View Full Details of The TrocThe Troc staff are friendly and approachable. The office staff are always friendly and helpful when answering any emailed queries. Housekeeping keep The Troc clean and tidy and odour-free. Mother (resident) has the hairdresser spruce up her hair every week making her feel and look good. Chiropodist sorts her feet out once a month. All Mother's needs are catered for and we feel she is being well looked after.
My mum is in The Troc at the time of writing this review. She has settled in with the care and help of the lovely staff and other residents. Mum enjoys her meals, and the daily activities. Mum's room is on the ground floor looking out at the garden and seating area, which is lovely. The Troc is lovely and clean and all the staff from the manager down are friendly and attentive.
The care home is a lively, well-run place. It is clean, has good facilities and there are daily events for the residents. The staff are very friendly and I must say that I was very impressed by the patience and compassion of the staff.
Very friendly all staff. Nice and clean. Good food for residents, excellent choice of food. All staff are very easy to approach if we have any questions or need any help. It feels like a big extended family.
Excellent carers, all very attentive to my mum. Good entertainment daily and activities. Excellent variety of meals daily. Rooms very spacious, well-maintained, painted and decorated lovely. Security is a must and always adhered to.
My father was placed at this facility for respite care. On his admission he was mobile with one person by his side, eating and drinking with assistance and generally well considering his Alzheimer's diagnosis. He was non-verbal and unable to communicate his needs which meant he was vulnerable. In the 2 weeks he was at this facility, he lost a lot of weight, became immobile and looked unkept, wearing other residents' clothing and other residents had my father's clothes on. My father suffered horrific neglect due to the fact he was not able to communicate and tragically he died a few days after leaving this 'so called' care home. This facility had an extension which doubled the capacity of residents it could hold. This opened at the beginning of March 2024. They did not have the staff to cope with the influx of residents. CQC did a report in January 2024 which gave them a 'good' rating. I literally begged the CQC to re-inspect this facility due to the changes but they didn't. Appalling!
I wish to express my gratitude to all staff, frontline and behind the scenes for the excellent care provided to my father and my family. Thier hard work, empathy and love will never be forgotten.
My Mother has been a permanent resident since March 2024. It was a very difficult decision not to take care of her ourselves but the night times were of great concern and her safety was our number one priority. The Troc was the only home we looked around and felt it to be a good choice for our Mum. The management staff were open and honest when answering our questions. We were showed a beautiful light and airy room with an en-suite bathroom in the new extension. All the care staff greeted us with a polite hello and took the time to speak with Mum too. It was apparent that the residents were treated with great respect and the care and attention given by all staff members was reassuring to see. Now four months later Mum is settled and has made some nice friendships and loves all her carers. There will always be teething problems when you are expected to live with total strangers. However, the staff work really hard to make every resident feel valued, special and included. Thank you.
The Troc Care Home staff are very welcoming, friendly, attentive and competent. The management are efficient well organised and proactive. The recent new wing is a welcome addition, modern and well laid out. The older parts of the care home building need modernising and finishing.
I cannot praise the care my husband receives at The Troc any higher than I do. On my recommendation, our friends also were residents until they sadly passed away. One thing I shall always remember is my friend's wife was confined to her room due to being seriously ill; he said to me, ‘she wouldn’t get better care in Harley Street’. The first time I visited The Troc was shortly after my husband had been admitted from the hospital, and within minutes, I weighed up the standard of care, watching the way the staff interacted with the residents, and knew it was the best. I escorted my husband via ambulance to get his pacemaker checked, and when we returned, I pushed him inside in his wheelchair, and he said to me - ‘this is a nice place, isn’t it’; that meant the world to me. Everyone employed at The Troc is the best, and that is what makes it excellent.
Dad moved to The Troc end of November 2021 due to declining health with Parkinson’s and a hip fracture. The team at The Troc were welcoming and friendly helping Dad adjust to his new surroundings and also helping us as a family transition to the change of Dad being in full-time care - a change that was difficult for us all. The carers are wonderful with Dad accommodating his specific needs and his reluctance to socialise and conform, his stubbornness, pain, and anxiety can make some days difficult for Dad, the family, and the care team, but they always treat him and us with such compassion and care. The Troc is a home from home and the decor is not the most salubrious but the care is exceptional and for us that is the most important thing. When Covid outbreaks happened in 2022 the team made sure we had regular updates and answered our calls and questions with patience and clarity. The staff always welcome us with a smile and management are visible, approachable, and available.
The care my mother-in-law gets from The Troc is exceptional, the staff are brilliant, they make her feel special, and she is so happy there she calls it home. When she first went into The Troc in January she was so ill we thought we would lose her, the staff gave us peace of mind in the care and attention they gave her as well as looking after the other residents. They make each resident feel special and it's that care that turned my mother-in-law's life around and each time we visited her we saw a vast and positive improvement and thanks to the staff and management of The Troc she is well and we have peace of mind knowing she is safe and well looked after.
I absolutely love this care home for my mum xx the whole staff/maintenance are just amazing always going above and beyond with excellent care. The home always smells lovely and clean. Mum is always given a choice of meals, to pick from. They have a range of activities, and to have her hair done. And to have a choice on how she would like her room decorated. Mum also loves her showers
My dad came to the Troc from hospital during Covid. We have not looked around any other care homes as he is happy and settled. The staff go above and beyond and ‘get him’! Nothing is too much to ask and the care home and manager have been adaptable to my circumstances.
My father has resided at The Troc for nearly three years, and during that time they have treated him with the utmost respect and kindness. He is not an easy man to care for, but they have shown limitless patience and understanding. I would not hesitate to recommend The Troc to anyone looking for a very homely care home. The team are very efficient at keeping me informed and always available for a chat. When we lost my Step Mum last year they could not have done more for us or been more caring and supportive.
My Mum, my world. Comfortable and as happy as she can be. She is well looked after and is looking healthy and well cared for. The staff could not be more helpful, always helpful and polite, I know my mum is in good hands.
The staff at the Troc cared for my mum for several years before she passed away in March. They were kind and caring, despite my Mum's occasional stubbornness! Towards the end of her life, they not only looked after my mum but also took care of us and I am truly grateful. Care homes are not about facilities, they are about the quality of the staff. The Troc is wonderful in that regard.
My Father who had dementia and Parkinson's disease was a resident from Dec 2018 until his death on 19th May 2021. As a family we chose the Troc after considerable research. A key concern was his adapting to life in residential care but this definitely proved to be a good decision as he was very happy there. All the staff were extremely caring, attentive, patient, compassionate and helpful and it was very apparent that whilst remaining very professional, they were also extremely fond of him. Some danced with him, others played dominoes with him but all liked to spend time with him. The covid pandemic severely restricted access to visit him until his last few weeks of life but the manager and staff were as accommodating as the rules would allow. His end-of-life care was absolutely phenomenal and was a great comfort to us as a family. I would not hesitate to recommend the Troc to any prospective residents and their families.
Over the last six days, my family and I have been at The Troc every day as we thought my father was dying. He’s subsequently improved a bit but we’ve had several nerve-wracking and emotional days. During that time we have seen the staff, junior and senior, treat my father with huge compassion and tenderness. It’s been lovely witnessing their interactions. I know there’re other homes in the area with more salubrious decor etc. but times like this show that’s it’s the care and the genuine warmth of relationship that really matters. The staff have also been lovely with us, the family.
Great communication from senior staff regarding my mum and Covid updates, such as vaccination and visiting updates. Love the personal touches such as making music CDs for residents with favourite music.
