View Full Details of ThorndaleThe staff are really helpful and caring couldn't ask for more, really happy dad is here. Always checking on him, keeping him entertained and keeping me updated as to any needs he may have. Thank you Thorndale!
Mum went into Thorndale for respite care when dad had an operation and couldn't care for her during his recovery. We've found the staff all very warm, welcoming, friendly and professional, from management to everyone else. Nothing is too much trouble and everyone is very accommodating to us all. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Thorndale to anyone looking for a care home. Our mum was very anxious about going in for care but settled almost immediately and joins in with many of the activities offered, we feel very secure with her there.
My mother was very fortunate to stay at Thorndale for approx. 4 weeks due to an emergency situation at her flat. The flat was flooded and she had to move out. As a family we were unaware of Thorndale even though we live locally to the care home. This was a very new experience for my mum who is 95 and to myself and my 2 sisters. If we had any concerns or worries they were quickly reassured by the amazing staff. This care home scores top marks on all levels from the clean surroundings, friendly environment and resident events and activities. Thank you again for looking after mum at such short notice and making her stay with you a very positive experience.
Absolutely fantastic care home! All the staff and management are absolutely amazing, nothing is ever too much for any of them and they really do do the best job, my Nan is here and she's well looked after and always says how nice all of the girls are. It's an absolute privilege to have such lovely people looking after her. Whenever me or any of my family visit they always make us feel welcome.
My mother has now been a resident of Thorndale for near on 3 months. Within this time I have also got to know the workings of this home and know most of the Staff and now feel I am suitably armed to submit a genuine and fair review. My mother absolutely loves Thorndale and has settled in immediately. The care staff are all true professionals and have shown my mother nothing but respect whilst offering her a first-class service. The management team are second to none and have kept me fully updated throughout my mother's stay. They are approachable and nothing seems to be a problem when it comes to my mother's care and comfort. I just wish I had found Thorndale years ago.
My nan came here for respite for one week and she absolutely loved it, to then go to living full time. She is so happy living at Thorndale and is very looked after; the staff and management are friendly/loving and so kind towards her, and we don't have to worry about her being cared for because we know she is very looked after in the best possible place. Nan always compliments all the staff saying how good they are at their jobs and they work very hard. And always says how lovely the food is.
My mother-in-law at 93 became more poorly and unable to cope and as my husband and I still work we were unable to give her the care she needed. We asked for a respite placement and we were given Thorndale as an option. The team leader and another staff member came out to assess and from that moment I knew it would be a good place for her. They treated her like an old friend and put her at ease about going. The place is bright, airy and welcoming and my mother-in-law has now become a resident and she is looked after very well. The staff make us feel very welcome when we visit and during the visit we see how much she is cared for and likes being there. The manager and the team leader are obviously busy people but they always take time out to talk to us when we are passing their door. The biggest thing I like is it doesn't matter who you talk to they know their people. If you phone or ask questions on a visit no one makes you feel as if you are a nuisance. Thank you Thorndale for the care that you give.
I have just spent one-week respite care at Thorndale Home in Kettering. It is one of the best experiences I have had in a long time. The staff, management and residents were fantastic, very friendly, made me feel at home. The food was very nice and enough of it. I am a big lady and could not fit into the bath as it was too narrow but the staff found a way to deal with my hygiene needs. I only have one complaint, I would have liked a clock on the wall in my room. The staff and management are a credit to Shaw Healthcare..
Fantastic care, my dad came to Thorndale from another home where he was down, unhappy and losing weight owing to the poor quality food. Now at Thorndale, he is brighter, happier and putting weight back on. The home is immaculate, the staff are kind and friendly and the management team are empathetic and supportive. I cannot recommend Thorndale highly enough.
My 93-year-old mother had become frail and thus dependent on my wife and me; we could not cope so had to look for residential care in the North Northants area. She had stayed at other homes in the area for respite care, but neither she nor we were entirely happy with them. We had a list of about ten homes, and Thorndale was the fourth on the list. We went to view Thorndale and stopped looking there and then. Thorndale was head and shoulders above any other home that we’d been to visit. My mother entered Thorndale and loves it. She seems much better physically and spiritually now that she is so well cared for. Thorndale has a combination of happiness and efficiency that we have not seen elsewhere. In particular, the staff are warm and caring; just as important is that they get things done when needed; we only have to ask once, and it’s done by the next time we visit. We are so pleased that my mother will enjoy the last years of her life safe and well cared for in Thorndale.
