View Full Details of Pendene House Residential HomeI have lived at Pendene House for a few months. I find it very comfortable and the care from the staff and manager is very good. Would recommend them.
The care home is very welcoming. The staff are really friendly and make you feel welcome. Very happy for my mum to be there. She is very well cared for and I don't have to worry that she is okay. Can't say enough about Pendene House.
What makes Pendene so special is the staff, without exception, they are warm, friendly, extremely obliging and very caring. They make visitors feel welcome and encourage residents to participate in activities and socialise. It is a small care home, which means everybody knows everybody. It is precisely what my husband needs to become involved and feel welcome and secure. I have already recommended Pendene to a number of people.
My cousin moved in in January 2024. Best decision made. Her health, mental and physical has improved tremendously. The place is warm and cosy, the food is excellent and her room is cosy. Staff very experienced and caring. The manager has time to talk to the family and residents. All in all, a very lovely, relaxed, caring, homely place.
Pendene House has looked after two of my relations in the past two years. They have given them excellent care and I would recommend this home to everybody.
It is really reassuring to know that my aunt receives 24-hour care. As she falls frequently, it is reassuring that staff are there to get her back on her feet. The staff are always helpful and treat my aunt with dignity. Would definitely recommend Pendene House.
My mum has settled into Pendene House really well. This is the first time she has been in a care home. She is happy. Staff are excellent, and the manager is so lovely.
The staff and facilities are excellent; it was hard work finding the perfect place for my auntie (she is so fussy), but I’m elated because my auntie is so happy in Pendene House. So much personal care is taken of her, and as I live 120 miles away, I’m relaxed in the knowledge she is happy and has nice people around her.
Pendene House is an excellent care home. Every member of staff at Pendene treated my father with tremendous dignity, care and affection, always. Staff spent time with him, talked to him, listened to him and laughed with him. The home is extremely well managed. The family was always promptly informed of any issues relating to my father's care. We were always of any issues provided with full and ready access to him. I cannot think of anywhere better for him to have stayed. Thank you Penedene.
Mum was with Pendene House Residential Home for respite care after a fall. Despite knowing the plan was only to be there just for a month immediately Mum was cared for as if she had always been there. A real effort was made to find out what foods she would like, how she could be coaxed to eat and what interests she had to try and stimulate and encourage her. The home itself is beautiful - it's spotlessly clean, has no unpleasant smell and never did I hear anyone having to repeatedly call for attention and help. Once someone’s bell went it was very soon answered. The staff also made a real effort to make each of the family who came to visit also feel welcome, bringing us drinks and cake. Unfortunately, Mums condition worsened and she was put on end of life care and the staff all then stepped up a gear again to care for her and us, ensuring that she got all the medical help she needed and supporting all of us as we sat with Mum until she finally fell asleep in death. So thankful for the care.
Had a very pleasant stay. The staff were nice and I would recommend to others anytime.
The carer was brilliant this morning with my husband and the paramedics. She knows all about what the condition was and how to look after him, and she got in touch with the pharmacy to get his antibiotics and have them delivered.
Our mother, who is in her '90's, with dementia, has been a resident at Pendene House since November 2019. She settled quickly and whenever we visit, the staff clearly know her well and treat her with dignity, kindness and compassion - often making her laugh. They keep the family informed of any issues or changes and let us know if she needs anything brought in or replaced. We can speak to mother directly on the phone at any time of day - and prior to Covid visit whenever it suited us. We are confident that staff and management take infection control seriously, and do everything they can to keep their residents safe. The staff have shared photos of my mother being involved in various activities with other residents when this has been possible.
My father came to the home in December 2019 with dementia. He has settled very well and has received a high level of personal care. He always looks clean and smart and very happy when I visit. The carers are always considerate to my father's challenging needs and always seem to go out their way to make him happy. I am very thankful to all the carers for their ongoing support and communication with me with regards to my father's wellbeing, especially during these difficult times.
My mum has been a resident of Pendene House for nearly 4 years now and I have been so happy with the care she has received. She has dementia plus other health issues and the staff have been so kind and supportive of her. It's the little things that make such a difference; knowing she hates mushrooms and loves strawberries, helping her with crosswords, making her milky coffee exactly the way she likes it. I know that she's not always the easiest person to deal with, she gets frustrated and confused, but the staff, especially her designated carers, have been so patient with her and have always encouraged her to mix with the other residents and do other things. I think it's the fact that this is a small care home that makes all the difference. They have time for individual care and they get to know the residents. The manager has always been very hands-on and extremely good at keeping me updated with anything that's happened. This has been especially important throughout this pandemic.
Our family have been associated with Pendene House since early 2019 when we began exploring long term care options for my mother. At that time, we immediately felt welcomed and supported and this has been the case up to the present day. We have always found throughout Mum's time with you that all staff have consistently provided her with compassionate, reassuring care and always treating her with dignity. Also, we have been clearly communicated with when there has been any concerns or issues with Mum.
