emailed out of hours to put us at ease. The staff answer any questions we have and we are welcomed as visitors.
Very good care from all the staff. Kind and respectful towards the residents. Clean and tidy in most areas. Good wholesome food. Washing is done by family but some items have gone to the laundry. Helpful senior staff when asked about mum.
Mum has been at Elm lodge for around two months now, and is very happy. The home seems very well run. The facilities are good, and it always looks clean. Most importantly, the staff are brilliant, and they always seem attentive, friendly and helpful. It is really reassuring, to know that mum is being well cared for. Very satisfied.
Dad was so happy from day one, all the staff are friendly and helpful could not ask for more.
I have been here for 3 weeks they are wonderful. The staff are good to talk to and most very friendly and good at things they have to do. I would recommend it to anyone.
My wife has now been at Elm Lodge for six months. The care she has received is beyond expectations. When admitted she was often violent and uncooperative but with the dedication and patience of the manager, supported by her equally dedicated staff and doctor, she has become calmer and cooperative with requests. She is still confused but my family and I can relax knowing that she is safe and being cared for properly.
Our mother was discharged from the hospital and moved into Elm Lodge care facility in March 2022. The manager of Elm Lodge at that time was excellent; they worked with us to help our mother settle in with a non-judgmental and approachable attitude. Overall, we have been very happy with the care our mother has received from the day-to-day staff at Elm Lodge. We understand that working in such an environment, especially in dementia care, is not easy, but we feel that our mother has been well taken care of, and we are grateful to the care staff for that. Thank you.
Mum has had a lovely stay in respite. Staff and management are friendly and approachable, just like a big family unit. She enjoyed the activities groups and having a good natter with the service users. Going back one day a week, daycare, to keep in touch with friends she has made.
I am very happy with the care my dad has received since moving into Elm Lodge care home. He has been well looked after by all these staff so much so he has put on weight and settled in really well.
For the most part I have been happy with the care my Dad has received. Vast majority of staff are friendly and supportive. My Dad is usually clean and well-presented. I’ve only had a couple of times when this was not the case and I raised this at the time. Areas I feel could be improved: The hairdresser could be better. My Dads hair has been hacked at and I’ve heard some residents say they don’t like having theirs done. I’ve raised the issue of name badges for staff before as I do think this is important but I appreciate for safety/infection control etc they are not deemed appropriate. As an alternative, I think it would be nice to have a staff photo board displayed so that residents and visitors could see who’s who. I would like to thank you for the care my Dad receives. I know how challenging the demands of dementia care can be so thank you for all that you do.
My father has been in Elm Lodge for two years this September. He wasn't in the best place when he arrived there after being hospitalised for quite a while. But the staff looked after him so well. So caring and with dignity and respect. He wouldn't join in with any of the daily activities, but just sit and watch. To see him now is unbelievable, I would never have believed him to be healthwise where he is now. He will take part in everything. I can also see an improvement within Elm Lodge over the time dad has been there. The activities have increased and outings for the residents too. Thank you to all for the care, and love you all give to my dad and all the other residents too.
My Father received the very best of care at Elm Lodge and was treated with such respect and dignity during his stay. All the staff made a special bond with him and made his stay here a memorable one for me too knowing he was loved. I cannot thank all the staff enough for their hard work and appreciate everything they did for Dad!
My mother seems very content and happy, looks well cared for. Happy to participate in most of the activities provided by the care home, apparently especially the dancing when they have live entertainment’ considering she is coming up for 102 in July.
I would like to thank the staff for the wonderful care given to my mother during her time in the home. On each of my visits, I saw hard-working and caring people doing their best to ensure my mum was happy rested, loved and healthy. I truly believe that they made the final year of her life the happiest in the five years since my dad passed away. I would highly recommend this home to any family who needs to place a loved one in care.
My mother was very happy in the months she spent in Elm Lodge. The manager and all the staff were very good with mum she loved them all, it was a relief to me she was being so well looked after as I live so far away from Chesterfield. When mum passed away we went to see all the staff and the manager, they were all so respectful and consoling and they were all telling us of the love and support they gave her which we knew was genuine as mum said she loved every one of them. I couldn't have wished for mum final months to be so loved.
On the whole I feel Elm Lodge is one of the better care homes, the majority of the staff are very pleasant, helpful and polite, the food is good, the residents are seen regularly by medical staff and reviewed and the management are helpful.
Firstly I will not criticise the staff. They are probably underpaid and appear to be understaffed and for those I have encountered, care about their residents. For the amount of money being paid for my mother to stay in this facility I find the place to be very uninviting. The decor is basic. The bedrooms are basic. I appreciate for health and safety reasons carpets, rugs etc are not there but I’m sure there are more things that can be done to make the place feel more homely. I am not aware of any activities and on the times I’ve visited and all residents just seem to be sitting in their chairs in the communal room with just a TV and again the communal rooms are very uninspiring. I also think the garden could be made more user-friendly and ensure the residents living upstairs have access in summer.
My father went into Elm Lodge after much family discussion, on arrival he was impressed that the staff were so kind and helpful, all his requests were met with a smile, and he settled immediately. At all times staff and managers were hardworking but always approachable, everyone always went above and beyond. Although he was only there for a couple of months as he sadly passed away. We could not have asked for a better place for him and his happiness and was always a priority to us and them. At Elm Lodge, this was met.
My father-in-law came here in April due to being unable to cope alone at home. Best thing ever, he is a lot happier and more back to the man we knew. Staff are more than happy to help with anything needed. All very pleasant.
Absolutely wonderful! My dad has been brilliantly looked after since starting here in June! All staff are caring and down to earth and they give their all when caring for my dad.
