View Full Details of Portland HouseMy wife entered Portland House one year ago requiring considerable support while suffering dementia. Portland House has proven to be a very happy and relaxed environment providing a wide range of daily interaction and support, all being delivered with humour, many smiles and much encouragement by the staff. Due to the stage of her illness and her difficulty with moving, my wife remains in her bed; however, she is regularly visited and supported by staff and is involved, as much as possible, with the many events organised within the home such as visiting entertainments and celebrating special days and events. Recently, a most enjoyable tea was organised, in her room, to help us celebrate Valentine's Day. Family members are always welcomed at Portland House and are helped to feel to be a true and full part of the life and of the care of our loved one. I am constantly amazed and so much reassured by the high quality and professional standard of medical and social care within the home. I feel it would be very difficult, or even impossible, to find a better and more truly caring situation. My sincere thanks go to all the staff.
It's my daughter who lives at Portland House. I bless the day she moved there with early oncet dementia as her needs have been met all the time even though there needs have changed drastically as her health has deteriorated. Family and friends have always been made welcome when they visit and the young children have enjoyed visiting their grandma, my daughter, and had lots of attention from residents and staff. Portland House has been a lovely place for my daughter to spend her days.
A lovely, homely home from home. Residents are treated with respect and care. The staff are friendly and approachable. Care tailored to residents' requirements and needs. My father-in-law has been a resident since the middle of November. Have high praise for the care he has received.
Portland House has come on in leaps and bounds since the current manager took over as manager. All of the staff are lovely and it's lovely to see them engaging with the residents. They do lots of activities in which the residents can engage, as well as trips out when possible. The staff are all committed to giving great care and very much focus on individual person's needs and abilities. My friend has been in the home for around 18 months now and I know isn't the easiest of persons to deal with sometimes, but the staff are great with her and try and find ways to engage her in activities, or leave her alone when she chooses not to engage - as we all want to be left alone sometimes!! Most folks would choose not to be in a care home, but if the need arose for one of my friend's family to have to go into a home, I would definitely recommend the manager and the team. Thank you for everything you all do.
The home is very clean and welcoming. Staff are hardworking, happy and welcoming! They make you feel like part of the family. Residents are well looked after and the food is always amazing! I love that there's always plenty of activities going on and the staff dressing up to make the residents smile is brilliant!
My dad has been a resident at this home for over five years. We chose it as it's a lovely home where he is not 'just a number'. We noticed some deterioration at the home following COVID, however since new management, I have noticed an improvement in services, recruitment of staff and meals. I would be happy to recommend this home to others looking for their loved ones.
Very happy with all the services my father receives, the staff are always helpful and polite and tend to all the needs that arise, my father says he loves all the staff which is great for the family to hear. I would recommend Portland House to anyone looking for a care home.
The staff at Portland House have been very caring towards Nana and were extremely patient with her. Nana passed away recently and we were happy that Portland were able to care for her without the stresses of her having to be admitted to hospital. She went very peacefully and had enjoyed a very long, healthy life (95 years old). Thank you everyone - and as Nana would say - Night Night, Duckie.
Our queen had the best care from such wonderful caring people. She loved all of the staff as if they were family. Special thanks from all of us to the team, she thought the world of you all.
My mum has been in Portland House for 5 years. When she came, she was very independent and active, although showing the first signs of dementia. She now needs 24/7 total care. I can’t praise the home more highly, from the carers to the assistant and home manager. I have witnessed such care and fondness. Any problems and concerns are dealt with quickly and efficiently. I have felt supported at difficult times and welcomed in at any time. Mum isn’t aware of very much but always seems settled and comfortable.
My mum is always treated with extreme kindness and enjoys all activities and outings. Being in Portland House enables her to enjoy a better quality of life and she is always treated with respect.
Very happy with the care home, but unfortunately, it couldn't meet my mum's needs. The rooms are OK but some with no windows and could do with updating the decor. The staff are nice and really helpful. Overall a lovely place, but not enough mental stimulation for my mum.
My father is settled and happy, he likes the staff and he enjoys having conversations with them. For me, it is peace of mind knowing he is looked after and safe. I appreciate the staff keeping me informed, especially letting me know of any problems with his health.
I know my mom is well cared for. The staff are caring and support me as well as my mom and the home has a nice atmosphere. The staff do everything to make my mom's meals more appealing for her and respect her wishes.
It's a very dedicated service, that provides absolutely excellent care to the residents and the staff are very professional and dedicated in care providing. Management always looks into each matter to get the professional standards up to date.
Portland house is a godsend! It was pointed out to me that on the 26th of June 2022 my dad will have been a resident for 12 months. During this time the care my dad has received has been first class! The staff are very friendly and the communication has been brilliant! I would highly recommend to anybody that finds themselves in the unfortunate position of putting a loved one in to care.
I have been very satisfied with the level of care and attention to needs - particularly during the pandemic. We have been kept up to date with constantly changing policies but have still been welcome visitors. My dad has been very well and stable and Covid- free, which I am very grateful for. I look forward to normal service being resumed as soon as is safe.
All staff I have come into contact with, either by phone or in person, are always polite and friendly and go out of their way to help you. The Manager and staff are understanding, have empathy and will keep you informed regarding your loved ones.
My husband has been a resident for nearly 5 months now and I can honestly say the difference in his demeanour is all down to the wonderful staff and manager. Nothing is ever too difficult for them, contact is constant and I can sleep at night knowing he is getting the best and most loving care from them all. I wish we could put a photo on to show how he looks now compared to where he was before, and it’s all down to everyone at Portland House. I am so grateful for all that they do. Thank you!
I would like to say a huge thank you to the team at Portland House, they have gone above and beyond in the care for my mum to keep her safe throughout the covid pandemic, no matter what challenges they face, nothing is ever too much trouble. I feel so reassured that my mum is in very good hands. A particular mention to the manager and mum's carers. You are all amazing, thank you.
