View Full Details of Eachstep BlackleySeeing my sister go into a care home has been the worst part of my life. We visited so many homes before finding Each Step and so glad we persevered. The staff are so well trained in understanding the behaviour that comes with dementia and do their utmost to keep everyone happy with thoughtfulness, kindness and dignity. The settling in hasn't been without its difficulties but we have great confidence that each step forward will be trodden carefully and with love. Big thanks to everyone (bar none)!
I love this place my gran was here too so when mum got ill this was the only place I wanted my mum to be placed in. The staff are caring and go above and bound for the people they care for. They always make you welcome when you visit.
Excellent staff looking after my auntie. The home is always clean and tidy. The staff are very welcoming and always happy to talk. The food and drink is also excellent. I cannot speak highly enough about the staff doing a difficult job they are just brilliant.
Dad has been in Eachstep Blackley for over 5 years the support and care he receives is second to none. He has deteriorated over the last few years and despite this, all his needs are still met. As a family member, we are kept in the loop and also supported. We cannot fault the care he receives and wouldn't want our dad to be any where else. The staff are unsung heroes caring for our loved ones like they would care for there own.
My mum who has dementia, moved into Eachstep Blackley in October 2024, for some respite as we had a very difficult time looking after her at home. This was her first real stint in a care environment, and even day centres hadn't gone well up to this point, so we were so nervous. However, I shouldn't have been, as the care she has been receiving and the efforts the staff make to make her feel at home are second to none. She is happier there than she would have been at home, and I can relax knowing that she's safe, warm, well fed, and has constant good company. Whilst every aspect of this home is brilliant, the main aspect is the staff. They treat everyone like their family, with such respect and affection. They have sweet little in-jokes with my mum and really know how to put her at ease - within the first few days they had all the tools and tricks that she needs figured out, that have taken me years to master. Their dementia understanding and skills are really fantastic.
My mum entered Eachstep Blackley 5 years ago, almost to the day. I had just lost my dad quite suddenly and I'm an only child. I was heading for a nervous breakdown before my mum started being cared for by a staff member and her team on Howells. Only three months later Covid struck and I couldn't touch mum for almost a year. During that time, one staff member in particular took my place, am I eternally grateful. She kept my mum and her other residents as safe as she could, and my mum turns 88 next week, and is thriving with a continued quality of life. I cannot stress how much this staff member and the whole team at Eachstep mean to me. They are our family, and treat my mum as they would treat their own mum. I cannot praise the staff highly enough.
My mum regularly uses the services of Eachstep and we're delighted with how well she has adjusted to it. She is greeted with a smile from a very friendly carer who takes my mum's hand. My mum then walks in with hardly a glance back at us! The manager and staff are so good with her and we have total peace of mind while she is in their care. (I have put a '5' rating for food and rooms because a rating was required but I genuinely don't know about the food and my mum doesn't use a room.)
I would like to start off by saying how lovely the staff are, always going above and beyond. They excel in making the residents feel at home with customised name slips on their doors and decorating for every occasion. The home was decorated lovely this Christmas, bringing cheer throughout for residents. The staff spend time forming bonds with residents and those who visit making the atmosphere in the home friendly. The catering skills are up to a high standard, always making sure there is a hot meal for all residents.
Mum spent 3 years and 1 day at this care home being admitted in 2021 and spending around 12 months in the residential unit before transferring to the nursing area as her condition worsened before passing in November 2024. Throughout her stay she was treated with kindness, respect and above all she retained as much dignity as can be had when someone is terminally ill with dementia. Every member of the team deserves a mention for the tremendous work that they do and the way that they care and love for the residents as though they were their own family. From the carers to the nurses, the catering staff to the housekeeping and laundry, all of them are special. I hope that I do not require their services in the future but if I do I would not hesitate to recommend them, they all truly fantastic.
My wife has dementia and needs 24 hour care. I and my daughter look after her full time. However the Manchester Local Authority have allowed to use Eachstep for four hours per week care home facility. We found them immensely beneficial. The staff at Blackley are always so pleasant and helpful and the facilities offered allow us a complete break. My wife is always greeted and treated with the utmost care. We are delighted with what Eachstep provide.
