View Full Details of Kirby HouseFrom my first visit, I found Kirby House to be a very friendly and homely care home. The managers have always been helpful and understood how hard the decision was for us to move our Father to the home; so they gave us space to make the decision. The staff are lovely, friendly, and helpful to my Father and won't do anything with him until they have had a chat with him. They show respect and treat him with dignity. They are also very supportive and helpful to relatives. The activities that they have helped to occupy and stimulate the residents and there are plenty of them. Overall I think this is a very good care home to place a relative.
My mum is in Kirby House. There is nothing that I can fault in this care home, everything is wonderful and my mum is so happy in there. She calls it 'home'. The staff, everyone is exceptional and the food is amazing. The care my mum gets is second to none. She is shown so much dignity.
My friend has been a resident at Kirby House for several years and she is very happy there. Although she is 90 years old, she is pin-sharp and would soon let me (and everyone else) know if anything was amiss. She loves the food and the wide variety of activities. The staff work really hard to keep the residents entertained. In fact, I am often envious of the things that they do, arts and crafts, they have visiting singers and dancers, quizzes, keep fit, games. It is wonderful. My friend is very comfortable at Kirby House and full of praise for the staff. Whenever I visit, the home is very clean and the staff are welcoming.
A most welcoming place for residents. Staff are friendly and attentive to both guests and residents. There are always lots of activities for all to take part in. Rooms are always clean and tidy and overall a very pleasant experience for both visitors and those who live there.
We are so happy with the care and love given to our mum. Mum recently broke her hip, with the dedication of the carers, she's now able to walk with a frame.
Our father was resident at Kirby House from late April 2023 to June 2023. After only 7 short weeks we chose to transfer him to another care home due to our dissatisfaction. We would not recommend this care home.
After breaking her pelvis and spending time in three different hospitals, my 94-year-old auntie went for a short stay in Kirby House. On visiting her several times, I found that she seemed very well cared for that she started to feel at home and that she gradually got the confidence to walk again and start to look after herself again. Well done Kirby House.
My mum has been in the home for over a year, and in that time we have found management and staff to be caring, friendly and always approachable. My mum is always happy and is well looked after here. The food always looks amazing and there is always a variety of activities daily. The management and staff went above and beyond to put a last-minute 10-year anniversary party on for residents and families, which we attended and had a wonderful afternoon. Me and my family are lucky to have found a wonderful care home for our mum. We visit daily and go home knowing she is cared for and safe.
I looked at so many homes, expensive and inexpensive but my first impressions of Kirby House were amazing. I felt relief at finding somewhere with a family feel. Mum has been there for 3 months and is the happiest she could be. All staff are lovely, have empathy and treat residents like one of their own. I have no complaints, only praise. Mum has a better social life than me now.
All staff are very helpful, when I visit all residents are treated with care, there is always things going on to keep residents occupied. Very pleased with the reassurance that Mum is being looked after.
Thanks to the staff of Kirby House for the amazing level of care they have given my dad since January. The staff are really excellent in every way, kind, caring, supportive, informative and welcoming. They inspire confidence that Dad is receiving the best possible level of care in difficult circumstances. They all clearly know him well and understand him. The home is obviously well managed in every way. The entertainment on offer is lively, varied and imaginative and is delivered by two lovely, caring members of staff. It's great to see visits out recommencing after the difficulties created by Covid. Efforts to keep this at bay are excellent and very reassuring.
I would like to start by thanking all the lovely staff at Kirby House for looking after my mum so well since she became a resident in December 2021. Although it was a very difficult time for us as a family when Mum went into Kirby House, the support and care she has received to meet her needs has been outstanding and has put our minds at ease to know that she is being lovingly cared for. I can’t praise the staff enough - everyone is so friendly and approachable and nothing is too much trouble. They are extremely patient with my mum - especially with trying to get her to eat and drink! We are kept informed of any issues or developments regularly in relation to Mum’s care needs. I would highly recommend Kirby House if you are looking for a care home for a loved one. Thank you to the home manager and the whole team at Kirby House.
