View Full Details of Pennine Care CentreMy mum is a resident here and I have to say, the home is amazing. Mum developed dementia and couldn't stay at home. We really struggled to find the right care home for Mum, but Pennine just stood out from all the rest. The staff are amazing, nothing is too much trouble. They are so friendly and attentive to all Mum's needs. The home management is nothing short of amazing, there is nothing she doesn't know. When we moved Mum into the home, the home management was so compassionate and empathetic, she completely understood what we were going through and instantly put our minds at ease. The home itself, is a lovely building, with stunning views of the surrounding hills. It currently going through some renovations, to modernise the building. The gardens have also been upgraded, which Mum got involved with by planting some flowers. Mum was an avid gardener and missed tending to her own garden at home. So for her to be able to help, was amazing for her.
My father has been a resident in the Moorland Unit at Pennine Care Home for around a month now, and we are all so pleased with how smooth his transition has been. He has quite advanced dementia but since he has been at the home, the staff have made a huge amount of progress with him in managing his personal hygiene and self-care. He is now happier, calmer and much more relaxed in comparison to how he was at home. The care team are wonderful and always take the time to come and chat to us about how he is getting on when we visit, and there is lots of telephone communication too. We are so pleased with our choice of care home as it meets my father's needs perfectly. I would like to thank everyone at Pennine Care Home who has supported my family throughout my father's transition into residential care.
I came here for respite care, and have been here almost a year. In that year the care has been excellent I feel the staff are genuinely concerned for me. The decoration is good and they have been improving things the whole time I have been here. I want to go home one day but I am very happy here. It is clean and kept up. I love my room it is my safe place. I cannot fault the management they are really nice and look out for us. I feel safe and looked after.
I would not recommend Pennine Care Home to my family and friends. Building/facilities are in need of upgrading as they are at best basic. The access road to the building is an unadopted road and is in very poor condition; potholes, difficult to drive through. The home obtained a ‘good’ CQC rating in July 23, but since then I feel standards have dropped. Senior staff have left, and replacements do not provide reassurance as requested, leading to a feeling of mistrust. My mum was a resident from Sept 23 to March 24 and I noticed a deterioration in standards over that period.
My mum has recently moved into Pennine Care Centre, and I couldn't be happier with how she is doing there. Mum was very resistant to giving up her independence, and the staff at Pennine have bent over backwards to make this as smooth a transition as possible. Their care, concern, and support for Mum and all her needs have been incredible, and in the process, they have supported me so much as well. They keep in frequent touch with messages and photos of what's happening and how she's doing (all with permission). There is always something going on activities-wise which keeps things lively and interesting, and every member of staff I've met or spoken to is lovely yet completely professional. Mum is treated so kindly and well, and they really notice and value her individuality and personality. I am confident and assured that she is safe and well, I can visit pretty much whenever I want, and the team at Pennine have totally earned my trust. Thank you.
Mum is a new resident and so far so good. Seems to be lots of activities for all to join. Mum does enjoy the outdoors, so will be good to see what gardening/walking activities arise when the weather improves. Lovely big room for her, which the staff helped us put her pictures and other personal items up. Big thank you to one staff member in particular for taking the whole day to help Mum settle in, especially as the "whole" family came along. Great pics on social media and great communication all around.
My mum has been a resident at Pennine Care Centre for approximately 6 weeks now and I am very happy with the care she is receiving, congratulations on your CQC rating of good, well deserved, keep up the good work.
My mother has been in care at the facility since 2021, starting during the pandemic. Through all the difficulties associated with the challenges of the pandemic, the staff have been helpful and supportive in difficult times. Over the past several months, there have been great improvements in my access to my mother through simple things like short video calls, communication of events, and general information. There is clear evidence that they are making strides in improving the facility and daily activities for the residents.
