From first walking into Stoneswood to make enquiries I was made to feel so welcome, I know after the visit this is the best place I wanted my uncle to come and I've not been disappointed. The level of care has been outstanding. All the staff are absolutely amazing. It just feels like one big happy family. I really enjoy my visits and my uncle loves it and has settled really well.
The staff are very helpful. My partner needs lots of help, he has deteriorating motor skills and they accommodate his needs very well. He suffers from Lewy bodies dementia and gets very confused but the staff are kind, helpful and pleasant. They understand his needs and look after him very well. I completed an Social Services review with him recently and his responses showed he is happy with the standard of care. He is well fed and enjoys the food. It has taken a long time (he is not really a mixer) but he seems to have made a friend.
It's a very welcoming home from when you arrive at reception. The home and gardens are well looked after, clean and welcoming. My aunt is well cared for in every respect. She is treated with respect, and dignity at all times by all the staff, they are kind and caring at all times. She is allowed to wander around the home all day if she wishes never being told or pressured to sit down. She is now eating much better than she was at home and is happy in her own world. The food is good with plenty of choice for the residents and they are given this choice which is very important. There are snacks available at all times in the dining room for the residents to access all day. As she wanders so much I was happy to see a pressure mat at the side of her bed that will alert staff if she gets out of bed or falls in the night. The staff have always been polite and respectful whilst caring for the residents and use the appropriate equipment when necessary.
Generally care is good and residents are encouraged to join in social activities, but, my mother-in-law rarely takes part in these organised activities even when we are present. She subsequently does not have anything to fill her time as she is reliant on one to one communication, mainly from family. I would like more advice from staff. I feel she may need a keyworker, but am not sure whether she merits one as she is presently quiet mobile and independent.
We looked at several care homes before moving my mum in, Stoneswood was by far the best. Since she moved in, the care my mum has had has been amazing. The staff are lovely, and they not only look after the residents but also give great support to the residents' families. There is a welcoming atmosphere and my mum has told me many times that she likes it. The setting is beautiful and there are organised activities. My mum really loves getting her hair done every week in the salon and she loves being able to have a bubble bath. It’s never an easy thing to move a parent into a care home, but the staff have guided us through the transition and made things as smooth as possible. I would recommend Stoneswood, and I’m grateful to all the staff.
Mum has been resident at Stoneswood since May 2022. Although she and I were anxious about her move to Stoneswood, the staff really helped to make the move smooth. Mum has never had many hobbies, walking being her main one, but she is encouraged to join in with the many activities that have been taking place over the last few months. Mum particularly enjoys the outings both locally and farther afield. The staff are very welcoming and caring with all residents. They have looked after Mum and encouraged her to maintain some independence. Stoneswood is in beautiful grounds that are well maintained and easily accessible for Mum to walk with relatives. The use of the lodge as a coffee stop whilst out walking is perfect. I really enjoy my visits with Mum as she is happy and content. I feel we have quality time together without any worry.
Although Mum isn’t over happy to be here, I see that she is well cared for and safe and every attempt is made to make her happy. Her condition can make her short-tempered at times, but this seems to be handled well by the staff.
Mum is very settled and happy here. She enjoys the food, and her room is always clean and tidy. Sometimes, I feel she is left in front of the telly in the lounges on her own more than I would like, but I/she would never complain. Sometimes, it feels like they are short of senior carers, and there seems to be a lot of staff turnover, so it’s difficult to get to know who does what. But most of the regular careers are lovely and very friendly. I am really hoping the new manager stays and is a success.
My mum has been a resident of Stoneswood since July 2021. It was a major decision on my behalf to accept that Mum was going to need full time care due to her increasing dementia. When Autograph took over the running of the home, I was unsure of how things might change in the light of how my mum’s needs would be managed. However, it has been lovely to see how my mum has been encouraged to take part in the many activities which the Stoneswood staff have planned. This month I accompanied Mum on an evening coach trip to Blackpool. Everything ran so well due to the time and effort put in by the staff. I never thought I’d see Mum sitting in a café eating fish and chips before being driven through the illuminations! I am fortunate that I have total trust in the staff and how they care for Mum. Nothing is too much trouble for them when I call in to see her or when I ring daily to ask how she has been presenting. I am happy and confident that Stoneswood are able to continue caring for Mum.
