View Full Details of The Grove Care CentreMy wife went to The Grove for two weeks respite, when we arrived we were greeted and she was made very welcome. There needs to be more information on visiting times as I went one evening and was told quite rudely by one of the senior members that I was ten minutes early, which did not make me feel too good. The main nursing staff did everything to make my wife and myself very welcome.
I want to thank you for all the care and attention you have given my wife over the last two weeks. I have been overwhelmed with the kindness, support and care from everyone on the team at The Grove. It was a huge decision for us to make to go down the route of respite care but you have made the experience a very good one for both of us. From day one nothing has seemed too much trouble and it has been a very positive experience. During the past two weeks she has settled really well and has improved both physically and mentally. She is much steadier on her feet, eating really well and has appeared much less confused than when she went in. It has also given me the break I needed.
My wife has been in this care home since March 2023. I have been very satisfied for the care and attention given to her. She appears very contented and always has a smile on her face. I visit her five times a week and have never had to complain and I leave satisfied that she is in good hands.
My mum and all the residents are looked after to the highest standards. So pleased I got her a placement here in 2020. The staff are very caring and keep the residents as happy as possible. They do have activities and summer and winter fairs. I was reticent about whether my mum would hate not being independent anymore but she is now as settled as possible. Her sister would like a placement at The Grove should she need it.
My mother will not participate in activities but I have seen residents sitting painting, crayoning and doing crafts and jigsaws with a carer. Entertainment eg: singers/musicians come periodically and special teas are served on Birthdays, Valentine's day, Halloween etc. After a disastrous 5 days in hospital, when my mother was frightened, confused and hurt when they insisted trying to take blood and they could not find a vein - both of her arms were black and blue - she was welcomed back to The Grove and, I think, very relieved. After consultations with the GP, Mum is now on a palliative care package. She is 100 years old. She is very frail and all the staff - the manager, carers, housekeeping, cooks and the handyman have been wonderful with their dedication, compassion, kindness and support not just to Mum but to us as a family. Mum's every need and whim is accommodated. They are a great team working so well together and deserve a rating of 11 out of 10.
The Grove Care Centre are excellent in every day. My mum is very comfortable, very well cared for and very clean. Mum is treated with respect and dignity all the time. Mum's individual needs are always met. I can not praise this care centre enough. The staff are so caring and nothing is too much trouble. I would recommend The Grove Care Centre to any family that may required this service. I would like to thank all the staff for their dedication and hard work and smiling faces.
Since my mum-in-law was placed here, I have had no issues or concerns with the care and love my mum has received. She has a warm, cosy room, is well loved and looked after, treated with respect and dignity and has settled in really well. We put a lot of this down to the care staff, the homely atmosphere and the warmth that Mum has been given and still is receiving to this day. Five stars to the staff and home. Mum is healthy, happy and safe; that's all we wanted for her.
My nana was in the hospital and came to The Grove as an end-of-life. The level of care my nana has received has been impeccable from admin, management, care staff, domestics, kitchen even maintenance. Due to this care and the home, I've had my nana for a bit longer, and I'm so grateful.
My Grandmother had respite care at The Grove Care Centre for only a short time in the end, but throughout it all the care she was provided, and the attitude and dedication of the staff was excellent. She was kept clean and comfortable, and visitors were always welcome and made to feel at home. In addition, the interactions between the home, her GP, the visiting nurse and the Macmillan team were smooth and hassle-free. I would highly recommend the home and the team here.
The home was perfect for our mum, and the care and professionalism of the staff is "second to none".
We are very happy with the way our parents have been cared for over the last two very testing years. Both were very happy and content, feeling 'spoiled and lazy' is their wonderful comment. Dad passed away during which time we were kept updated and reassured. Thank you.
Despite the problems caused by Covid-19, and my father only being a resident during this time, staff have kept me informed and I have had no problems booking appointments. Dad has been well cared for.
This care home is doing the most amazing job at such a challenging time. The staff are truly fantastic and are putting the residents' needs first, above their own. They deserve a mention as real community heroes. The manager runs a first-class home, the deputy manager is an absolute star and treats the residents in such a lovely, caring manner. The activity co-ordinator is rallying them. The carers are absolute angels. Nothing is ever too much trouble. Fresh home-cooked food from the wonderful kitchen staff and everyone smiling. The cleaners keep the place spotless and tidy up after dad. My dad is extremely lucky to have such a caring home. This reassures me so much as I can’t visit him. It would be lovely for them to be recognised for their selfless and continuous contribution.
We are so pleased that we chose The Grove for Mum, the staff are absolutely superb, very caring and interact with the residents all of the time. The home is always clean and the residents are cared for very well. Mum is extremely settled and happy, always smiling and the staff give her love, care and attention. Thank you so much to all.
I found the care that my wife received while in The Grove was wonderful, all of the staff were very friendly and treated my wife wonderfully and caringly whilst she was there. She was cared for marvellously when she was a t end of life. I cannot praise them all enough.
Lovely, kind care in a homely environment.
The staff are very nice and friendly, the management are great.
My mum had to go into The Grove as an emergency for respite. She was warmly welcomed. The staff were lovely. The Grove has a friendly, family feel to it. The rooms were very nice and clean. My Mum enjoyed her time there and if she needs respite in the future she will be happy to return.
I am 75 years old. I was already wheelchair bound, had several morbidities and very ill when I broke my hip and fractured my femur. After a brilliant op at hospital I arrived, by ambulance, to The Grove. My main carer, my good wife had explained that, because of her own infirmities, she could no longer manage me. I had no mobility and was doubly incontinent. Several care homes had turned me down but The Grove opened up their doors and hearts to me. I was already suffering a chest infection controlled by antibiotics that, during my stay, flared up again. Without delay, I was transferred to hospital where I had a seizure followed by pneumonia. After my recovery, I was welcomed back to The Grove and because of their kindness and care, I was able to return home. I hope I will always remember all the staff who became my good friends.
You have been looking after my mother in law since last September, we just wanted to say, and this needs saying, that your care for all of your residents is unquestionable. On our too infrequent visits (caused by living 110 miles away) we leave with the knowledge that we have seen a calm and happy mother in law. Also, we witness each time what we call moments of kindness where the resident is given complete attention, a listening ear and eye contact, even help with a word search or puzzle. We feel safe in the knowledge that if there is any problem or change in circumstances or a doctor is called you telephone straightway. The other signs of a good second home? Please don't laugh but there is not that overriding smell of cooked cabbage. The staff; there is not a high turnover, and some have been there for a decade or more. You do not hear the staff complain. When a manager says "I love my job" that's something you cannot fake.
