View Full Details of MillfieldThe team at Millfield went above and beyond in making Mum's birthday special for her and the visiting family. Nothing was too much trouble, we could all join Mum for cake and coffee and she had a wonderful day. Over the last 12 months, we have been so happy with the care that Mum gets every day, and all the staff have become friends and it is a joy to visit such a great care home.
Having carried out my own research of prospectus homes with input from trusted friends, the one which received real reviews was Millfield. So I elected to make an unannounced visit to Millfield where I received a warm welcome and a comprehensive tour of the facility. The tour included a visit to each department and an introduction to staff along the way. Thankfully my brother was accepted, so to in very happy. I now have peace of mind knowing he is in good hands. Activities I don't know yet.
I find the staff are very hard working. The feeling is that the staff all seem to get on well with the residents and each other. I find if you ask for help then it is soon taken care of. I do tell people that I could live there, that is how high I rate the place.
Last year my aunt chose Millfield as her preferred place to live when she could no longer live independently at home. This was not an easy decision as she had been a very independent person. Since moving there, she has experienced a loving environment, the reassurance of safety, companionship and stimulating activities. On my visits, I am always warmly welcomed by the staff team. The manager promotes an ethos of family first and personally goes above and beyond to ensure family relationships are maintained. It is great to visit Aunt and spend time in her homely room, where she has an invaluable landline phone, to maintain contact with her family. She has had an amazing full life, it is wonderful to see her enjoying her later years surrounded by love. Thank you to the entire team.
Thank you, Millfield for your continued care and support for both Mum and the wider family. It was wonderful of you supporting a family meal over the festive period enabling those who live further afield to have a celebratory lunch together and make this a special moment for us all. A particular note of thanks to one staff member in particular who went to so much trouble in cooking a delicious home-cooked meal. It is really appreciated.
On arriving at Millfield, my aunt was instantly made to feel very welcome and part of the community. The staff are wonderful and go that extra mile to provide outstanding levels of care to the residents. During the Christmas period there was a very "Festive" feel to the whole home and family and friends were encouraged to join in the festivities with the highlight being the Millfield Christmas party on 14 December. The standard of catering is extremely high at Millfield both in terms of quality and variety and so it was with the running buffet provided during the party. I am reasonably local so able to visit fairly regularly. I am always made to feel very welcome. It is always a difficult process for relatives to make the transition from living in their home environment to residential care but the staff at Millfield recognise this and go out of their way to ensure that residents are happy and healthy in their new home with each resident's individual needs being recognised and addressed.
A very BIG thank you to all the lovely staff at Millfield. It was the first Christmas for my sister and it was very hard for the family, but what a lovely time she had. We had no worries at all, the staff have been wonderful, the entertainment, food and most of all care. We could not wish for a better place so thank you all at Millfield.
We are so pleased that Mum was able to get a place at Millfield. The staff are all so friendly and helpful and have gone above and beyond to help her settle in. It's such a relief to know that she's happy and well cared for. Her room is lovely, and nothing is too much trouble. There are lots of activities and things to do too, and the food is wonderful!
Since my auntie has been at Millfield, although we live a long way away, I feel able to keep in touch thanks to the kindness of the staff at the home. I regularly send emails with family photographs, which are printed off promptly by the manageress in large font so they can be read. My auntie has also been given a folder to keep her letters and photos in. The regular newsletters clearly illustrate the many ways in which staff provide a varied and stimulating programme of events to suit the wide range of people who live at Millfield, and these provide a starting point for telephone conversations. I am too far away to visit regularly but when I have been to the home, I have felt warmly welcomed and was given the opportunity to join a table for lunch, ensuring that I was able to spend more time together with my aunt. Her room is warm, clean and comfortable with staff popping in regularly to check if anything is needed. Moving to Millfield Waterhead was a good choice.
My mother-in-law has been a resident at the home for several months now and continues to really enjoy everything about it. We are always pleased with the carers' attention to detail and as the festive season has progressed, this has been even more evident from them and all of the staff. Entertainment, fun from within the home and also provided by visiting schools and entertainers have been brilliant. The meals and standard of catering are always first class and the staff have excelled when providing festive party food. Well done to everyone at Millfield!
