View Full Details of Clanfield Residential Care HomeThe care and compassion shown to my father during his stay in Clanfield Residential Care Home was incredible. The staff treated him and us with dignity and love. The grounds are lovely as is the rural location. We would highly recommend Clanfield Residential Care Home.
My mother moved into Clanfield in June 2022 after resisting the need for full time care, being fiercely independent all of her life. In no time at all she wondered why she hadn't made the move significantly earlier! She embraced life in Clanfield immediately. The carers are fantastic and she formed great relationships with many of them sharing jokes and banter on a daily basis. Nothing is ever too much trouble to the carers or management and mum was always offered autonomy in her stay there. There's no time to be bored at Clanfield as morning and afternoon activities and shows are provided ranging from bingo to musicians. If you have any concerns about how well your loved one will be cared for then Clanfield will put those concerns aside. The care is second to none!! I'd recommend this care home to any potential resident who want the freedom of choice in their decision making whilst staying in a residential care that feels like their cosy home.
Mum put herself into Clanfield for respite care at the age of 99 years. She celebrated her 100th birthday with them and needed to stay through to end of life: a total of 6 and 1/2 months. I found Mum's care to be exemplary for both her physical health and emotional well-being. Nothing was ever too much trouble for the staff who were always available, approachable, informative and friendly. I experienced professionalism and love that always went the extra mile for everyone, including me. Mum and I became part of the Clanfield family and I miss them all enormously. Thank you Clanfield for being there when Mum and I needed you most.
My mother was resident in Clanfield for the last five months of her life. She died 1st July 2023 at the age of 107 years. Those last months were made much easier by the care and attention Mother received from the carers and all the staff at the home. They also had time for my brother, who had been Mother's carer for most of her last years and finally letting go was difficult. I would have no hesitation in recommending Clanfield to anyone looking for a care home.
My mum went into Clanfield straight from hospital in October 2020 during Covid until she sadly passed away in November 2022. Clanfield had been recommended to us by several people. It was one of the hardest decisions we as a family had to make as Mum didn't want to go in a home but we knew that we could no longer give her the care that she needed. Mum did not make it easy for the staff in the beginning but they won her round and in the end, they became her family too. She was always treated with dignity and respect and the care she received was second to none. The staff kept us up to date with things and always made us feel welcome whenever we visited. The family were all there when Mum passed away and when we thanked the staff for all the care that she received, this comment will stay with us forever. A member of staff whom Mum had become very close to said, and I quote "No, thank you, for letting us care for your mum". We couldn't have asked for any more.
My father was a resident at Clanfield for a few months before he died and in that time the care and respect he was shown was outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and my sister and I were updated regularly on his health. I would thoroughly recommend Clanfield to anyone looking for care for an elderly relative.
My grandfather was a resident at Clanfield for eight years and was the happiest and most relaxed he had ever been. At all times he was treated with dignity and respect and always given complete autonomy over his care. He was able to choose where he spent his time and eat his meals. If he chose to stay in his room that was no problem. He loved all the staff and became very close to many of them. In my opinion, the care he received was outstanding in all respects. Nothing was ever too much trouble and there was always excellent communication from the management whenever there were any problems, that were always promptly resolved.
My mother lived at Clanfield for 18 happy months until she passed away there. The care she received was fantastic, her medical needs were catered for, and she was treated as another human being, not just another old person to be looked after. Clanfield always kept me up to date on Mum's health and always welcomed me when I visited. The day I took Mum to stay at Clanfield was one of the hardest days of my life, but as soon as we arrived members of staff met us outside, took Mum's hand, and said "how about a nice cup of tea." Mum walked in and never looked back, it was obvious to me at that point that Mum had gone to the right place.
My grandmother has joined Clanfield on many occasions for day care. She thoroughly enjoyed each and every visit. The entertainment and staff are amazing and were more than welcoming to her. She was provided with lovely food and drinks on tap. As a family, we are very grateful for the times she spent at Clanfield and for management for accommodating my grandma's needs.
Came here for a couple of weeks respite care. Staff were universally helpful, attentive, friendly and caring. Made many good friends I'll miss now I'm home. Food is all home-made and unbelievably good. Thank you so much for looking after me. If I need respite care again, I'll be back.
