View Full Details of The Rookery Care HomeI will always be grateful to the staff for the kindness, care and compassion shown to my mum. All the staff are friendly and make us feel very welcome when we visit. The management team are friendly and approachable and deal with any issues and queries.
Moving my brother to a care home was a hard decision for our family, but moving him to The Rookery has been the best decision we have made, the place is very homely and staff are great with him as he can be difficult, now he's settled and so are we and we can relax knowing he is in great care.
My mother-in-law is in The Rookery, the staff make you feel so welcome, they go out of their way to help you, the activities coordinator is so full of life and makes them smile, he is amazing with them, the two managers go out of their way to help you, the home smells lovely all the time.
My mum has been at The Rookery for almost 2 years and in all that time she has been treated with kindness and empathy. The staff are all really good and I feel so welcome on my visits.
I would like to point out the level of care and attention and respect that my mother has received whilst at the The Rookery, the staff are caring and very attentive to her requirements. I know she is very comfortable and happy with her day-to-day environment. We also made very welcome on our visits, making it an enjoyable afternoon whilst spending time with my mother the staff clearly put the needs of others first and they do it extremely well with lots of care.
My mother-in-law is loved, warm, safe and cared for, which are the main priorities for us. You always are welcomed into the home at any time of the day, with the offer of a cuppa.
The Rookery is really homely and the staff are brilliant!
So glad we found a place for Dad at The Rookery. It's such a homely and down-to-earth place. The staff treat residents like family and relatives are treated the same. It's not posh or clinical like some and it's altogether better for that. We can visit Dad whenever we want no appointment/time limits (apart from after bedtime) and we are kept in the loop at all times. Perfect place for Dad, he loves it there.
Their understanding, care and attention to detail towards residents is a pleasure to see.
Mum lived for over four years at The Rookery Care Home. She was not just given care by the staff but she was made to feel at home and was loved by them too. That's what makes The Rookery Care Home stand out as a good residential home. Whilst providing quality professional care, they have somehow fostered a family atmosphere that felt warm and welcoming.
My mum was at The Rookery Care Home for around four years. Not a 'state of the art' care home but my word, the caring attitude and extra effort put in was second to none. Mum had always had anxiety and staff moved heaven and earth to try and help, especially at the end. Genuine upset when she died and had masses of support for her family. She felt like part of the family.
Friendly, welcoming staff. Very spacious with room to move around. Private area to go and spend time with residents, so other residents aren't distracted. On my visit, a fundraising event was taking place, so was rather busy in the garden.
My mum was admitted on respite. They got her settled very quickly, sorted out food as she is intolerant of various foods and checked on her regularly, if they hadn't, she would be dead. Can't thank them enough!
My father has been at The Rookery Care Home for two years. He came from hospital in the first lockdown, in very difficult circumstances. The manager accepted him and she has been incredible, a calm lady, professional, knowledgeable and part of the team I cannot speak too highly of. The team now are incredibly caring, thoughtful and hardworking, I can say this from nursing my father, who has sadly passed away, I have witnessed night shifts, days - a professional management team. From cleaners to care workers to the seniors, I have only seen dedication, true vocations, I have been bowled over. Sensitivity to residents, to me - friendship. The home has improved over the two years, I have witnessed so much, I still think grooming and ironing can be improved but it wasn't until I watched how it all worked that I have been so impressed with this family-feel atmosphere. There are certain members of staff who are incredible - the deputy manager is wonderful. The care and manner of another member of staff is professional, kind and he is loved by the residents. The senior carer is switched on, was my father's carer and knew my need to see him in ironed clothes and their relationship was wonderful. I could continue. All of the staff showed warmth and love which meant everything to me. I have to comment that, as the government say 'unskilled workers', this is an insult and there is no reality to what these carers have been through, through lockdown. It is unbelievable that carers have to deal with so much death, looking after their residents and also the family. I have the deepest respect for them all. The Rookery is sweet, not a fancy care home but these carers never stop. I am now proud to call them my friends. There is a comment that the carer mustn't get attached to the resident, this is impossible and as a family member, I want them to care and really feel loss because I could see my father was truly cared for. I will never forget the support, help and love I have been wrapped in. I was presented with a heart cushion made from one of his shirts. This is above and beyond, this is care.
My sister is well looked after, food looks nice. Staff friendly.
My mum moved into The Rookery mid August. We were very worried as she has Alzheimer's and we as a family had been caring for her at home for 3 and a half years but she had advanced rapidly, so needed full time care. The move was very easy and Mum settled in well especially as the staff were so friendly and attentive. We were left at ease and Mum is happy and very settled.
My father has been in The Rookery for the last four years. In that time, he has always been very well looked after and cared for. He is always clean and well-fed. The staff are excellent; always very helpful, and whilst this pandemic has been on, nothing is too much trouble for them. I only had to ring up and they would sort things out for me.
The Rookery is Mum's home, rather than just "a care home", the staff are more than just carers, they are Mum's friends. The Rookery is an interesting and welcoming home, with varied areas for the residents, plenty of space and light. Staff are always friendly and chatty, Mum really appreciates all they do for her. They know exactly how to lift Mum's spirits. Mum's diet has improved so much since moving in, she is fitter and healthier and has been gently encouraged to eat a far more varied menu. Mum's room is comfortable, and I was able to personalise it with her photos and other mementoes. I know Mum is happy, safe and well. Staff efforts through the pandemic have been above and beyond the call of duty. I have been able to chat with Mum even when unable to visit, but also to talk with the staff and know exactly how things are going. I am so pleased and grateful that Mum has been at The Rookery through this time.
I was worried about my wife going into care, but for the last year, I am so grateful for the care she has been given and all the help the staff have given me. I can't think of anything I'm not satisfied with. My wife has a few health problems and the staff take all those into consideration. Thanks to the manager and all the fantastic staff.
Warm and friendly place, very caring staff.