Mum has been a resident since August 2017 and we're in a very privileged situation to have mum having one main carer/key worker over this time, who now feels like part of the extended family. As with this awful disease Alzheimer's, decline is inevitable but we have been supported and guided along the way. Mum's respect, safety and dignity has been their priority and that is such a comfort. Even now as it's clear the disease is taking mum into a nursing scenario we're supported all the way. Communication levels are high. Anticipation of mums needs are always there. Special visits when she was in hospital when carer was off duty - is something we can't put a price on. We shall never forget what this has meant to us - sincere thank you from all our hearts
We had a smooth transition from hospital with our friend who settled in comfortably into Thornleigh. The residence is immaculately clean throughout with no unpleasant odours typically associated with care homes. Eachstep registered him with the Local GP, Dentist and Chiropodist; we are regularly updated about his medical needs such as updates on vaccinations and with prompt handling of urgent medical situations (e.g., emergency dental appointment). Regular activities are organised within the home as well as visits to Local shops, pubs, parks, Football Museum, city centre, and football stadiums. Staff are nothing short of excellent and go above and beyond demonstrating commitment to their duties; they have provided a warm and welcoming environment for residents, family and visitors. A home from home - our friend is receiving outstanding care and we would highly recommend Eachstep to anyone in need. Thank you to all the staff!
The staff at Eachstep are amazing, I couldn't ask for better people to care for my loved one. They really go above and beyond to make him happy and to make us as a family feel re-assured. I have recommended them multiple times and will continue to do so.
Very caring staff providing individualised care tailored to the different personalities of the residents. Nothing is too much trouble and staff go above and beyond to support not only the residents, but also their families too. The households are nicely laid out and relaxed, they have a homely feel. Really lovely facilities, including nice outdoor space. It was definitely the right choice for our mum.
Mum was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia and moved into Eachstep (Blackley) just over three years ago. Initially, she was placed in the Residential Unit (Charlestown), but as her condition progressed, she moved to one of the dedicated Nursing Units (Woodlands). As a family, we quickly had to learn about the care system, but with the love and support of Admiral Nurses and the compassionate staff at Eachstep, we ensured mum received the care and attention she deserved. We always knew that when we spoke, staff listened. They took the time to explain mum's dementia journey in a way we could understand and appreciate. They encouraged us to visit anytime, 24/7, 365 days a year. Eachstep truly "looked after mum when we couldn't," allowing us precious time to focus on making her laugh and smile during our regular and spontaneous visits. The staff at Eachstep are more than caregivers; they are extended members of our family.
I could not have wished for a nicer, better care facilities for a friend of mine, who is a younger dementia sufferer. He as been on Thornlea for over 6 months. The staff are excellent and nothing is to much trouble. The care, commitment and support from staff is in my opinion outstanding. All staff treat residents with dignity and respect, and have a lovely rapport with not just residents but families and friends. Thornlea is very clean and tidy no matter when you visit. My friend is still able to lead a active life, due to staff supporting him on going out doing the things he enjoys. As a friend I have piece of mind knowing he is in a safe, clean and very friendly environment which is very much like home from home. He can also still enjoy going out with family and friends which is no trouble to staff when asking them to support getting him ready. I would not hesitate to recommend Eachsteps to any family or friend looking for care .
The staff, the service and the overall atmosphere of Eachstep Blackley is amazing, it's very comforting to know that my mother is taken such good care of, and I love the feeling of extended family that is naturally present on site, thanks to the wonderful staff.
My brother moved into Thornlea Residential care at Eachstep in May 2023. Since then he has been made to feel like family. He likes Thornlea as he has been able to keep as much of his independence as before. It was important to him to ensure that he still had the things that he had always he enjoyed in life. To him a cigarette and a cup of tea so this was perfect as they have a garden to sit in. His personal cares are attended too promptly. There is also the option to have a hairdresser and podiatrist visit as again this was part of my brothers usual routine. He has his own room and shower room which protects his privacy and dignity but he also has the opportunity to sit in the main lounge and chat with staff or friends he has met. The staff keep me well informed of his progress or any areas of concern. I worried about him constantly before he moved here but now more reassured that he is warm, safe, and happy and for this I am forever grateful to the staff .
Absolutely amazing. Staff go above and beyond to make residents feel safe and listened to. They are like a family. They always make sure the best interest of the resident is met. My mum hates baths and showers, as she nearly drowned when she was younger, so hates water on her face. But now she is happy to take a shower as the staff start at her feet and working upwards. She feels safe with them as they take there time with this task. I feel I can relax knowing she is being cared for in this way. My family and I are so happy we found this fantastic home. Thank you to all the staff for the fantastic job you do.
Our sister went into Eachstep in Sept 23 and she has settled in beyond our expectations, thanks to the excellent staff. She is in Thornlea household and we feel she is not only looked after but cared for with affection and understanding Staff are helpful with relatives and will go out of their way to deal with queries over the phone as well as in person.
