The staff's care and attention to individual needs are always at the front of the excellent service delivered by the team at this home.
I was very reluctant to put my mum in a home as anybody would be, she has been in this home for a year now and settled straight away, it's home from home for my mum and I could not be happier. The staff are very caring and the activities here are brilliant. I myself feel very relaxed and happy when I visit my mum, it's like one big family.
Can't thank the wonderful staff of Southwell Court enough. Kind, compassionate, respectful of dignity, fun, caring, upbeat but sympathetic when needed - 10/10. Care home is clean to a high standard, food lovely, regular tea, coffee and cake! I know my mum is well looked after, can't ask for more. Lots of lovely activities but also no pressure, nice spaces to watch the world go by and lovely garden. Highly recommend. Top floor being refurbished so can see investment!
Clean, homely, friendly and welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Lovely garden with easy access. The family encouraged to join residents for meals. I often come here for Sunday lunch. All staff are excellent and some are outstanding. I feel my husband is in safe hands.
My wife is happy and healthy physically therefore I am happy too. All the staff seem to be caring and loving people. Dementia has its problems for everyone but at Southwell Court everyone has patience. As seen by my ratings I have a good opinion of the building and the facilities and would commend the home.
The staff are extremely kind and delicious food is served and plenty of it. I am very comfortable in Southwell Court.
A pleasant and friendly atmosphere exists, smiling and helpful staff. The rooms are tidy, clean and homely. Residents seem happy, relaxed and some are pleased to engage in banter with the staff. A tidy yet interesting garden enables all to access it. The interaction with herbs is good and needs to be encouraged. It feels safe and secure as one enters the building.
Lovely care home with very attentive staff. My mother is very happy in Southwell Court.
I find the staff very helpful and lovely. I am very happy here I like the decor if feels homely.
My wife has been in this care home for one and a half months and during that time I have paid frequent visits at different times of day. She settled in beautifully after the upheaval of the first day and has been happy and content since then. I have observed many acts of kindness and care, including the occasional kiss. The staff are always very understanding and helpful to me in dealing with suggestions or admin details. When telling others of my wife's permanent residence at Southwell Court, I have been amazing at how many have had family members, friends, or neighbours who have passed favourable comments about the care received. I have not heard one single complaint. Her bedroom and the ensuite wet room are immaculate, together with the communal areas such as the dining room, lounge and corridors etc. I have not sampled the food provided, but judging from the menu, I fully expect that the same standard of excellence will apply. The management and administration before and since my wife's arrival has been first class. Well done to all at Southwell Court.
If someone is in reasonable health and a resident on the ground floor Southwell Court is a pleasant care home, with some kind and welcoming carers though problems stem from staff shortages, not recognised/acknowledged by management though recognised as a problem by others. The staff often rushed and stretched with little time to interact with residents. Social activity staff do a great job but have to cover three floors. It has been noted there is inconsistency in the level of basic personal care (nails, hair, shaving). When concerns are raised they are dealt with quickly but often reoccur. The lounge on the first floor is like a waiting room, often with people shouting for help. Described by my husband as a 'dumping ground'. The building is light and airy and the well kept garden is a lovely place to sit.
Although there are some caring members of staff, there are sadly not enough dedicated carers to provide a consistent level of care. The garden at the rear is pleasant for the residents to enjoy in the winter months.
Brilliant care from lovely and attentive staff. Well appointed - very clean building with lovely rooms and superb garden. Great food.
The service user has been a resident at Southwell Court since April 2021. A survivor of Covid, she was still very ill and frail on admission. The excellent nursing care, good food and attention to her specific needs all helped to restore her to much better health. More recently, during an episode of ill health, the management respected her wishes not to go into the hospital. This entailed the manager having to arrive over 20 miles to obtain the reassuring medication - "literally going the extra mile". Total dedication, care and compassion.
It was the hardest decision. Which care home do we "put" our close friend in. Even the language was harsh. A nurse I met spoke very highly of Southwell Court, and so in May 2019, I visited them (the 3rd such visit? to see how they measured up to my expectations. I was very impressed with what I saw, what I heard and how I felt after the initial visit. My gut instincts told me this was the right place - and four years on, I'm so pleased I followed my instincts. The staff showed genuine care and concern for my friend. They kept me frequently informed of her condition. Even during the peak of Covid, I felt that the management team were across every aspect of bio-safety and security. Every time I called to ask about my friend and her welfare, I was given an informed, sensitive and knowledgeable update. All in all, Southwell Court Care home was a godsend - and I can't speak highly enough of the care home manager, her team and their supporters. Thank you, team Southwell Court (Care Home)!
All my experiences are so good! Everyone is friendly and helpful. No complaints at all! Lovely happy girls who can't do enough for you. I would recommend it thoroughly in every way. The food is always superb!
My mum was sent to Southwell care home one week before Christmas 2022 for emergency care. All the staff are amazing; they all looked after my mum with 100% care and respect. The rooms are always clean and tidy, and Mum enjoyed the food provided.
My dad passed away in December 21, and after 69 years of marriage, Mum, at 89, had to learn to live on her own. As much as we tried to keep Mum in her own home, by October 22, Mum needed everyday support as her dementia was quickly taking hold, as well as being so very lonely. From the moment I spoke to the general manager at Southwell (I have no words to say what an amazing, totally committed lady she is), but also that every member of staff at the home, whatever their position, has been empathetic, thoughtful and considerate not only to Mum but to us her children. It was a very tough and upsetting decision to take Mum away from her home, but every single member of the Southwell team has helped us through this difficult journey. Now, in January 2023, I do believe if Mum wasn't at Southwell, she wouldn't be with us today. Absolutely nothing is too much trouble for the staff, and Mum is treated with respect and as an individual. I absolutely recommend this home. What amazing people they all are!
It is fine in here if you are fit and well, if not you are moved upstairs where things are quite different. No photographs up here and certainly not a lot to get excited about. I visit my husband who has been moved upstairs following an illness and find it miserable and depressing. I quite enjoyed visiting when he was downstairs but have to force myself to go now. He is quite with it for 90 years of age but he has been put with poor souls that wander about and can't hold a conversation. Luckily he can tolerate it, I used to enjoy my visits but now we have to sit in his bedroom because of the constant turmoil in the lounge. I used to enjoy my visits but now dread them.
The care is exemplary. The staff are wonderful, warm and caring. The activities are extensive and inclusive. The atmosphere is lively and full of happiness. The food is amazing. My father lived here for five years before he died. My mother would go nowhere else and has now been resident for two years and is healthier than she was living on her own. She loves being there. Visitors are welcome and encouraged whenever. It is a marvellous home.