Thorndale is a lovely place, with very good staff. I am so relieved that my Mum is in such a good place. She settled in quite quickly, the staff all seem happy to be there and always speak gently to my Mum, who has dementia. I can tell that she is well looked after. I'm so grateful to the staff who work so hard.
My sister has been in Thorndale for over a year now, and she couldn’t be happier. She finds the staff all very nice. Caring, compassionate and nothing is too much trouble. My sister can be quite a fussy eater but she says the food is excellent. As someone who had never done crafts before she now enjoys doing them very much. Overall, she thinks the home is excellent, as do her relatives that visit.
My mum has been in Thorndale now for just over twelve months. I know it is very difficult in a care home setting for everything to be 100% all of the time but I think overall I am very happy with the way things have gone. Of course, there have been one or two blips in that twelve months but I feel the staff, under the management partnership of the managers, do an excellent job in what can be a very trying and demanding environment. I know it can be very hard working with ageing residents, some of whom have dementia plus other physical ailments and feel that Thorndale does its best to ensure the safety and well-being of its residents. Well done, keep up the good work.
Dad has lived at Thorndale for 3-4 years. In all that time, the care he has received has been amazing. The carers cannot do enough for him, even accompanying him to his wife's funeral. The rooms are basic but adequate and communication with family is excellent. Cannot praise the staff highly enough.
Mum stayed at Thorndale for respite care whilst her daughters were away on holiday. She was made very welcome and was impressed with the size of her room, the standard of cleanliness and the general positive feeling generated by the staff at Thorndale. She clearly enjoyed the choice of meals that were on offer and the care she received there which was of a consistently high standard. In particular, only having been able to have showers for a number of years, were the very bubble baths she was able to enjoy whilst there. This was the first time Mum had gone for respite care and after her experience this time she has no hesitation in wanting to stay there again, if needed. There was a wide range of activities on offer each day, and although she did not want to join in with these on this occasion, she was very surprised at how much there was to do there. Overall, it was a very happy experience for her.
The most amazing, caring and kind home I have ever been to. Our grandma is loved and cared for to the highest standard. Thorndale is so clean as is every resident I have seen, when we visit, the rooms are just like being at Grandma's house, just beautiful. Keep up the caring and loving work, it's amazing.
Mum has been at Thorndale now for two months, following a stroke and dementia diagnosis. Up until this time we (her family) were looking after her 24/7 at home for over 6 months. The decision to search for a Care Home for her was heart wrenching but what was the only way forward really as we were all struggling. This decision was made easier when after recommendations, we were able to talk to the manager and felt Thorndale was the place for mum. We feel lucky we were able to get a place for her. She has settled in well; her room is very homely and comfortable, and she loves the activities especially when they have ‘live entertainment'. She also loves her ‘bubble’ baths and the meals. The care team are dedicated and approachable and treat the residents with dignity and keep us informed of how mum is. Mum now calls Thorndale 'home', there can be no higher praise than that. Thanks for looking after our mum, we can rest knowing she is in good hands.
My mum has only been at Thorndale for a few weeks but the change in her mood is significant! She loves all the staff and enjoys their interactions too. The staff are so helpful and keep me informed of Mum's care. I couldn’t be happier to know Mum is being cared for so well, is in a lovely and safe environment and she is happy too.
My mother has settled and been given a new lease of life since arriving at Thorndale. The ease of making her room, truly hers, was fundamental. The staff are attentive and genuinely friendly. The family are welcomed and always offered a cuppa. Visiting is so pleasurable as Mum is socialising and taking part in activities so always has news and conversation. Her Alzheimer’s and poor mobility are given dedicated care which in turn, gives me and the family peace of mind. She is no longer experiencing periods of loneliness or feeling fearful: she’s happy and safe! She loves her room and the varied, tasty food. The management have been extremely professional and accommodating whenever I’ve had questions and their empathy is very comforting.
Mum has been a resident at Thorndale since September when it was confirmed that she needed 24/7 care. We chose this home based on existing reviews, and since then, it has been proven to be an excellent choice. Mum, despite her ongoing conditions, has settled in well, has been steadily showing signs of progress with no further visits to hospital, and is very happy in her new surroundings. If this is how Mum will spend the remainder of her life, then we couldn't wish for better. If Mum is happy, then so are we. Thank you to each and every one of the care team that look after her and the other residents. Words cannot express enough how grateful we are.
