My dad struggled to find an appropriate place until we came across Oaklands, and the team there have provided him with great care and support through some challenging times. I never thought he would settle in a care home, but he seems very at home there. The manager, seniors and staff are very supportive of me as well as my dad, always keeping me in the loop and helping me to help my dad. It gives me great peace of mind to know my dad is somewhere he is happy, safe, supported and well cared for.
My father was in this care home, and he had alcoholic dementia. Over the two years, he was there; all the staff got my dad off the alcohol within six months. They were very caring and friendly and treated every resident the same. My dad was a handful, that's why I had to put him in a care home, and because he was there, they gave him two years extra of life. I can't thank them enough. They let me give residents tea and coffee because it made my dad feel like he was at home because I was there with him. I would recommend Oaklands to anyone because they give 100 %.
The manager and the team at Stoneygate Oaklands are extremely responsive to client needs. The manager has kept me informed of my mother's health throughout her time at the home. I travelled from New Zealand and made it to spend a few days with my mum because the manager emailed me, and my mum passed away peacefully at the home today. I rate the manager and the team very highly. A truly professional operation that cares.
My father, aged 78, resided at Oaklands for about the last 3 years. He had a range of mental illnesses, and increasing physical mobility problems typically associated with old age. He was no longer able to care for himself, and he chose Oaklands. I reside 200 miles away, so relied on the home to care for him, which they did admirably. The staff are dedicated and professional, and go beyond the duties of their work to make this their second home rather than just a place of work. For example, in summer they would have bbq's, benches and places to sit outside, they had Halloween, and Christmas parties etc. The staff kept in regular contact with me, and I built up a good relationship with them. They treated my father as a member of a family, and he enjoyed his time here. There is a mixture of residents age range from 30-80+, with different problems and needs.
Oaklands Residential Home is a very versatile and unique facility. It has been a blessing and I am very grateful. The care and understanding of the staff is heartwarming. They go above and beyond and I will never be able to thank them enough. The empathy they show is inspiring. Through the Covid-19 pandemic, the manager and senior managers have dealt with such care, compassion and diligence.
