View Full Details of Abbott HouseThe current staff make an effort to make people feel at home and to get to know a resident's needs. The home has been brightly decorated and given a spruce up which goes a long way to keep things new and fresh. The home is settled with staff that are familiar to those that live there and this is largely down to the managerial approach from those in charge at the home itself.
Both my parents are now residents of Abbott House and they couldn't be happier. The care they receive is excellent and nothing is too much trouble. All the staff are very friendly and visitors are also made to feel very welcome. The home receives excellent service from a nurse practitioner at the neighbouring surgery and it is very reassuring to know that she is on hand to deal with any health concerns etc. The recently appointed activities coordinator is also an added bonus and she is already very popular with my parents. The food is excellent with plenty of choice and the kitchen staff go above and beyond to accommodate special requests.
Since my auntie moved into Abbott House in September 2023. She has been very happy at Abbott House this was the only care home she wanted to go and live at. The cares are kind and professional and helpful with her. Always clean and tidy at all times. Auntie is looked after very well. I am very pleased with the care she receives.
My mother-in-law has been with you for 10 months now and has settled in well. It has taken time. The staff know her well and provide good care and respond to her needs. We are kept informed by the staff of any needs or developments, any communication between us is handled appropriately and in a timely manner.
My mother is in Abbott House and loves it. The staff are so caring and helpful. Always willing to help out with the residents. My mum loves the activities they put on for the residents, she loves playing bingo, which I think is her favourite, also Domino's ranks second place. The home itself is welcoming and the staff are warm and friendly. If anything is wrong with Mum, they inform me straight away. I can not fault the home and I would highly recommend the home to others. Every couple of months they have a family meeting, where they inform us their plans for what's happening in the home and we get to ask questions. I rate Abbott House 10 out of 10.
Since my Father-in-law has been a full-time resident I have found the care home is run to a very high standard. The rooms and other areas are kept very clean. The staff who look after the residents are first class and very polite. Also, the support staff are also very polite and go above their work to a good standard. I hear from my Father-in-law that the food is good and with 3 good meals a day. The nursing staff I find are very kind and good at what they do. I put the good running of the care home down to two very experienced managers.
As always the staff and care they give at Abbott House is kind, thoughtful and professional. July has been a difficult month as necessary upgrading of doors and other work has been going on. The staff have worked hard to minimise the disruption to residents and maintain the quality of care.
The care and empathy from the staff at Abbott House have been exemplary. My Mother has had a few falls and the 'Team' have looked after her over and beyond to ensure she is comfortable. Our mother is very happy at Abbott House and has been there for quite some time.
Abbot House is warm and friendly. My mother is very happy there. It is bright, clean and residents cared for with kindness and compassion. Communication is clear from the management team and questions answered promptly. The activities for residents are varied and stimulating.
Mum is 100 and has been at Abbott House for more than four years. She is looked after very well, even though she is very frail, and can be a bit stubborn and difficult at times. The staff are attentive, open, friendly, and conscientious and appear to work happily together under caring management.
My mother is in Abbott House because she has dementia. She is very happy there and the day-to-day care is second to none. The staff are lovely and treat the residents with the respect and care that they need. I'm very happy with the care my mum has and the way she is looked after... would totally recommend it to anyone. Thank you to all concerned.
Mum moved here about a month ago, what a warm welcome she received! Professional staff, providing high-quality care in a friendly environment with stimulating activities and great facilities - and a menu to be envious of! Families and friends actively encouraged to get involved. Can't recommend highly enough!
I am POA for a male resident with dementia. The staff are universally kind in my experience and have a good rapport with the residents. His physical wants are well taken care of but there are persistent signs (lost remote controls/absence of batteries/lost teeth) of carelessness, particularly in relation to his mental well-being, which I attribute to management. He still has a lot of intelligence which deserves stimulus.
I have found the staff to be caring and facilities good. My stepmother is very happy here and I feel she is safe. I do feel that there are insufficient opportunities for residents to exercise when they are able, which likely leads to further physical deterioration. However I appreciate that this may be a resource issue.
My mum moved into Abbott House last year. She settled very quickly making friends with staff and residents. I think already knowing people who lived there, as she and they are from the local area, has certainly helped her feel at home. Her room is light with a nice view. She enjoys watching the birds and squirrels out of her large window. She has also enjoyed choosing and buying plants to go in the garden area immediately outside her room.
Excellent care. Brilliant staff who always treat Mum with kindness and dignity. When family visits we’re always made to feel welcome. Weekly visits from an excellent hairdresser who is very reasonably priced and regular visits from a chiropodist.
The new local management team are really making a difference and getting Abbott House back on track. Residents and staff seem more settled and lots of friendly faces. A big thank you to everyone at AH for the standard of care given.
My sister is very happy at Abbott House. She is more relaxed since she has people she is friendly with. I think making relationships with other residents, who may have complex needs, and consequently is more difficult, is still important. The staff seem to be aware of individual needs, and are there if awkward situations occur. There is always a friendly atmosphere amongst staff and residents. Because I can only visit every 4 or 5 weeks and be with my sister for approximately 3 hours, I feel I cannot comment on food and drink, or activities. I think that, because of her health issues, my sister would be reluctant to join in with many activities. I would like to think that she could go into the garden in a wheelchair when the weather is warm enough. I am glad that a hairdresser comes regularly since it is important that residents can be helped to feel positive about themselves. I think the staff do a splendid job in caring for so many elderly people with varying degrees of need.
Find staff to be very good considering Mum can be a bit of a pain sometimes to put up with, they are very good with catering to her needs.
My mum was a resident at Abbott House for just over a year until she sadly passed away last month. Mum was treated with the utmost care, patience and kindness by all the staff throughout her stay. When she first arrived, Mum was independent and walked with a stick, later she used a frame, and then a wheelchair. She found the loss of independence very difficult to cope with, but the carers managed her growing needs superbly as well as taking the time to get to know Mum, which helped her to flourish. She formed special bonds with them all and enjoyed the friendships she made with the other residents, whether through varied activities or chatting in the lounge. She also loved the tasty meals and the weekly visit of the hairdresser! When Mum’s health declined and she received end-of-life care at the home, the carers took it in turns to sit with Mum and reassure her, which was a great comfort to her, and I will never forget how they supported me and my family in such a difficult time.
