View Full Details of Whetstone GrangeThe room my mother has is nice and warm . We have put up personal effects, to make it feel homely, Family photos, Paintings, artificial flowers. It did take a while for My mother to settle in, but the staff were all very friendly, and helpful and now my Mother is happy and content to live there, the staff are more like friends than carers. Also there are lots of daily activities, and she joins in with them all. This has helped her make new friends with other residents. Lots of improvements have been made to furnishings, and lighting, painting and decorating. My mother is very impressed with the laundry service, often getting any laundry returned the same day.
I moved my father from another care home to Whetstone Grange last November, as he had been very unhappy. From the moment he arrived, the team at Whetstone were wonderful - kind, caring, professional, patient and understanding. They treated dad (and everyone I saw) like family - encouraging him to socialise, making sure he was content and happy when in his (very pleasant) room, which he loved, especially the view he was fortunate enough to have. The home is clean, fresh, light and inviting, good food and has improved no end since being under new management. I can wholeheartedly recommend Whetstone Grange.
My mother had been In Whetstone Grange from December 2016 until February 2022. In the beginning, she was very unsettled, as expected. Since 2016 we have seen many changes in this care home, which has improved greatly. It was revamped, new secure windows, new furniture and redecorated. My mother’s acceptance of being in care did settle, to believing she was staying in a hotel, on holidays or just enjoying herself. She would join in with the singing and dancing regularly, go off to talk with other residents and made some new friends. This was a home from home, which is why it was chosen in the first place. Whetstone Grange definitely improved each time I visited, however, the garden area never looked anything other than an uninviting backyard. Many times I mentioned this, so maybe that too will be revamped this year. I never had to give notice I was coming. Always made welcome by the staff by name. The care given to my mother by all staff and the local authorities was second to none. Thanks.
The staff are friendly and helpful. They give Mum as much independence as possible and encourage her to join in things when She's reluctant. Mum is very contented there.
Mum has been bedridden since her spell in hospital, her care and treatment by all the staff in Whetstone grange has been excellent.
My mother went into this care home for 2 weeks. She was difficult and the staff were extremely understanding and caring in their dealings with her. She did not join in despite the best efforts of the staff. Staff were very caring and patient and I cannot praise them enough.
I feel that this home looks after my mother-in-law's needs but it could do with some money spending on it eg new blinds and curtains downstairs as, during the hot weather, the heat was too much. Fans mounted on the wall would help and the flooring upstairs is very marked and stained. Also, daily activities to keep residents occupied instead of being left to sit around all day. The only issue I have regarding care is residents can be left for quite a while when asking to use the toilet (depending on carers). On the whole, most staff are welcoming and friendly.
My mum went into Whetstone Grange after leaving another care home where she was very poorly. The staff at Whetstone Grange have been amazing as my mum is now walking after four months as no one got her out of bed before, my mum also due to being very poorly and lost 6 stone but Whetstone Grange has now made her become a healthy weight. The staff have a very challenging job but always keep smiling.
Staff are kind and caring, food is good.
My mother has been in this care home since May 2014 and has been permanently bedridden since February 2016. She has acute vascular dementia and Alzheimers. The care home provides excellent care and attention to my mother's ongoing well-being.
No problems, all ok.
Overall review is good but have no experience of other homes to compare.
My relative has been here for over 6 years. There has been much improvement over that time. The staff are caring and look after the residents well. The home is clean, safe and friendly. I would recommend it to others seeking this type of accommodation.
My mum has only been in Whetstone Grange for the past 5 weeks, she found it difficult the first week but has settled in quite well now. The staff are friendly and helpful to mum and she seems to like them. I find the staff friendly and they can always answer any questions I have about my mums welfare. So... so far so good.
We are very happy with my mothers level of care at Whetstone Grange. Her level of awareness and physical strength has picked up considerably. Before she was a resident at the home, she was very ill and not eating properly which was very hard on us, as well, her family three sons and one daughter. The one area I would like to mention and it's only one, I wish there were more activities for the residents. We are all extremely happy.
The staff are caring and hard working to give individual care to each resident. The building/environment needs money spending on it. Total redecoration in lounges and new furniture needed asap. Meals are well prepared and appealing to residents. Use of the garden does not seem to happen which is a shame.
The staff are very good. Always helpful and very polite. If I have a problem with a resident when I come to visit my mum they take care of the situation so I can visit my mum in peace. I used to bring my own flask of tea until the staff said I didn't need to as I could use their machine to make one when visiting mum. This was very good of them. Any issues regarding mum they soon let my brother or myself know. When I ring up they are always helpful as well in answering my questions.
I am very happy for my mother to be in Whetstone Grange. Staff are friendly and seem very caring. They provide food and drink regularly including fresh fruit. It is very clean and doesn't smell. It is very secure with numbered locks etc. They are very good at coping with mum when she is uncooperative. She has Alzheimer's and sight problems.
The food is good. Staffing is great and very helpful when I need anything. I am very happy here for about 6 years and would not be looking for anywhere else to go and I have made lots of friends in the home I get on with.
All staff and management are very friendly and answer any queries I might have concerning my mothers care. I am kept up to date on all aspects of her well being and she appears to be very happy there. I have no complaints.
