View Full Details of Westcliffe Care HomeMy mother is a resident at Westcliffe Care Home. She has been in the care of Westcliffe for 10 months so far. The carers at Westcliffe love my mum and have worked wonders on her overall wellbeing. They give her kindness, respect, and are sensitive towards her needs. Since being in care her mobility has improved as has her overall strength. The staff are also very welcoming and caring towards visitors including my father, he gets treated so well when visiting his wife on a regular basis. The Manager's doors are always open and very easy to communicate with. The atmosphere at Westcliffe Care Home can only be described as 'home from home'. Excellent homemade meals. I would recommend Westcliffe 100% for anyone looking for a small home where the carers are wonderful and 'patient, polite, professional'. Keep up the brilliant work you do.
All members of staff were most cooperative on my visiting. My husband was always clean and appropriately dressed. Staff invited residents to join in memory games which pleased me and also discussed photographs on display in their rooms and often showing their own photographs too. Everywhere was very clean - no smells!
We have used a few homes in the past, but Westcliffe is by far the best. The staff team could not do more. They love the residents as their own.
I am very happy with Westcliffe. My mum has been there for a year and has settled in so well. The staff do a wonderful job and are very friendly and always ready to talk if we have any concerns about Mum. If there was one thing to change, I would like easier access to the garden for Mum in her wheelchair - a paved path would make a big difference, as she loves being outside.
My mother-in-law has settled well into Westcliffe Care Home and is generally very happy there despite her progressing dementia. Her room is really nice and the communal rooms, gardens and food are all great but the standout feature of the home is the staff. They are all so kind and lovely to her and us, making it feel like a real home-from-home. We are really glad we chose a small care home like this as the personal service and care is excellent. Because it's such a small, friendly team any issues can easily be discussed and resolved.
There seems to be a friendly atmosphere in the home. This is facilitated by the majority of staff. My concern would be the lack of activities available to the residents. Apart from the Christmas carols, there doesn't seem to be much on offer, although I am informed that this is something the organisation is looking into. I am somewhat concerned about staff shortages, as on a recent visit, the staff were worryingly stretched, but the staff present were working hard to make up for this. On balance, this is the best care option in our vicinity, and meets our needs adequately.
Mum was in Westcliffe Care Home for four weeks of respite care. She was made to feel very welcome. All the staff were very friendly and supportive. Her room was comfortable and beautifully decorated, as was the rest of the place. She said that she enjoyed her stay and would definitely want to go back if the need arose. The Westcliffe staff asked us to let them know how she got on when returning home and even lent us a commode when we had trouble with delivery.
When we were unable to care for Mum on our own we looked at plenty of care homes. When Mum's carers suggested Westcliffe - because they'd seen the care in action - we visited. We all agreed it was the best home available for this final season. Mum settled in well and we feel that she is treated like family by everyone there. Her room overlooks the garden and there is ample room. If I could change one thing I would employ an entertainment/activity person to bring an extra sense of interest to each long day there.
Westcliffe is a fantastic care home. The staff make it - they give their all, working so hard, under tough circumstances. Sometimes, the food leaves Mum disappointed when no cook is on duty. The activity lady left and has not been replaced, so there is no planned entertainment, except the TV. Mum's clothes and bed linen have been lost on several occasions, as the laundry is offsite. But the staff are so friendly to us and so caring and loving to Mum, that I'd recommend the home to anyone.
My sister-in-law is a resident at Westcliffe Care Home. Throughout her stay staff have shown kindness, sensitivity and professionalism in their everyday care. They keep relatives informed of any changes or concerns. The care home provides activities and entertainment for residents and they all love a sing-along. They also invite relatives to family events. I would recommend Westcliffe Care Home for anyone who is looking for a smaller, more intimate home where carers know each resident and are able to interact on a personal level.
Westcliffe Care Home was just that... a home from home when the world was in lockdown and my frail mum needed to be looked after. We were at the other end of the world, worried, helpless and unable to assist in any way possible. The management and staff were wonderful and Mum settled in immediately. She enjoyed the last few years of her life in comfort and safety with the companionship she had missed living on her own. I could write reams but our experience with Westcliffe can be summed up in the words of a staff member who said about the Residents... "They are family."
This is a warm and friendly home with caring staff. Tasty meals are freshly prepared and cooked in the kitchen. The garden is attractive with lawns, shrubs and bird feeders. The beds and chairs are very comfortable.
The resident was my best friend and was at Westcliffe for 3 years. He was treated with great respect and loved by all the staff. I cannot speak highly enough of the care he received from management and staff. Westcliffe has lovely gardens which my friend enjoyed as gardening was one of his passions. The food is great, all freshly cooked and he always enjoyed 'Fish n Chip' Friday. I would also mention the great communication from Westcliffe about my friend. The way the home handles Covid was very professional and gave you great confidence in the Management and staff. I would recommend Westcliffe anytime.
