View Full Details of Firs HallMy dad enjoyed this home very much during his stay in the home the staff we welcoming and friendly and always ready to help. The manager was always available and the food was outstanding. I would strongly recommend that home!
Previously had my family member stay at Firs Hall on 2 weeks respite. This was quite daunting as it was something we have never done and did not know what to expect. Beautiful building. We were so worried if this was the best thing to be doing, And we couldn’t have picked a better place to be. The staff work extremely hard, and carers go above and beyond. Nothing was ever any trouble. Our faith in humanity has been restored. All staff are hands-on from the cleaners to the manager. There were plenty of choices for meals, and the homemade cakes were according to my family member delicious. We will definitely be going back.
I'm not sure how I'm supposed to write an honest review if I have to adhere to the restrictions above. I would not recommend this nursing home as I cannot believe how it achieved a good outcome. Thankfully my mum is now home, gaining weight, having her medication at the right time. Staff work hard, they have to as it is evident that more staff are needed. Such a shame that I can't heap praise on two staff in particular but hopefully they know who they are.
My sister is living at Firs Hall and I couldn't ask for a better place for her to live. The staff are great really friendly and welcoming. I know everyone on a first name basis and when I visit I don't feel like a visitor but I feel like part of the family. The staff are so caring and patient. I would definitely recommend Firs Hall to anyone that needed to go into a home. It's a great home.
My relative was staying at Firs Hall on respite care at first I was very unsure what to expect but my fears were soon put aside the staff are really friendly and welcoming which made it easier for myself. My relative (uncle) was treated with respect and dignity and more importantly, he really enjoyed his stay there. The management was great really put my mind at ease about the whole situation. My uncle's room was nicely decorated and was always clean in fact the whole home was clean. The food was really appetizing and I witnessed the chef going around all the residents asking what they would like for lunch .whilst I was visiting Firs Hall they had recently built their own pub in the home this was a big hit with the residents they looked like they were having fun. My overall thoughts of Firs Hall is that it felt like one big family everyone was involved with my uncle's care from management to the domestics.
I came to stay at Firs Hall in March not knowing what to expect. After 2 weeks I settled in and found staff to be helpful, polite and pleasant including the manageress who is always approachable. The home is lovely and clean and there is our own pub where we can go whenever we want. I am now fighting to stay at Firs Hall and would recommend this residential home to anyone.
This care home is one of worst I have seen. It’s dirty, old and dated, especially the room which wasn’t even adapted properly for elderly residents. Luckily Mum only had to stay one night and that was enough to traumatise her. She said after I left her, the night time staff were rude to her and left her for extremely long periods of time even though she pressed her buzzer for help getting out of a very low chair to visit the toilet, which didn’t have any handrails on. The food she received was also very poor, dry crackers with small pieces of cheese and a bowl of cold soup for tea. This is one care home that would definitely benefit from modernising and to be specially adapted for the residents' needs as in its present state, it’s not up to standard.
