View Full Details of Burton Oaks Residential & Dementia HomeI felt I had to do an updated review of Burton Oaks Residential & Dementia Home after my mum passed away. Mum loved the home and after being admitted to hospital she was desperate to get back there. Unfortunately, she became ill again and died at the home. The staff at Burton Oaks are truly amazing, I do not have the words to thank them for their compassion, caring, professionalism and genuine love. They looked after Mum but they looked after me and my family as well. Nothing was too much trouble for them in the hours before her death and the hours after. They did not intrude on our privacy but were there and so supportive with cuddles, tissues, cups of tea and food. The home is spotless, the food is good but the genuine feeling of being in your own home is what makes this place so special. It truly is an amazing place and although Mum's not there now, I have made friends and I will pop in every time I'm passing for a cup of tea.
Firstly, I'd like to start with thanking all the staff at Burton Oaks Residential & Dementia Home. The care provided to my nan has been exemplary from the start. The staff here are what make this home so special, from the care offered, the activities, to the family feel the care home exudes. The staff go beyond expectations and truly care for their residents. The home itself is warm, welcoming and spotlessly clean. Offering spacious seating and living areas for residents and their families to enjoy. Unfortunately, we required the assistance of staff to support my grandmother through end-of-life care. An extremely difficult time for us however these moments were made somewhat more bearable by staff showing their compassion and sympathy. The team allowed us to say our goodbyes, whilst kindly ensuring we were supplied with fresh drinks and tissues where necessary. I personally know that my nan loved being at Burton Oaks. It really is an amazing place for a much-loved family member.
My nan moved to Burton Oaks Residential & Dementia Home earlier this year after we decided it was no longer safe for her to be in her home. The care my nan has received in the home was, from the very beginning, of the most amazing standard. The staff are all so kind, caring and patient, they quickly formed a wonderful relationship with, first and foremost, my nan but, secondly, us, as a family! We have always been made to feel welcome and as if the care home was just plain and simply my nan's home. We have always found the home to be clean, comfortable and fun. A small care home with a huge heart.
I must say how good and appreciative I am for being able to give this review. My mum was moved to Burton Oaks Residential & Dementia Home about four years ago. The carer was kind and gentle to Mummy. We have been there up until now. Of course, we would have liked to have Mummy at home with us but, because of illness, we had no choice. After getting her settled down in Burton Oaks, it is the best place we could have ever found for Mummy. The manager and staff has been and is really attentive and kind. The hugs that are given to Mummy by the staff, the support they give, it is such a lovely sight to see. We have become like part of the team. We are always offered a cup of tea, biscuits etc. The entire room and floor are always clean. The weekly visits from the children are a delight to Mummy. The constant party and so on. Mummy's smile says to us Mummy is fine and well. I pray that God's mercy will always be with the manager and staff.
My mum entered Burton Oaks for 2 weeks respite maybe with a view to staying longer. After one week Mum had decided she wanted to stay as a permanent resident. She had lived in her own home for many years and had always refused to go into a home. At home, her days were spent in bed as there was no equipment to get her up. She was unable to have a shower. First day at the home she was hoisted into a wheelchair, ate in the dining room, was showered and hair cut and styled. She looked like a new woman. We took her to the local garden centre and tea shops. She loved to spend time in the garden, weather permitting. She loved it when the local children visited and she enjoyed the banter she had with the staff. Unfortunately, she developed another infection and couldn't fight this one off. The staff were very caring to her and to my family, Mum passed away after only two and a half weeks but I am comforted in the knowledge she died happy with her family around her and was well cared for until the end.
My friend moved to the care home ten months ago, due to her dementia. Throughout her stay, she was happy and accepted Burton Oaks Residential & Dementia Home as her home from the very start, regarding everyone as her friends. The ethos of the home is that it's a family home, all the staff treat the residents as part of one big family. I have always found the care given outstanding, welcoming and tailored to individual needs and enjoyed my time visiting. My friend had many enjoyable group outings and experiences during her stay, even ten-pin bowling! All the staff have been exemplary in the care and love they have shown to her and words cannot express the gratitude I have for them. The comforting, loving family atmosphere and the bright, clean house are a true testament to the excellent support and training the staff receive from the management. My friend received end-of-life care at the home, we could not have wished for more, the compassion, care and understanding shown by all was a huge comfort at a sad time.
I must place on record and express my full and sincere appreciation to all the staff for the way they cared for my late mum during her ten months at Burton Oaks. When Mum first arrived at the care home life and living had become very difficult for her being alone at home (not helped by the then-recent Pandemic and lockdown) and her declining health. Within two/three weeks of moving into the care home, she looked so much better. Her outlook on life, and her mental wellbeing, had changed completely for the better and this is down to the way Mum was looked after within the wonderful surroundings of Burton Oaks. All of the staff, irrespective of their role or position, encouraged and supported Mum so she was then able to engage with her fellow residents and partake in a wide range of activities – something she had not done for a long time. The smiles and laughter had returned!
This care home has been exemplary in its care for my Mother. Mum is blind, partially deaf, frail and has reduced cognitive ability. She has a lovely ensuite room which overlooks a garden and she has been able to customise her own room to her own wishes and has put up her own pictures, photos and uses her own bedding to make it feel like home from home for her. She is so well looked after. The stars of this home are the people who work in it. Without exception all the staff are amazing. They are kind, caring, thoughtful as well as ensuring everyone is included, looked after and kept safe. Food is good with regular mealtimes. Hygiene is great and Mum's needs are all met. As a family, we couldn't be happier. Mum is relaxed and feels at home after only three months. Birthdays and special events are celebrated and those who can are taken out for lunch or a visit to a park. If Mum is happy, then we are happy. Thank you to everyone at Burton Oaks Residential & Dementia Home!