My mum settled in here very quickly, and is far happier than she was at home. The staff are very friendly and caring, with plenty of activities to keep my mum occupied. The home is always clean and tidy with a really happy atmosphere. It was easy to get her room set up to be familiar to her, making the move in easy and low stress. We are even allowed to bring her favourite four legged friends to visit! I would recommend Stoneswood to anyone needing care for an elderly relative. We wish we’d moved her in earlier.
30th November - Mum very poorly today and we stayed all day. The staff were amazing - especially four staff members in particular - so caring and empathic. We must also mention two other staff members who are equally professional, they are all a credit to the team at Stoneswood. Another staff member manages the kitchen with skill and is attentive to the dietary needs of the residents, talking to residents daily to be able to tailor their needs.
Found the staff very friendly and supportive. Lovely surroundings and views. Overall happy with the care provided for my father-in-law who has been a resident since May 2023. The lodge is a lovely place to go for a coffee in the grounds.
Friendly, helpful and professional. My mother seems very comfortable and happy with the care and service provided. All the staff are extremely helpful and efficient. My mother's vegetarian options are catered for as with all other needs.
Staff are always very helpful and supportive. Nothing ever seems to be too much trouble, and all staff go above and beyond. The cleanliness of the home is outstanding. Really nice feel from the minute you arrive in reception and always met with a smile.
My wife was stricken down with dementia at an early age, and we had to watch her rapid decline to the point that we knew we had to make provision for her future care. This was an extremely difficult decision to reach compounded by our search for a care home that felt right. We saw many in the area, one stood out above the rest from our first visit. Stoneswood felt so welcoming and in a different league than the others we visited. That was some four years ago. Since then, we have been proved right with our decision. Stoneswood and its staff have become a second family to my wife and our family. The building, rooms and public areas are excellent. It is the staff that makes Stoneswood special. They have treated her with dignity and kindness, always going the extra mile. Management takes an active hands-on approach leading from the front. During the difficult times of Covid, we felt reassured our loved one was safe and cared for. I cannot recommend Stoneswood highly enough.
My wife’s grandma is a resident in Stoneswood, and I have been nothing but impressed with the quality of care she has received. She turned 94 in February, and the staff went above and beyond to allow us to celebrate. We were able to visit in the lodge and bring a birthday cake and spend some quality time within a Covid safe environment that the staff had put in place to ensure no other residents were at risk. After so long not being able to do this, it made all the difference in the world to my wife and her family.
I have both my parents living at Stoneswood, and this month, it was both their birthdays, 97! The team at Stoneswood always make a big effort for birthdays, and during our visit, they brought in a beautiful cake with candles, and we all sang happy birthday; all these touches help to make it seem like we are all part of one big family.
My mum and dad both entered Stoneswood in September 2020. Due to Covid restrictions, we were unable to view inside the home and initially only see our parents through the window; it was heartbreaking all-round. The staff were wonderful and went above and beyond to help our parents settle and reassure us that they were ok. The visiting pod was a step forward, and then the nicer weather allowed visits to the lovely grounds. Currently, there is a very comfortable and spacious visiting room which is a real asset. The staff are really accommodating, helping us organise small family celebrations for special occasions (all under Covid guidelines of course). As I have never been to the home, I cannot comment on the accommodation and other facilities. However, there is a warm, friendly atmosphere, and my sister and I, along with our parents, feel very much part of the Stoneswood family.
My mother has now been in Stoneswood for 12 months. It was to be expected that the first few weeks were difficult for my mother as she was settling into a completely new environment. My initial communication with the manager through to my mother being admitted to Stoneswood was exemplary. Since her admission, her care has been first class. She has improved immeasurably since her stay in hospital prior to admission. Stoneswood provides a first-class, five-star caring environment.
My mother has been a resident at Stoneswood for over five years. Stoneswood is an excellent care home, with strong management and dedicated staff, they are welcoming, friendly and strive to provide the best care and facilities for Mum. The past year has been challenging to say the least with the pandemic but Mum has been extremely well cared for and kept safe as the well-being of the residents is always top priority; when we were allowed to visit we saw Mum happy as usual with her hair done and nails painted. We are always updated with a newsletter detailing activities and photos and of course, this was invaluable during a lockdown. It is clear from the furnishings and decor the owners are passionate about creating a homely and friendly environment. All in all, Stoneswood is a clean and caring home that we would have no hesitation in recommending.
