View Full Details of Fieldhouse Care HomeOur mother is currently in Fieldhouse care home and we cannot speak highly enough regarding the care she receives. Every member of staff go out of their way to assist both my mother and ourselves with whatever needs addressing.
Really happy with the care my mum has had since being in here. Great choice of meals, really content with my mum being in Fieldhouse care home. She settled quickly with the reassurance of the staff, they took the time to make her feel settled.
My mum has been in Fieldhouse for nearly 6 years and over that time we have faced the many challenges that deteriorating dementia brings together. At the beginning of last year, Fieldhouse appointed a new manager who has in my opinion made massive improvements throughout. The staff are friendly and approachable and they genuinely seem to care for my mums happiness and wellbeing.
My mother in law has settled into Field House really well. The staff are very caring and always available to speak to. They make all visits and visitors really welcome.
Always a warm welcome on arrival and questions or overview dealt with promptly. Staff seem happy! Would recommend.
Dad has advanced double dementia, he has been in Fieldhouse Care Home just over six weeks. I never considered any other home, I did my homework, obviously but Fieldhouse was close by and dad wouldn't have to change doctors (2 major considerations for me). It's taken time for myself, family and dad to get used to the massive change. But I am happy with the home. His room is basic, however it's just to sleep in. He is always clean and dressed in his own freshly washed clothes. The atmosphere in the home is good. Staff are very attentive and like a laugh (which is another one of the reasons I picked Fieldhouse). The entertainment coordinator is excellent who provides so much variety for the residents. Food is cooked onsite and is varied and excellent, with a choice of two meals per sitting. Plenty of staff who are well up on every person in there. As far as I'm concerned, all residents are comfortable and well looked after which is what I want for my dad. Visiting is relaxed, you are free to equip their rooms however you please. All members of staff work together work together as a team.
My experience on visiting mum is always pleasant from the staff and I appreciate the work they do.
Dad was admitted to Fieldhouse after spending 5 weeks in hospital for treatment for a broken hip, 2 days after admission to the home he was taken back into hospital with breathing problems which resulted in him being put on end-of-life care. He was moved back to Fieldhouse to allow dignity during this time. The care and compassion he was shown were amazing. He was 93 and 7 days after being put on end-of-life care he passed away. The care, dignity and respect he received from the staff in the home was second to none, our family were treated with compassion and the staff could not do enough to help us during this difficult time, even though they hadn't had the pleasure of getting to know dad prior to his admission to the home. As a family, we cannot thank the staff enough for helping dad and ourselves through a difficult time. After five horrendous weeks in hospital we are relieved his last 7 days were spent surrounded by care and compassion.
My mother has been at this home since October 2022. She suffers from dementia. Mum is really happy here and the staff go above and beyond to support and care for her. It is obvious they all care deeply for her and her them. A new Manager took over 3 months ago and she is amazing, she is also supported by a dedicated Deputy. Massive changes have been made to make things better at this home. I did sometimes find the home smelt however no longer. Communication is key and I am always notified immediately if they have any concerns with mum. hanks to everyone involved in looking after her.
A great care home. The staff are all very approachable and attentive. The rooms are a little tired, but they are due to replace the carpets throughout soon enough. I think a wider variety of activities may be better, but the overall atmosphere is a positive one.
My father has lived at Fieldhouse Care Home for three years. In that time, I have come to know carers, staff and management who are always professional, compassionate, helpful and approachable. I take part, with my father, in activities and I am in the process of helping with the summer fair, raising funds to benefit residents. I would like to have given activities excellent however the home no longer has the use of a minibus and much-needed days out can no longer take place, a much-needed connection to the outside world for many. The home is clean however tired decor lets it down, falling paint, old carpets in his room and communal areas, along with some fixtures and fittings.
The 'care team' are all friendly, helpful and thoughtful. They are also very attentive to the residents, I've been there and they all go around chatting to the residents - they are kind and if someone seems/is a little unsure, tricky or struggling that day - they are kind and reassuring. There are quite a few activities and, for the residents who can join in, they are great.
Mum is aged 90 and has vascular dementia. My father is 94 and after a few weeks in hospital we were lucky enough to get both into the same care home. This is all a new experience for the family as well as mum and dad but the staff have been very good with them. They both have very different needs but very quickly settled into a routine with staff being attentive, notwithstanding their own very demanding natures. We have been helped with moving doctor's practices and advised of any issues my parents have had. It is not an easy job, I would suspect, working in a care home, particularly with a number of dementia service users but the staff all seem very friendly towards the residents and visitors. The home is clean but can smell slightly on occasion but that is endemic of the type of facility. Food looks okay and meets the needs of the service users. The rooms are fine too. Every time I take Mum to her room she is "seeing" it for the first time and says - "this is nice".
Very warm, friendly and happy atmosphere in the care home. The staff are all very hands on and available at all times. My dad is as content as he can be in a care home and hardly ever complains. The manager is also always there to offer support and answer any questions, concerns and care needs. We have never met new owners to see them show interest in the home.
My mum has been in Fieldhouse Care Home for almost four years now, I feel confident that I can visit at any time and find that she is well looked after and in a safe environment. The staff are friendly and my mum has her favourites! She likes to tell me who she thinks is wonderful. She enjoys having her hair done by the hairdresser and is always keen to show me her nails whenever she has a new colour put on them. The staff always decorates the home for whatever the time of year, Easter, Christmas, Halloween, Jubilee, etc, lots of the items on display are made by the residents, which helps to keep them busy during the day. It is nice to see that my mum has made new friends while being here, seeing her talking to other residents and joining in activities. She is a little reserved and a quiet person, so I am happy to see her enjoying herself.
Some staff are very welcoming when they let you in or when they see you walking around, sharing their good knowledge of your relative, where she is etc. This is also true when speaking to them on the phone. I have noticed however a less experienced member of the care team sitting in the dining room using their personal phone when I would have preferred to see them interacting with the residents. I would also like there to be outings in the minibus.
My husband appears to be quite settled here, his room is comfortable, warm and airy. He finds his bed comfortable and cosy. He enjoys his food, although I've never seen it, but I believe he always eats up! The staff are helpful and friendly, and the lounge is spacious and comfortable. I find the building pleasant and the surroundings very pleasent. All in all, the next best thing to home.
As my mum is a self-funder, I know she would expect a better range of facilities/amenities for the cost she has to pay (£3671 per month). I find the majority of the staff to be friendly, caring and professional. If I have brought up an issue or a request, it's always accommodated as soon as possible. A little updating of premises wouldn't go amiss. The caring attitude of hands-on staff compensates for this.
I was prior to coming here in a flat and everything there was excellent, but then I began to fall in the flat. One of the falls was almost fatal. Following a stay in hospital to recuperate my family strongly recommended that I try a care home environment to see if it was more suitable to my requirements. The falls have decreased to almost zero, and diet and care are exemplary. Grateful thanks from my family and myself to every member of staff in Fieldhouse for their firm, fair treatment and for helping me to regain some aspect of independence. Genuine thanks to all.
A nice warm atmosphere. The staff keep an eye out to ensure no secret parties!
