View Full Details of The HeronsThe staff were always helpful and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. Mum was always treated with respect. She always looked well cared for. When she was ill she was always treated with dignity, as were her family. The home always had a nice atmosphere and staff and residents were always happy. Would recommend the home.
Friendly staff who have been kind to my mum. Plenty of fun activities throughout the week. A high standard of care that makes my mother feel safe. I've always been kept up to date on how my mother is especially her health.
My mum was admitted to The Herons Care Home some 6 months ago with unspecified dementia. She was a very active woman but unfortunately the dementia was aggressive and she passed away peacefully in December. During the time being cared for The Herons staff were amazing when looking after my mum but also helping our family through this terrible experience. The care home is clean, friendly and very functional. We cannot praise everyone enough for the care, information and how much love and attention they gave to my mum. Thank you everyone.
Excellent facility. Staff are all outstanding in carrying out their duties.
My dad has been at The Herons since February. I can't say enough good things about this place. The Herons has everything you could hope for, for a modern care home, yet retains a homely feel. Spotlessly clean and amazingly friendly and helpful staff. My dad is so well looked after here, it's been a massive weight lifted off me. They work so hard here, but still make time for a chat. Keep up the great work, and thanks for looking after Dad.
Everyone at The Herons is amazing. Mum couldn't be in a better place. Mum's room is lovely, the common areas are great. The food is great, I've been able to have lunch and tea with Mum on a few occasions. I love the jam sponge! I don't get to visit Mum very often so it's very reassuring to know she's in safe hands.
Following a positive and highly praising recommendation of The Herons, I felt confident that the home and its staff would meet my father's changing needs. How blessed and relieved I feel that he has now become a permanent resident. A weight has been lifted from my shoulders knowing that he is safe, happy, and well. When I visit I am pleased to see that my dad has company, is brighter, and stimulated by the varied planned activities. After living at the home for 2 months he is more settled than I had anticipated, always clean, smartly dressed, and certainly very well fed. Thank you to every member of the staff team who make The Herons such a happy place to be.
My father's recent respite stay led to him becoming a permanent resident. He has settled well and formed friendships. I love the fact that I am able to visit at any time. The staff are always warm and welcoming. I follow social media posts which enable me to see the great variety of fun activities on offer. Events provide an opportunity to gather with others e.g. the summer fair and the upcoming scarecrow festival. My father is treated with respect and love and I trust those who have chosen to care for him.
It seems as though I've been here forever. I think that my room is ideal. I suppose I'm lucky to have a ground floor room with an open outlook. I think the staff are very caring without being overpowering. The meals are of a good quality and sufficient in content to satisfy my appetite. The activities have been chosen very sensibly to accord with people's ailments and limitations. The staff and other residents are of a friendly nature and this helped me settle very quickly into the environment provided.
We cannot thank The Herons enough for the excellent care that they provided for my mum, who lived at the home for nearly three years. The staff and residents become one big family, creating a positive and upbeat atmosphere. The end-of-life care my mum received in particular was more than we ever could have hoped for; she was shown such love, dignity and affection. We would fully recommend The Herons to anyone who has a loved one in need of care.
I'm sorry it's taken a while to write this review; it's inexcusable because the care my mum received in the final months of her life was fantastic. From the manager through to every single staff member, caring for the residents is their absolute priority. I really can't praise The Herons enough. Most importantly, it's a happy, caring place, and you feel that from the moment you go in the door. Thank you, thank you, thank you; I would recommend this home to anyone.
Cannot speak too highly of the care my mum got in The Herons. Nothing was too much trouble for them and all the staff were very caring, conscientious and courteous.
When my aunty passed away I found that all the staff at the Herons Care Home were so caring and considerate. Nothing was too much trouble and they were so helpful. Thank you.
My father was given excellent care by all staff. We could not have wished for anything better. The staff were caring and helpful and we were greeted always with a smiley face. The food was excellent.
Mum was only a resident in The Herons Care Home for just over a month during which time all the staff involved with looking after her were kind and attentive. When she passed away the staff were equally kind to us as a family. We will always be grateful for making her last few weeks as comfortable as possible and for the care and kindness they showed her. Thank you.
I have been very pleased with the care of the residents and the activities held to engage the residents mentally and physically. The volunteers have been particularly good with regard to the recent death of the Queen. The rooms are fabulous, meals are of a good standard and my father is always very smart and clean looking.
Very nice friendly home, lovely staff. Mum always says the food is very nice. I feel very reassured she is safe, happy and being looked after. 5 star!
Our aunt was a resident at The Herons for over two years. We spent some time looking at care homes before deciding on The Herons and never regretted our decision. The staff were always friendly and attentive, the home was kept clean and the food was of good quality. There was a variety of activities and all opportunities for special events were celebrated. Our aunt chose not to take part in many of the daily activities but was always given the opportunity and she enjoyed her interaction with many of the staff. We were pleased with the way the home managed the covid situation ensuring adequate supplies of PPE and their attempts to protect the residents as well as possible. It was unfortunate that some residents did contract the virus but we appreciate it was a very difficult time for the staff to manage. Our aunt became ill and it was obvious that she had limited days to live during restricted visiting times. The staff allowed close family to visit for however long they wanted.
My mother-in-law was a resident at The Herons for 16 months until her death in February 2021. The staff did a wonderful job of helping her to cope with increasing infirmity and encouraging her independence which was really important to her and to us. She enjoyed doing a whole range of activities and particularly appreciated the weekly church services. Her care always felt like teamwork between ourselves and the staff with her needs and wishes kept front and centre. During the lockdown, the staff went above and beyond to keep residents safe and keep their spirits up. Lockdown birthdays were still made special and a huge effort went into helping family and friends to stay in touch. The end-of-life care they provided was exceptional, she was looked after with dignity, professionalism and most importantly, a great deal of love. We were able to make visits and were also very well supported by that same love and care. We could not have asked for more and think that The Herons is a really exceptional care home.
My Dad lived at The Herons for 2 years, and he was extremely well cared for the whole time until he passed away last month. The whole team are a credit to MHA, from the maintenance man to the carers to the management team. I got to know quite a few of the staff and they all gave me a friendly welcome when I visited before the lockdown. Then during the lockdown, the communication from the team in the office is brilliant, they update the families on all the activities they are putting on for the residents, and send regular emails about any changes that are being put in place to ensure the care is maintained at the same high level. The team give a real sense of being a family, nothing is too much trouble for their residents. And this has continued over the last few months even when they have been under a lot of pressure. They work very hard to make sure everyone is safe. I can't thank them enough for the care they gave to my Dad.
