View Full Details of Freestones Residential Care HomeExcellent staff very caring, very friendly, and very helpful. I would thoroughly recommend Freestones to anyone needing a Residential Care Home. When I need a care home permanently or respite this is where I am coming. I only stayed a week, but it was very cosy with a great atmosphere.
Moved Mum to Freestones Care Home after not being happy in her previous one. In just a week there has been a major change in her. She is now happy, eating, feeding herself and drinking. The care home owner and all her staff are truly amazing. The home feels very welcoming and Mum is now a person. Thank you so much to everyone, you have all made a huge difference to her happiness and quality of life. I wish I had found the home years ago. The food looks amazing, my husband would love a dinner invite as it looks like good home-cooked food. Thank you again to everyone.
The team at Freestones were wonderful - genuinely caring, and interested in my mum beyond merely looking after her wellbeing. They were also warm and engaging towards me and other family members whenever we came to visit. Although Mum had Alzheimer's I could tell she was happy there, referring to it as 'my home'. She also particularly loved the food! The final weeks were handled very sensitively by the staff and management, something which was of great comfort to my family. I cannot praise them highly enough for the way they looked after her during her last 18 months, and for providing such a lovely, supportive environment.
Friendly caring staff, went above and beyond their duties to make my mother's stay as enjoyable and comfortable as possible, nothing was too much trouble and made me and the rest of my family feel reassured that our mother was in very safe and caring hands.
My mother's time at Freestones was without doubt a happy one. The staff looked after her as though she were a family member. They were attentive to all her needs to the very end, and they made her feel safe comfortable, and above all, loved. We can’t thank them enough.
It was a tough decision to put my mum into a care home when her dementia worsened but the team at Freestones immediately put our minds at rest. They are incredibly supportive, caring, professional and showed my mum great dignity in the weeks until her passing in July 2023. I cannot recommend the home enough.
As a volunteer, I provide praise and worship services for the residents and visit them. The carers are very helpful in assisting the residents who wish to attend the praising service and joyfully join in to encourage the residents to sing. My experience is that the residents and carers thoroughly enjoy it, and the activity assists in their well-being. I would normally visit three times a week, but have recently moved to Birmingham and will really miss the beautiful people at the care home.
Mum has lived with the manager and her team for the last year. The care and empathy shown by all is second to none and the help, assistance and persistence in obtaining the right NHS care when needed has been fantastic. All in all, we as a family, feel that Mum is in very safe and caring hands with any concerns quickly communicated to us. Thanks to all at Freestones Residential Care Home.
This home is very homely and friendly. The staff keep the residents not only busy where possible but entertained. Everyone is extremely helpful and tea is served whenever requested (in reason)
Mum lived here for 18 months during the latter stages of her dementia. The manager and her team always had mum's best interests at heart, treating her with dignity and respect although her behaviour was an increasing challenge. At the same time, each of us that visited mum was made to feel welcome, keeping us up-to-date with her welfare. Freestones feels very homely, with residents encouraged to join in the social grouping in the lounge/dining room but not being discouraged if the individual wanted the privacy of their own room. The care and attention given to mum when life must have been very confusing for her together with her declining health makes me glad that she was able to live her final months at Freestones.
I cannot praise the home enough. From the moment my mother was brought to the home I was kept fully informed by photographs and excellent communication. The staff at very friendly and available for residents and family to chat with. Her room is always clean as are her clothes. Food is good. Well done everyone. Excellent value for money.
My mother has a private room on the ground floor with nice views of the garden. She has a private WC, the room is always clean when I go unannounced. They have regular entertainment and this makes for something to look forward to at the weekends. Group outings are not provided which is a pity. All said, it's a nice home and very safe and warm.
I really never expected mum to move into a care home but after a fall in hospital and other health complications at the age of 92, my mum moved in at very short notice. Wow, my sister could not have chosen better! Freestones is second to none it really is fantastic. My mum has thrived due to the kindness shown and care given to her. There is such a lovely atmosphere that is evident the moment you are warmly greeted at the door. My mum is very content, she looks so much better and is eating much more as she is relaxed being in a real homely environment. There is a choice of food at mealtimes and an endless supply of drinks for residents and visitors alike. I live away so when I visited mum it was for long periods of time and can honestly say all residents are treated with kindness and respect and nothing is too much trouble. Everywhere is spotlessly clean as is my mum. A huge thank you to everyone at Freestones from a very relieved daughter.
I recommend this care home to anyone.
I think it's the best care home where they look after wife absolutely fantastically. I could not ask for anything better and all the staff are wonderful.
My nan has been a resident of Freestones for over three years now, she is really happy there and calls it home, which is exactly what it is now, her home. I’ve had absolutely no worries at all that my Nan is receiving the care that she needs in the later stages of dementia. The staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and professional, the communication we get from the manager whenever there is a need is always spot on. The activities the home arrange for the residents are always great fun, there is never a dull moment, the other residents all seem happy and well looked after too which is comforting to see. I would easily recommend this residential home to anyone looking for a permanent place of residence for an elderly loved one.
My mother has been a resident at Freestones now for 12 months. She was 93 when she became a resident and is now 94 (and will be 95 in September). We looked at various homes where we thought she would be able to cope in a residential situation, and after finding Freestones we looked no further. Immediately she was welcomed into a warm, friendly, homely environment and this has continued throughout her stay. She has a private comfortable room where she can spend time alone if she wants to and there is a lounge area where residents can sit together and watch TV or do jigsaws, or read. Visitors are always made welcome by the staff and can join the residents in the lounge or in their rooms. She likes the food she is served and is treated well by the staff. She can get up and go to bed at times to suit her and the staff are always on hand to assist. We have peace of mind knowing that mum is cared for during the day and evenings, and we can visit whenever we want to.
Until last year when my mother moved into Freestones, we knew very little about care homes. At that time she had been in hospital for 3 months and we were told that it would be in her interests to enter a care home. We were given a number of homes where she could be admitted and the first on the list happened to be Freestones. Our intention was to visit all of them before making a decision but after being shown around and meeting the manager, we were so impressed with everything that on the spot we decided that this was where we would like my mother to spend the rest of her days. The loving care and attention afforded her is absolutely wonderful and it makes us very happy to realise that she could not be anywhere better. Not only that - we as visitors, are always made to feel as important as the residents! Thank you so much to the manger and all the staff.
My 89-year-old Dad has been a resident at Freestones for almost 18 months now. Right from the beginning he and my whole family have been welcomed open armed to Freestones Residential. Their caring for my father has been second to none. He appears happier, contented, relaxed and above all "well". My family and I are left at ease, in the knowledge of the fantastic daily welfare he is constantly being provided. Freestones Residential Care Home was strongly recommended to us. Because of their commitment and homely facilities, I would highly recommend them to others.
My Mother moved into Freestones just over twelve months ago and has settled nicely. She keeps telling us the food is just like "you get at home". Visitors are welcome at any time and the staff are always pleased to see you and look after Mum really well. The Manager ensures you are kept fully informed of any upsets, minor or otherwise, infections, illnesses etc. and the nurse/doctor are quickly called in if anything is amiss. This is a Home with a very caring and friendly atmosphere and I am so pleased that my Sister found this for our Mother. I would be more than happy to recommend this Home to anyone who needs looking after.