My dad has become a resident in the Moorland Suite, he struggled to settle in at first but he is slowly adjusting to his new environment. Staff are very friendly and the care co-ordinators and cleaners work extremely hard. All staff seem friendly and easy to approach, and their communication skills are very good and they seem to be on top with medication and pain relief when needed. The only issues that have been raised are that my dad's TV in his room didn't have an aerial and clothes have gone missing. His wheelchair had been changed to one which had inflated wheels, other than that we are pleased with the way my dad's challenging behaviour has been dealt with and are happy with the care provided. Thank you
My husband sadly needed to reside in a care home after a stroke. After a bad experience in nother care home, he went to Pennine. I visit my husband most days and find everyone from the domestics, laundry people all the carers, activity lady and everyone else involved very caring. They have all been kind and very helpful. It has taken my husband a while to settle, also with his dementia he finds it hard. I am happy that he is now settling down, that makes me feel happier that I know he is being cared for. Thank you everyone.
My father has been at Pennine Care for 4 years. Everyone has worked tremendously hard to produce a care home that is full of love and care for each individual. I go in regularly, 3 times a week, and have observed the care and commitment the staff have to each individual. Dad's dementia has increased over the years but they strive to make him peaceful and happy. Wonderful activities are provided by the activity coordinator who is so caring. The residents adore her. The staff have so much patience and genuine care and attend to the individuality of each person. Management staff have worked hard and are still working hard to improve the interior and exterior. The food looks and smells delicious. I'm kept informed by my dad's designated carer of any change of medication or change in his health. She is so lovely and has genuine concern for him. I have input into his care and any worry/concerns I have I know I can speak to the care home manager who has limitless patience and time to listen.
From my personal experience I am very pleased with what I have seen on my weekly visits. The residents appear to be content and well looked after and the carers treat them with love, dignity and respect. I am impressed with the way the home has improved, and continues to improve, its facilities and the daily activities program has obviously been beneficial and stimulating to the residents. My overall impression is that the home is well-run, cares for its residents and is doing all it can to make their lives as happy as possible, I am happy to award it five stars.
My father is situated on The Moorlands Suite. He is settled and receives good care from all the staff there. The improvement within the home is evident, over the last several months. I am pleased with the ongoing improvements and I believe this will be ongoing. There are some slight issues at times i.e personal hygiene and medication issues but the main thing is my father's immediate care is good.
My partner has been in Pennine Care for three years now, there were a few issues at first, but things have improved so much. I feel that he is having the best care!
Following many arduous attempts to remove their exclusion on my family from visiting my mother, we were eventually permitted to enter the care home, without an explanation of why we were excluded, or without any apology. A number of occasions, staff were rude and unprofessional, listening into private conversations and relaying them back to other family members. Today we were fortunate and allowed another visit, however, were kept waiting at the door for fifteen minutes. We made a request to the staff to allow us to take my mother into the garden and received a resounding NO, in the form of a grunt from the senior member of staff, who was extremely impertinent when asked for an explanation why we couldn't take her, she informed us we were not to be trusted. My mother was left in a chair for hours next to a noisy television, while staff sat around eating crisps. Immediate training in customer care, confidentiality and a lesson in interaction with family members is a prerequisite.
My husband went in for a short time whilst undertaking physio. Every member of staff were excellent and caring.
My mum is well looked after by the friendly and caring staff. Can't praise them enough, what more is there to say but thank you.
I visit my partner once a week and have my dinner with her. This has always been a positive experience. I find the staff very helpful and supportive. I feel my partner needs additional support with personal care and this is currently being looked into.
Having had two elderly members of my family resident at this establishment at the same time I cannot praise the staff and management enough for the level of care, respect and dignity they afforded them. This has been the case on a daily basis and continued through to the end of life care for one of my relatives.
I have visited this care home since July 2013 and although a pleasant atmosphere I recognised there was need of a great deal of improvement. Two months ago I visited and it was clear that improvements were in progress. Today I visited and was delighted to see enhanced security, improved facilities and environment and a very clear family and positive atmosphere. Staffing ratio had improved as had the appearance and quality of staff and carers. Rooms were bright and wall displays showed events and questions confirmed key were happening. A new TV in the lounge, positive and happy atmosphere. Separate dining which was well focused again on family values. All residents including those with serious health issues bonded together.