Our mum went into Kirby House in June 2021 as she needed 24 hours care. We are a close and loving family and didn’t want to put her into a care home and found it hard to make the decision but after speaking to the manager she put our minds at ease and it was the best decision we made. From day one the manager put in place everything for Mum's needs to make her safe and comfortable, the manager and staff made our mum welcome and she settled in straight away and is very happy. Kirby House is clean warm and friendly and is like home from home and the staff always makes us welcome. After visiting our mum we can go home knowing that she is well looked after and safe. We would like to thank all the staff for everything they do for our mum especially as it’s been difficult with coping with COVID they all do a fantastic job.
My mother has been a resident for two years, which have been incredibly difficult because of Covid. Though it all, the staff have been amazing. The home is kept spotlessly clean; all the staff really care about the residents; they are always obliging and pleasant; the food is good quality; and they have done their very best to maximise visiting within the constraints imposed by Public Health England. I rest easy every night in the knowledge that my mother is being well looked after.
My mother has been a resident of Kirby House for a few years now. Throughout the pandemic, the home has kept in touch with relatives and relayed as much information as they can. Mum is happy well cared for both physically and mentally. Despite being very short staffed at times they have coped really well still providing activities for residents even when in lockdown. The home have adapted and provided safe visiting pods with PPE for all visitors when they were able to allow visits. The facilities are excellent and they have a good understanding of what residents need.
My mum has been a resident of Kirby House for the past four years. My dad was also a resident. The staff have always been very caring, nothing being too much trouble. You are made welcome and informed about how your relative has been. The manager has been very supportive especially when my mum and dad passed away. Even though times have been difficult recently with COVID nothing has been too much trouble and the staff have gone above and beyond their duties. I would recommend this care home for the excellent care they provide in all areas.
I am very happy with the care and attention my Mum-in-law has. She is very happy and settled. It is never an easy decision to have family going to live in a care home but my Mum-in-laws needs are too great for us to be able to cope with and she herself made the decision as she knew she needed more. She has friends, she loves the staff and we are kept in touch all the time with any issues and falls. I love the fact that they have activities and something going on every day, however they also have quiet areas, so if a resident doesn't want to join in they don't have to. Everyone has choices but the opportunity is always there. I looked around the home initially pre Covid-19 and the vibe is great, with happy residents rather than sitting staring into space as I found in other care homes. What I also liked is that a lot of the staff are the same staff as were there two years ago, so there is continuity which is important. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this home.
Kirby House is a wonderful place to live. The manageress and staff always find time to discuss and help with any concerns plus everyone cares for the resident in an individual way to that person's needs by watching and learning from the resident's actions and reactions. The care and attention, not only to the residents but to the family, has been exceptional throughout Covid. They have all given 100% to ensure the residents have been safe. Window and telephone calls have been a godsend to keep in touch with residents, all of which must have put extra strain on the management and staff. The build of a complete new glazed wall and door in the conservatory has helped families so much over the last few months to be able to sit inside and talk via the excellent intercom. God Bless you all. General comments for Kirby House: excellent - staff, rooms, dining, entertainment and activities, care and attention (as far as possible across 40 something residents. So sometimes patience is needed). Thank you!
My brother-in-law has never been so well looked after in his life. He was difficult when he first went in but was talked around by the staff and is now very happy.
Aunty has been cared for very well for 3 years now at Kirby House. Since moving she has been much happier and animated thanks to the care and socialising that is so good at Kirby House. The team always keep me updated on any concerns and changes in Aunt's care or at the home itself. They have been really on the ball with Covid 19 issues and were on the ball in advance; they have kept us informed throughout and tried hard to manage to arrange some safe visits whenever possible, although I couldn't due to my local restrictions. Regular phone calls from me are always welcomed. I can't thank all the team at Kirby House enough for all they do.
