Mum has received superb care at Hawthorn Lodge. The staff go above and beyond in their daily care and support and in accompanying her to hospital and doctor's appointments. The atmosphere is friendly and upbeat like a home from home and visitors are made most welcome. There are celebrations like fireworks night and birthdays and various activities and treats for residents. Mum is happy and stimulated and really loves the food provided. The dedicated and caring staff treat all the residents as individuals and mum is thriving socially.
Every time we visit my uncle, we feel welcomed as one of the family. Someone always comes to check on him whilst we're in his room so I feel his safeguarding is paramount to the home. He is never without a hot drink and something to eat. His face lights up when the staff talk to him. He was in quite a bad place prior to residing at Hawthorne Lodge but he has most definitely improved and seems content. I don't want to sound patronising but I need to tell you that each and every single one of you are doing an amazing job. I don't think you realise how important it is, as a relative, that we leave our visit knowing our relatives are safe and being looked after by people who care. Thank you isn't enough.
Every time I visited, the staff have been welcoming, friendly and have time for a chat if I have any questions. Nothing ever seems too much. My brother is happy and settled.
My dad has been a resident at Hawthorne Lodge for almost a year now. He was a tricky customer when he first arrived at the care home due to his deteriorating physical and mental health and mood but within a few months he had settled well, thanks to the wonderful care team. As a nurse myself, I have visited many care homes during my career and although this isn’t the ‘poshest ‘ or ‘most plushly decorated’ care home, I feel that it’s the staff and care and love provided by the staff that make a care home a ‘home’. The staff are second to none and there are some real gems of carers there. I leave my dad there knowing that he is well cared for. Dad enjoys the food a lot. He doesn’t really partake in any activities but he is settled and has made some friends within the home. The manager and senior staff are all approachable and keep me informed of any issues straight away. The GP from the local surgery who provides health care is also good and keeps me updated.
Communication isn't always great between us and the staff, however, my uncle is happy. We know he loves his meals and he has a good variety of meals he also loves his cups of tea. The staff are always very friendly and polite, and my uncle's care and understanding of him is good. (They know his funny little ways).
My brother really enjoys it at Hawthorn Lodge. Staff are very friendly and all his needs are met. Updates to me are very good.
My mum arrived at this care home extremely distressed and suffering from severe dementia. This home brought my mum back from the brink of despair and confusion to the mum we knew and loved. I have no idea how they did this but they did. Suffice to say that when my mum passed she had been her old self for 3 months and both the staff and ourselves were equally as sad to lose her. I could not recommend this home enough. They didn't just care for our mum - they cared for us!
My mother was in this care home for 9 yrs, the care that she received was extremely good over the years. My mother had vascular dementia and over the last few years mother got quite nasty and lash out. But the care home coped with this very well. The care she received never faltered. Mum passed away on the 17th Jan 2020. The care home allowed us to have the wake at the home and they really did her well.
Excellent care and empathy. Always keeps me informed of any health issues etc.
The staff are very friendly and caring towards residents and visitors. They go above and beyond what I expected of them.
My mum has been in Hawthorn Lodge now for almost 2 years. I am so grateful for the care and kindness shown to her. When she is ill, we are kept informed and her GP contacted without delay. My mum's dementia is advanced, so it is difficult for her to join in with activities but she is provided with pampering, hand massages and her feet tap to the music when artist are on. Management and staff are always approachable, professional and kind.
Very impressed with home and staff.
I have always found Hawthorn Lodge very good and with my mother-in-law is happy there and loves her flat. She likes watching television in her room but if she wants company, she goes into one of the lounges. I have no problems with the staff of the way she is looked after. Thank you.
I find the home very friendly, staff are good and helpful. The decor of the home is very good.
I was very reluctant for my father going into care but my mind was put to rest early on, made me and my dad a part of Hawthorn Lodge family and can carry on with daily life knowing my dad is safe.
Staff and management very helpful at all times. My mum has had a good time since she has been here.
My experience has been very good, I have met my love for the rest of my life living at Hawthorn Lodge.
My uncle has settled in very well. He has good relationships with all staff. They understand hs illness but still treat him as "normal". He's able to laugh and joke with all.
On entering, welcomed by the staff who directed us to my sister. The lounges were spacious and well maintained. The residents were content and looked well looked after. The staff were pleasant and helpful.