This is absolutely the best place ever. I have been a resident for several months having come back from living in Cyprus. The staff are awesome...the manager is always there to talk to with any issues I have had. Four of the staff members in particular, I can relate to easily.....love them all. Best people and best staff ever.
So it’s been two years today that our dad was lucky enough to get into Burton Oak Residential Care Home. Admittedly, it took him a couple of weeks to get settled. But oh my God, how he has settled in and made himself at home now. He most certainly has made some happy memories. As we all know, Dad loves to sing and dance and act the clown. And with thanks to all the amazing staff, he still gets to do all this. Would just like to say a massive thank you from our family to the manager and her amazing staff that keep Dad happy.
I cannot praise Burton Oaks enough. The care, friendship, love and attention provided, is first-class. Staff communicate warmly, demonstrating, respect, understanding and empathy. Rooms are homely, beautifully clean and comfortable. The staff are caring, supportive and so very kind. Every time I visited I was made to feel so welcome. The cups of tea always offered made me feel as though I was visiting my mother-in-law her own home! Sadly today, we had to empty my lovely mother-in-law's room; it felt like we were saying goodbye to friends and family. My mother-in-law received the best and I cannot thank the team at Burton Oaks enough; not only for the care and attention she received, but also for the support to us as a family too.
My mother is being given excellent care at this lovely, friendly home. Nothing is too much for the hard-working staff. They are kind and patient. They listen to any concerns the relatives of residents may have. Visitors are offered refreshments which helps to make them feel welcome. The management are approachable and most helpful. I am so pleased that my mother has ended up in such a commodious residence.
Visiting my good friend here is never a chore! I am always welcomed and offered coffee and biscuits. It's a warm and cosy "home", and the staff are always kind and pleasant, and never have I witnessed any unkindness, shouting or disrespect. The home has a lovely "buzz" about it, is spotlessly clean, and the residents are happy, and friends and families are always invited to join in any special occasions here, i.e. the Jubilee tea, Christmas fayre, little Pantomime etc. Well done, all of you!
I want to thank all the staff at Burton Oaks Residential & Dementia Home for the care they gave to my dad and the support they have given to my sister and I on the death of my dad. Dad was a resident at Burton Oaks for two years and the kindness, patience and the humour shown to dad over those two years was something we won’t ever forget. Putting dad into a care home was really hard, but the staff at Burton Oakes welcomed him in and he became part of their family. So thank you again for everything you did for dad.
Mum has been a resident at Burton Oaks since 2020 and is very happy here. The staff and management are great, very friendly and caring and Mum regularly sings their praises. Whenever I have visited I have felt that it is a happy place and there seem to be lots of activities to keep the minds and bodies of the residents from deteriorating any faster than they should. My wife worked 10 years in the care sector and would tell you that this home is head and shoulders above any that she has been involved with. Thank you to all the staff, who obviously genuinely care for the residents. This is not just a job to them. I should also mention the kitchen staff of whom Mum has talked very favourably.
I wanted to thank all of the staff for making my aunt's 90th birthday so memorable. You had worked so hard to make it special, with a beautiful buffet, cakes, balloons, banners and even 90th serviettes and plates. Nothing was too much trouble and I am so very grateful. It felt like a big family party with staff and residents joining in the fun and my aunt really enjoyed it. My aunt has settled in so well and all credit goes to the staff. A big thank you, to you all.
Our aunt moved to Burton Oaks in January 2022, and it is such a relief she is receiving the constant care she clearly needs. The staff are wonderful, very caring and friendly. They obviously want the best for the residents. We celebrated our aunt's 90th birthday this week, and the staff really pulled out all the stops! They organised an enormous and delicious birthday tea, with 90th birthday decorations, for everyone, but also made sure we had private time with our aunt to open cards and presents first. They even arranged a video of photos, shown on a screen! We had no idea they would put in so much effort, so the whole family is delighted, and we are very grateful to everyone.
My father has been here for well over 2 years. As a family, including my father, we are very happy with the home, staff and management. My thoughts are that a care home is only as good as its staff and the staff here are excellent and tend to stay long term. The staff try very hard to make a real family feel to the home and make visitors very welcome. I would also like to praise all the staff, for going over and beyond during the pandemic. Without the care the staff gave my father, during this time, I know we would not have him now.
The Home is always clean and tidy. The staff are very friendly, attentive and always encourage residents to join in activities. Have no worries about Dad being there and they make you feel very comfortable when visiting. Has also been lovely attending the family events and seeing how much the staff seem to enjoy their work.
Wonderful! First I’m ashamed to say this review is well overdue. I’ve concluded it’s because right from day 1 we were so confident that we had chosen the right home for my dear mother-in-law that we could step back knowing she was ok. Along with guilt, the trauma of choosing a care home in the Pandemic, knowing we wouldn’t be able to visit her was traumatic! We did our homework online, Burton Oaks came first. We did a COVID safe visit, through windows and seeing a lovely model room (that ended up as hers! ) Instantly, her daughter and I both had a gut feeling she would have the care we could no longer give. All staff are wonderful. Phoning us with questions, and answering ours. Adjusting things as they got to know her definite likes and dislikes and medical, dementia needs. Also respecting her strong beliefs that haven’t faded even though she has, sadly. A trauma lessened with their care for her, and us too.
