View Full Details of The Old RectoryOverall the staff are very friendly, caring and kind but often under pressure due to staff shortages. Understandably, the property is very old and a bit dated but some of the rooms could do with some maintenance.
We cannot fault The Old Rectory and the care that mum is getting. Mum's health and well being have improved hugely in the short time that she has been a resident. The staff are wonderful, and are so supportive of mum's needs, but also of us her family. The manager has been absolutely brilliant, and so helpful, and we are always made to feel welcome when we visit. The home is warm, cosy and friendly, clean and tidy. There are always activities for residents to join in with which mum absolutely loves, and she is also enjoying the social interactions with the other residents and staff. We feel reassured as a family that mum is in the best hands and mum is the happiest she has been for a long time.
Very friendly staff, the care home is always clean. Mum is a vegetarian, no meat or fish. The kitchen sometimes struggles with this, there will be many more vegetarians and vegans in the future. So please no more sausage rolls, Mum will not eat them.
I have always found the staff to be helpful and caring. During my mother's palliative care I could not have wished for more and the dignity at the end was outstanding. The management had improved dramatically over recent months and staff were more 'visable'. There seemed to be a better structure to everything. I'm never sure why residential homes find it necessary to sit residents around the walls. How can there be easy interaction with each other, other than meal times.
Excellent and caring staff, all very pleasant and helpful.
Home in period of change without registered manager, senior and regular carers dismissive of resident's needs and critical of resident's attitude and behaviour. Room sub-standard, unattractive, uninspiring, boring, comfortless. Safety issues - foot between mattress and (essential) bed rails. No call bell accessible to resident. Staff have duty of care no matter how "difficult" resident perceived to be. Resident unkempt, unhappy, said feels "unloved and disliked." Distressing visit. Trust new manager will recognise and address issues, more details if required.
My sister-in-law came to this care home firstly as a respite patient as she lived with us to give us a break. She has Cerebral Palsy and needs a special kind of care and attention. Her brother and I found it too difficult and had to make the awful decision to place her in care full-time. It is the most amazing place for her to be where the staff from the cleaners upwards are so caring competent and kind. Hats off to the Manager!
The carers were very good and patient with a very difficult resident, my daughter. She has lots of problems, not least her mental state along with chronic pain and a very quick temper. She is difficult to manage when she loses her temper and becomes aggressive. The staff at Stickney did all they could to contain and help her. I am truly grateful for their help and patience with her. Also, their kindness and care for me was wonderful. Thank you all and please accept my sincere apologies for her behaviour. Thanks for getting the right help she so obviously needed. There are some ratings I cannot tick as I don't know. I didn't come into contact with the manager for many minutes, so can't comment.
Website states 44 rooms with ensuites (this is not true). Bed table sharp round edges (health and safety) changed five weeks later! Room not clean, empty pepper sachet on floor three weeks running. Sink not clean, spilt shower gel bottle, I cleaned and my kitchen roll that I took shower gel bottle on still there next week. When I visited at 11.20 am bed still not made, red bags x2 next to residents chair, clothes on floor at other side of chair and breakfast tray on floor with dirty pots on (not put there by resident) Staff walk to visitors and ignore residents. Some staff rude attitude. I could continue but have run out of space to write.
My Mum was a resident from February 2018 until her death in February 2022. Throughout this time, I was very happy with her care and the whole staff's commitment to her care and making life as pleasurable as possible. During periods of illness, they handled everything very well. Communication between them and me was always friendly and informative. The meals were very good which she also enjoyed and her room was always clean. Overall, I can't thank the manager and the rest of the staff enough.
My father was a resident at The Old Rectory, Stickney from January 2021 until November 2021. He was well cared for by kind and compassionate staff, led by an excellent Manager who understood the symptoms of Dementia and the subsequent distress felt by family members, who were no longer familiar to him.
From when my mum first went into The Old Rectory she has always been made to feel welcome. The management and staff are a credit to the home. They always let me know if things are not right for mum and when I visit they make me welcome.
My Mother in law has been at The Old Rectory for the last 10 days. When the weather was very hot recently, the heating was left on and the rooms were in excess of 30c. Her room has not been cleaned for the last 4 days. The rubbish has not been taken away. Dirty laundry left in her room. Toilet rolls not replaced. I am very disappointed with the service.
