View Full Details of Sherwood HousePositive stay. Staff are very friendly and professional. Room comfortable. Food good, but sometimes not quite hot enough for me. Felt well cared for and looked after. House and grounds beautifully maintained. Would happily stay again.
A very nice care home. My room was very nice with a television and a reading chair. Would have liked a personal shower in the bathroom. I liked the white table cloths and napkins in the dining room - very civilised. The staff care excellent, friendly and nothing too much trouble. First weened a little tricky as management not around (arrived 6:30 in the evening), so issues with diet as diabetic and had been told there would be diabetic food available but there wasn't but sorted out by Mum. I also couldn't use my radio or hair drier as needed PAT testing and no-one could do it!
My mother in law has been resident in Sherwood House since January 2018. The staff deliver care that is excellent, professional, compassionate and individual. The rooms are light, spacious and homely. The home is set in gardens that are delightful and beautifully maintained. I would have no hesitation in recommending Sherwood House.
My mother was looked after exceptionally well at Sherwood House. All of the staff were really loving towards her and I really do not think that she could have been better looked after.
We are very pleased with the care mum is receiving and the overall standards of the home. More importantly, she is delighted with things as well.
My mother came into Sherwood House in July of this year, quite poorly and very weak. Mother came from another nursing home in Birmingham. Since arriving at Sherwood House, her condition has improved 100% and she is eating most of her food at every mealtimes. She has gained weight and her strength and walking ability have returned. Mother is a lot brighter and happier. The staff are excellent and very kind to Mum at all times.
To entrust a loved one into the hands of others is arguably one of the most significant and difficult decisions that a son has to make and it is therefore, vital to have confidence in the information on which such a decision is based. There are, of course, many factors to take into account, such as the location of the home and the setting; and of course (crucially) the quality of care. I continue to be overwhelmed by the constant kindness and compassion of the Staff at Sherwood House. Nothing appears to be too much trouble and this, in addition to their friendliness and genuine warmth, is a credit to them all. Consequently, every time I say goodbye to my mother at the end of a visit, I am able to drive away in the certain knowledge that she is safe, secure, treated with dignity and respect and she is extremely content; and that for me is absolutely priceless. I cannot praise Sherwood House enough.
My 90 yr old mother was admitted to Sherwood House in January of this year. None of us knew at that time how seriously ill she was, her GP subsequently informed us that she might only have a matter of weeks to live. Thanks to the dedication, care and love she received from all the staff, day and night, she has now recovered. I will never forget their kindness. All the staff are exceptionally friendly and thoroughly well-trained thanks to the professionalism of the manager. The home itself is a delightful place, spotlessly clean, set in landscaped gardens with excellent home-cooked meals. It is such a relief to know that mum is in such a safe and caring environment, I honestly hope that I myself will be lucky enough to live there when my time comes!
I looked at many homes before choosing Sherwood House for my mother. Others may have had more activities and support staff but were frenetic. Sherwood House was calm, quiet, clean and welcoming. On her arrival from the hospital, she loved the setting and the room was amazed at how kind the staff were and felt if she had to be in a home, she couldn't do better than here. As a family, we feel she is with people who care, listen and act. It may not be HER home but everyone helps make it feel as similar as possible - we could not ask for more. If you are thinking of Sherwood House for your relative, go and visit, meet the staff and ask other residents/relatives for their view. I doubt you will be disappointed.
My aunt has been a resident at the home for 11 years and has just died at the age of 103. She has received outstanding. Loving care throughout her time there. The house is beautifully cared for and is always immaculate. All the staff, from the manager to the cooks are superb and I would recommend the home to anyone.
