View Full Details of Sycamore CottageI will be totally honest, first impressions, I was very hesitant when Dad was transferred from the hospital to here but I cannot praise the staff highly enough for the care he received. The thoughtfulness, kindness and sensitivity shown were incredible. Was always greeted by a smiling face, nothing was ever too much trouble and there was always time to reassure and help, not only Dad but myself too. The home was always clean and residents cared for. I was sorry that Dad had to be transferred to a nursing home.
I went to visit a friend who resides at the home, I was met at the door by a member of staff who wasn't wearing the correct PPE and didn't even know about my arranged visit with them. My friend who I was visiting was in bed, not cleaned and looked very dirty. Other service users were wondering with a purpose in and out of their bedrooms. My friend wasn't happy there at all with the quality of care and services provided by them. When I arrived at the home, none of the staff were wearing the appropriate PPE (not even masks). My friend stated that the food here was very unpleasant and was not nice at all. From my visit, I was not happy with the service and was very worried about my friend's health and wellbeing. Therefore I think that the home should be inspected thoroughly and to be investigated on why the service is running too low to the standards it should be at.
All the staff, managers and owner of Sycamore Cottage Residential Home were outstanding - I cannot thank them enough for the care they gave to my father. The respect, dignity and kindness they showed to my father was as he was a member of their own family. In fact, that is exactly how it felt when I was visit, a family home with angels looking after some elderly folk. A special mention to two members of staff (one of whom can only be described as a Mother Theresa) who were exceptional, and for which I will be eternally grateful. Thank you so much dear angels.
