View Full Details of Wheathills HouseWheathills are an exceptional care home. All the staff take the time to get to know the residents and go above and beyond in their care. My father is not the easiest resident to look after and has some behavioural issues, again the staff have so much patience with him. I cannot fault them at all, the standard of care is exceptional. The food is amazing my father constantly comments how good the food is and he can put in a request for a "fry up" for his breakfast the following morning and they will accommodate this. Again I think the staff and Wheathills are so good and it's such a brilliant nursing home I would heavily recommend anybody looking for a caring home from home for their loved one, to seriously look at Wheathills as they would get looked after and cared for extremely well. Wheathills is the best thing that could have happened to my Dad. Thank you to all the staff you are exceptional.
Our dad has been a resident at Wheathills for just over two years now. In his 97th year, me and all my brothers and sisters are really pleased with everything about his care and stay there, especially as we know he isn't always the easiest of customers to deal with and remains in firm denial about his age and abilities! The property feels more like a country house hotel with beautiful gardens and extensive views over the surrounding countryside but it is most definitely an efficient and effectively run, caring environment. Dad has shared how much he enjoys the food and drink and comments how well the place is managed. Nothing seems too much trouble whenever any of us make contact with the office team, which is every month as we take it in turns to come over and take him out for lunch, a drive or join him for a chat in the extensive conservatory. A huge thank you to all the team for keeping Dad safe and cared for.
Dad has been in Wheathills now for over two years, the staff are excellent and caring, nothing too much trouble, (not sure he fully appreciates how good his life is in there!) The food is good and varied, it's a safe and harmonious home with plenty of interaction and events to occupy the residents, and a lot of hard work put in by the team. No hesitation in recommending it to all I meet. Thanks.
Auntie has been in Wheathills for the last 6/7 years and she has thrived being looked after and cared for. Lovely environment and staff very caring and helpful and very dedicated. Well looked after. Nice place to visit. Would recommend.
The transition between living independently and living in care can be a tough one but in most cases it's a necessity. This was the case for my parents. We'd had an experience at another residential home before finding Wheathills. The first home was obviously not right for my parents. Luckily we found Wheathills and they transferred as soon as was possible. Wheathills has been a completely different experience. The management team is well structured, very accessible and well connected to external services that are essential for the residents. The staff work brilliantly with the residents, connecting with each person individually, nothing is too much trouble, and they are always responsive to individual needs. Inhouse chefs cook fresh food daily, and menu is varied. The location is fabulous. Accommodation is comfortable and clean, with good-sized ensuite rooms. We are so pleased we found Wheathills. We thank the full team for their work and the care and support they give our Mum and Dad.
Thank you to all the team of staff at Wheathills, my Aunty always said how kind you were even while she resented her own physical limitations at the grand age of 98. Your particular kindness and help in her last few weeks was appreciated by my Aunty and also by myself.
Warmly welcomed every time we visit. Clean and safe environment. Efficient and caring staff. My mother was happy and well cared for during her stay.
I have lived at Wheathills House Care Home for approximately 6 months. My experience is as follows: My room is warm and comfortable and well-maintained. Having panoramic views of the countryside, which gives me a great deal of pleasure. The staff I have found to be caring, pleasant and supportive. and treat me with dignity. But like every care environment, Wheathills could do with more staff to reduce work pressure. The food choices and quality are very good. The management is friendly and supportive. However, on occasions, requests have been promised but forgotten e.g. replacement of light bulbs, hanging of pictures, curtains coming off the rails, purchase of some favourite food items. Overall I'm very happy with the the choice I've made to live permanently here.
My mum has been looked after at Wheathills, for about 7 months, mum has had no regrets about leaving her home and moving into Wheathills, only for a respite at first, but now does not want to leave. The staff are a credit to their profession. The staff have been caring and kind throughout, looking after her day and night. We are pleased to say that we are safe in the knowledge that this standard of care will continue. Thank you.
Superb care home. Caring and well-managed. My mother is extremely happy here. There are regular activities. The staff are approachable and keep me well informed. Visiting is never a problem. I could not have chosen a better place for her to be looked after.
Well cared for.
Lovely residential care home. Senior staff really know the residents well. Rooms feel homely but always fresh and clean. Pleasant communal spaces. Setting has beautiful outdoor space and far-ranging country views.
I am delighted with how well my aunt has settled into Wheathills House. The staff are caring, friendly, endlessly patient and accommodating of residents' individual needs and preferences. It is a real 'home from home'. Concerns are dealt with promptly and efficiently. After a recent hospital stay, my aunt was most relieved to be returning to Wheathills, rather than her own home, because the staff made her feel safe and well cared for. That speaks volumes and indeed the ambulance staff remarked how nice (and unusual) it was to hear that a patient was happy to be returning to their care home! Visitors are welcomed, everywhere is spotlessly clean and there are several areas, separate from the residents' main lounge, in which to enjoy a cosy chat (a small sitting room, a very extensive conservatory and a patio area when the weather permits). The icing on the cake is that Wheathills is a country house, with extensive grounds, with magnificent views of the surrounding Derbyshire countryside.
Our father's previous care home closed down at very short notice and we were recommended Wheathill House as somewhere they thought he would settle and be happy. From the very start, we were impressed by the cleanliness, the food, the general atmosphere of loving care and excellent staff. No one places a parent in a home lightly and in the ten months he has been at Wheathills House both he and us are completely happy with our choice.
The home staff show a genuine caring attitude. The house is well run and clean. The staff are also very respectful towards the residents. Mum is happy and feels safe. She is always clean and well fed, the meals are excellent. Importantly to us and her she does not smell. The activities are varied and enjoyed.
Mum has been at Wheathills for just over 6 months now and has settled in well. The staff are attentive and caring and Mum seems happy enough. The home itself is decorated and furnished to a high standard. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, it is set in beautiful surroundings with views of the countryside. Management are always friendly and inform me of any problems with Mum. Overall an excellent care home.
My mum has been a resident of Wheathills House for just over a year now, and settled in really well, which means so much to us. The staff are very friendly and caring towards Mum, and put Mum at ease. Visiting Mum is always met with a friendly face from all staff, and made welcome. It’s nice that Wheathills put on family days such as garden parties, tea mornings, where you get to meet other residents' families. Overall we are pleased we chose Wheathills for Mum.
My mum has been a resident at Wheathills House for just over a year now. After looking at a number of different residential homes, Wheathills came out at the top of our list. We are so glad that we got that decision right. The staff are very caring and professional, and there isn't anything that is too much trouble. There is always a family-like atmosphere around the place with plenty of smiles and laughter, which I think is important. Mum is very settled and contented at Wheathills which is so nice to see, a huge thank you to all the staff for the fantastic job you all do!
I cannot praise the care I have received at Wheathills House over the past 4 weeks enough. Without exception the staff have been caring, considerate and nothing has been too much trouble. From the day I was admitted my care included being seen by a local GP and arrangements for district nurses to visit, also a provision of a special bed which was here in less than 24hrs. My dog was even allowed to visit me several times. While I am obviously pleased to be going home I shall miss the staff who have all become friends.
Mum has been at Wheathills for over 5 years during which her care has been maintained at the highest standard. It is such a comfort knowing she is being looked after in such a lovely setting and being encouraged to engage with staff and other residents.