My mum went into Clanfield for end of life care. I was with her for the whole time she was there and the conscientious, kind, caring staff looked after both my mum and myself with total and utter compassion and empathy. I could not have wished for a better place for my mum to be during this time. Whilst there I witnessed the highest standard of care and the environment was warm, friendly and more than comfortable. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Clanfield to anyone looking for a safe, clean environment for their loved ones.
My dad is receiving excellent care at Clanfield. The staff could not be more caring or kind. This is his second stay to reciprocate and recover from a fall and his care has been great across the board, I don’t think we could want more. Everywhere is very clean and comfortable and homely. Although it is not modern this helps my dad feel more at home.
Absolutely lovely staff at Clanfield. Mum was in a difficult period of her life during her time there, with temporary delirium and physical pain from her hips before she arrived there, but she was looked after brilliantly by the team. Always treated with care and respect by all members of staff, encouraged to do her exercises (which was to Mum's benefit) and to spend time with other residents, which was helpful to her mental health. Would thoroughly recommend Clanfield to anyone looking for great care for their loved ones.
My mummy was a resident at Clanfield Residential Care Home for four years. I can honestly say that I/we as a family couldn't thank the staff and management enough for their outstanding care, commitment, love and dedication to all of the residents. My mummy had an incredible connection with so many of the carers. They all brought Mummy through some very hard times with laughter, love and song and, as a family, our hearts can never repay the ladies and gentlemen that cared for her on a daily basis. The meals were fantastic, always home-cooked with fresh vegetables, and they catered for all of Mummy's whims. There's always lots of fabulous, fun entertainment going on daily for residents to join in with if their mood is right. They organise fun days and family days, where we were able to have a fun in the stunning grounds (weather permitting) and if not, everyone could join in inside the beautiful 'home from home' interiors. Mummy's final years were all we could ask for.
Clanfield is out of touch with current standards. Person-centred care isn’t practised; it seems to be run to suit the management rather than the residents. It lacks investment in staff and facilities. Carers try their very best but not enough are employed to offer good quality care. Some speak without respect and many agency staff are used. Food is poor, bedrooms are tatty with furniture falling apart and old smelly carpets. Residents’ quality of life is poor; most spend their days stuck in front of a TV. Nice gardens but not used, Nan only taken outside twice in a whole year. No activities are offered over weekends and more are needed in the week. As a visitor it feels unwelcoming, times are restricted and there’s nowhere to sit and talk with our relative. Dementia residents are left unsupervised to mix with the others which often causes problems, upset and distress for all. Owners/managers are defensive when challenged and suggestions for even basic improvements were repeatedly ignored.
Our 97-year-old mum spent the last few months of her life in the care of the remarkable staff at Clanfield Residential Care Home. Understandably, Mum wanted to be at home but the staff there made her time the best it could be. They treated her with great kindness and as a family, we felt communication with us was excellent and the family felt supported by the staff too. Thanks to all of you.
Clanfield is a marvellous caring home for my Father who lives with advancing dementia. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and they try every way to meet my Father’s needs, which at times can be challenging. Earlier in the year, my Mother passed away at Clanfield and management put everything in place to allow my parents to be together for her end of life. They were simply amazing. The food served is always very appetising and wonderfully homemade. My Father always clears his plate and will have seconds! There is a plan in place for updating premises and even with the pandemic going on improvements are still happening. I would have no hesitation at recommending Clanfield without hesitation to anyone looking for a Care Home.
My parents have been living at Clanfield for two years. They, and I, have found the level of care exemplary. They are surrounded by loving and caring professionals who provide a wonderful family atmosphere. My parents are valued, respected and treated with dignity at all times. They are encouraged to join in daily activities and are stimulated by visiting entertainers such as singers, bands, etc. and even have a visit from Santa each year! In warmer weather they enjoy sitting in the garden, eating meals there if they wish. Lovely, home-cooked meals and cakes are in always in abundance; birthday cakes are baked to celebrate each resident's special day. Relatives are warmly invited and encouraged to take part in regular events, for example, the annual bonfire and fireworks party, and a fully inclusive Sports Day. A very special home full of very special people.