At the beginning of December, my mum celebrated her 102nd birthday at Millfield, which has been her home for the past two years, and with the help of the lovely staff, I was able to organise a special concert for her and the other residents. Everyone was singing along to old familiar songs and Mum was especially thrilled to hear all her favourites. We toasted Mum's health with a glass of Prosecco and the staff brought in a beautiful birthday cake whilst we all sang Happy Birthday. Mum has made good friends at Millfield and feels very content. She is constantly singing the praises of all the staff who are caring and compassionate. I am so glad that we found this lovely residential home at just the right time.
Mum went into Millfield in January 2024 for interim care following discharge from hospital after an accident. She stayed until the end of October, following which she returned home. As a family, we were very happy with the level of care Mum received whilst in Millfield. The staff are lovely and very caring. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
My mum's time at Millfield was sadly all too short. However, she loved every minute of her 10 months. From day one the staff showed her so much love and respect. Their personal approach and attention to detail made her feel safe, valued and cared for. The wide variety of activities kept her engaged all week and it was lovely to see her grow in confidence and easily make friends. Millfield became her home and family was always made welcome. I was always able to get answers to any questions I had. Outside health staff were an integral part of her care and this was willingly facilitated by staff. The meals were varied and beautifully prepared by the staff who were happy to spend time chatting to Mum. My mum was made to feel like someone who really mattered to them. In turn, I felt happy that she was safe and more importantly happy. Millfield was a brilliant choice for her.
Mum only had from November 2023 to August 2024 in Millfield a short time in which she was made to feel so welcome by the lovely staff and residents. She was clearly valued and enjoyed activities, company and delicious food. So much to join in with she reinvented herself. She felt safe and secure, it became her home. The staff at Millfield showed so much love and compassion for our Mum in the last few weeks of her life. As her family, we were taken care of as well. So many generous, thoughtful members of staff in all the departments. Thank you so much.
My aunty came to live at Millfield 3 years ago. I knew from the first day I made the right choice. All the staff are friendly, approachable, and very friendly nothing is too much trouble. The food is lovely and the cook was amazing even catering for my very fussy aunty. As my aunty's life was coming to the end her wishes were to stay at Millfield and to be cared for by the staff. All staff went above and beyond even sitting with her while I couldn't be there. I know how busy the staff are and I will be forever grateful for this. I would definitely recommend Millfield for your loved one. You will not be disappointed.
Having visited many settings when choosing residential care, Millfield shone through. From our initial visit through to Dad's last days, the care, understanding and compassion of all staff has been exemplary. Millfield was most definitely home first and foremost. Dad was quick to settle with the support of the Millfield family. The residents and staff became his friends. He enjoyed the activities with staff going above and beyond to ensure he was happy and engaged. As Dad reached the end of his time at Millfield, the staff were proactive in supporting Dad and his family. It was very important for us that Dad was able to be cared for at Millfield with the team going above and beyond to bring in nurses and GP to support him. Would recommend it highly.
I have always commented when visiting our friend in Millfield on what a happy and caring place it is for him to be living. The staff are very caring and friendly. His room and his bathroom are very clean. He is very pleased with the meals and I have seen how spotless the kitchens are.
My cousin is happy in general. Access to see her is easily available. The staff are helpful and courteous. The rooms are clean and tidy.
I think that the internal magazine is terrific, but this month was a bumper edition. I love it when there are plenty of photos of the residents socialising and enjoying themselves. It gives me pleasure - and peace of mind - to know that my mum is joining in the varied activities and that she is enjoying socialising with other residents and staff. I can view it online, and I am grateful to be informed, but the best bit is reading the magazine with my mum in her room: together we can look at the photos, laugh and chat about the activities she has enjoyed. It is clear that she finds them stimulating and that while she enjoys 'alone time' reading in her room, she also benefits from the company of others. I would particularly like to thank one lady for her ingenuity and her hard work. I think she does a splendid job, and my mum speaks very highly of her, too.
My mum moved into Millfield after a difficult few months in hospital and obviously as a family we were worried as this was all new to us and Mum. The staff made us feel extremely welcome and talked through all aspects of the care they offer and put our minds at rest that mum was in the best hands. The home is lovely and well kept and all the staff we have met are all amazing caring people. We are so glad she has found a place she feels happy and safe in. I genuinely believe the care of the residents is paramount to the staff at Millfield and it shows. I do not believe we could have made a better choice.
