View Full Details of Mayfield Residential HomeMayfield have been looking after my mum since September 2020. The staff are always very friendly and easy to talk to. They always keep me informed about my mum. Mum is obviously enjoying her food as I’ve had to recently buy her some larger clothing. Government COVID restrictions on visiting means that visitors are not allowed inside the home at present and it’s not very practical to meet my mum outside in this cold weather but Mayfield has risen to the challenge and set-up 'Zoom' video calls which are a lot more personal than just a telephone call.
My beautiful mum sadly passed last night at this truly amazing care home, the whole family are so grateful to all the staff for the care and genuine love they gave our mum. Thank you, they were always prepared to go that extra mile and nothing is to much trouble to them. She always said she felt safe, loved, never hungry, thirsty or cold. Give yourselves a huge pat on the back you all deserve it and thank you so so much.
My friend lost his partner and lived alone; he found life very hard and needed help with basic life tasks. Moving to a sheltered home did not help with the onset of dementia; he needed care. I visited many many local care homes and finally found Mayfield. Although not in his home town it was far the most inviting. Others were large build as care homes. Mayfield had a feel like a home, the lounge was smaller, the staff walked through and would speak to the residents. In the larger homes, the residents sat around the rooms and I think many residents could not even see the staff going about their jobs. The staff always had a happy word for all residents and visiting at least once a week at different times on different days I never ever witnessed anything but care and kindness for the four and a half years he enjoyed being looked after. One memory I have is, as I walked down the passage to his room unnoticed and unheard, I saw a member of staff feeding my friend with a small teaspoon talking gently to him.
My dad has been a resident at Mayfield for over a year. Under compassionate management, it is kept spotlessly clean throughout and the food is home-cooked with a varied menu choice. Dad is showered and groomed daily and wears clean clothes, his appearance is important to him, and his dignity. He has a lovely en-suite room with several personal things, photos etc, to make him feel at home. The caring staff are friendly and fun and are welcoming to all his visiting family. Dad "loves" the girls and the attention he is given! Regular activities are encouraged, sing-alongs, bingo and crafts to name but a few, which he has enjoyed taking part in. Dad has made many new friends in the other residents, he says they are all in the same boat and enjoy reminiscing about the old days. I was devastated when Dad started losing his mobility and I was struggling to care for him at home. I now feel settled that he is well cared for in a safe environment. Mayfield was the right choice for us all.
My Mother has been a resident of Mayfield since late February 2020 to the present date Nov 2020 ongoing. Mayfield is a caring residential home, and nothing seems too much trouble. Since the lockdown, they, like many others, have stopped room visiting, but have, when the weather allows allowed limited outdoor Garden visits. These have been invaluable as phone conversations with your loved one is not always possible. In the meantime, they, the Carers, Nurses, and Management are always on the other end of a telephone call if you need to enquire about your loved ones. They are very well cared for, with lots of activities available to ensure the time spend between the fabulous meal times pass very quickly. You have a TV in your room and in the lounge areas, if that is what you prefer, you couldn't want a better home for your loved ones to be in. Clearly, the current Covid-19 situation has closed down a number of options to entertain and visit the Residential home, but Mayfield has managed.
The staff at Mayfield are friendly, understanding and always helpful. My Mother is very happy there and enjoys the activities that are regularly put on for the residents, plus she says the food is excellent. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and they have managed very well indeed in these difficult times, welcoming outdoor visits when possible, for people to see their loved ones.
Our Mum has been in the care home for two years now, the staff are friendly and professional and work to very high standards. The home has been transformed over the last two years and is very clean and welcoming to both residents and family alike. The staff keep us well informed and are always willing to help with any enquiries or requests from families or residents no matter what time of day/night. They have been fantastic throughout the COVID pandemic and a true credit to the manager and team that they have ensured all of the residents have remained well cared for and safe. We have been able to make our mum's room look just like her own bedroom which she feels very comfortable in. They treat her with respect and dignity and understand her needs fully, always making sure that she is listened to and encouraging her to be more active where they can. We needed a high-security home due to our mum being a flight risk, but since moving in she has been very settled.
The staff at Mayfield's are always friendly and keep you well informed about the residents, especially during this difficult time. They are always attentive to their resident's needs and always on hand. The food always looks appetising and enough of it.
They are looking after my Dad and he always says how lovely all the staff are. Every time I call or visit (not now with lockdown) they are so helpful in answering my questions. They keep me up to date with Dad's progress all the time. Dad feels very comfortable at Mayfield and I am pleased knowing they are being kind and courteous to all the patients.
