View Full Details of Alderwood Care HomeMy Mum has recently moved into Alderwood. She has mental & physical health needs. She's been struggling living by herself for over a year and arrived at Alderwood in a bad way. In just a short space of time and being properly looked after we are amazed how well she now seems. She's genuinely happy & settled. My Mum has clicked well with the staff and feels at ease with them. She trusts them and allows them to look after her. It's a casual atmosphere around the place which is great. The staff are all extremely friendly & helpful. Everyone is on the ball and communication is spot on. It's just what my Mum was needing. She's enjoying the environment, the staff, the food and having her hair done. We were worried about Mum going into a care home and the implications. Turns out Mum has embraced it as a positive move, enjoying the perks and treats it like an all inclusive holiday. Many thanks to Alderwood and staff. We are thankful.
Nothing is ever too much trouble. The way the staff are with the residents is heartwarming. They are treated like family members and go above and beyond to ensure all the residents and families feel safe and confident entrusting our loved ones into their care.
My first experience of Alderwood Care Home was a visit to my mother's home to assess her suitability to go into care at the home. It was carried out by the manager and a member of staff, who were very professional explaining the facilities and answering all our queries. Even at this stage, my mother was made to feel that Alderwood would be a happy and settled environment. Now, seven months later I can honestly say that the whole experience of such a life-changing step has changed my mother's outlook on life and has enhanced her confidence with both the staff and other residents. The home is always clean and the staff are always welcoming with a chat and a smile. All her health needs are met, both physically and mentally. I would definitely recommend Alderwood Care Home to anyone.
An amazing facility, the staff are fantastic with my Dad, he's happy, very well looked after and feels safe. I am delighted with the care he receives as a dementia patient he has received the best care possible to meet his individual needs. Thank you so much.
Alderwood Care Home has been a fantastic choice for my mother's care. The staff create such a friendly and supportive environment, always ensuring residents feel valued and comfortable. They've built a real sense of community, and it's clear they genuinely care about the well-being of everyone there. The home is always clean, well-organized, and welcoming, with plenty of activities to keep residents engaged. I'm so grateful for the peace of mind Alderwood provides, knowing my mother is safe, happy and well cared for.
Alderwood Residential Care Home has provided exceptional care and comfort for my mother, who is 100 years old this month. The staff are incredibly attentive, compassionate and treat residents with genuine respect and dignity. They go above and beyond to ensure a warm, welcoming atmosphere that truly feels like home. The facilities are always clean and well-maintained and the activities provided are thoughtfully planned to engage and uplift the residents. I have full peace of mind knowing my mother is in such capable and caring hands. The team at Alderwood takes the time to communicate effectively with family members, keeping us informed and involved in her care. Their kindness and professionalism make a world of difference. I am deeply grateful for the love and dedication they show my mother every day and I would wholeheartedly recommend Alderwood Residential Care Home to anyone seeking quality care for a loved one.
My mum moved into Alderwood in November 2023. Since then, Mum has received the utmost care, respect and dignity from all members of staff. The care home is lovely and clean and homely. All staff are very supportive to the residents and their families. It offers a home from home environment which is essential for the residents sense of belonging and for them to be settled. The residents are very well cared for by all the staff in every way by the friendly staff.
I am unable to single any particular member of the team for above and beyond treatment of my dad and observing them with the other residents and how they genuinely care. They also have a very pleasant approach to visitors and get to know the family dynamic, you are made to feel welcomed into their home.
My dad was admitted to Alderwood Care Home in March 2023 from hospital after becoming acutely unwell and this exacerbated his pre-existing dementia. He was unable to live at home with my mum as he was unable to maintain a safe environment and needed help with all activities of daily living. From the first moment we looked around the care home, there was a warm, calm, welcoming and homely feel. Dad moving into a care home was a huge shock and upset for our family and very distressing for my mum. The staff at the care home have been wonderful in ensuring our family feel welcome and supported during this transition. Nothing has ever been too much trouble. All staff at the care home have taken the time to get to know Dad, his likes/dislikes, routines and are always kind, gentle, thoughtful, compassionate and respectful. My family and I feel complete confidence that Dad is safe and receiving the best care. We are so thankful to all the staff at Alderwood for everything they do.
Mum went into Alderwood for respite when Dad was in hospital and remained there as a result of his ongoing ill health and her own problems with dementia. She was very happy there and the care the girls gave her was first-class. The Manager was supportive of both her, my dad and me during a very difficult time and as the end came, couldn't have been more respectful. I would recommend Alderwood to anyone facing the difficult decision for their own family members.
Alderwood Care Home has been brilliant with my auntie who is 93. The staff are always friendly and very accommodating. If there has been a problem, management has dealt with it fast and efficiently. My auntie loves living here there’s always something going on for the residents to do like arts and crafts, trips out and singers.
My dad first went to Alderwood in November 2022 for respite care whilst my mum had been admitted to hospital. However, as my mum struggled with her own health my sister and I had to make a very difficult decision to ask if my dad could become a full-time resident. The manager was absolutely amazing to help us make this decision. She has a fabulous team of carers who provide the best possible care for my dad to make everyday the best he could possibly hope living apart from my mum. My sister and I really can't thank everyone at Alderwood enough for the hard work, help, support and most important the laughter they bring to my dad every single day. Thank you so much and keep up the great work, we really do appreciate it!
Deciding to move Dad into Alderwood was one of the hardest we have had to make. At the same time, Mum was critically ill in hospital. We were reassured by the manager and her caring and professional team that they would take good care of Dad, allowing us to focus on Mum. As time passed, Dad settled in very well and is so happy with the care he is receiving. Recently we celebrated my Mum and Dad's 88th birthday and their 66th wedding anniversary. Alderwood were absolutely amazing, arranging birthday teas for them in the Teapot Room, decorating it with balloons, bunting and flowers. Alderwood staff have gone over and above to make these family events so very special, giving the family wonderful memories. It's not just the special occasions, on every visit to see Dad, we are met with caring, happy and professional staff. Now we can truly relax, safe in the knowledge that Alderwood are taking excellent care of Dad. And he is thriving too, which is priceless. Amazing Alderwood staff.
When the time finally came for us to place Mum into care it was very difficult and emotional. The staff at Alderwood Care Home made it that bit easier. They were very supportive and caring. Over the last twelve months, we have had some ups and downs with Mum's health but through it, all the staff have been there not only looking after Mum but us as well, going that extra mile. I can’t begin to imagine how difficult it can be for them but they keep smiling and providing a great level of care to all residents. Although Mum doesn’t really get involved in the activities from what I see, the other residents really enjoy the crafts, music, days out and games that are available throughout the week. All of the staff take time out to chat to all the residents making them feel safe and secure in what must be a very frightening time in their lives. Thank you.
When choosing a home for your elderly parents is the most worrying time of your life, am I doing the right thing or the wrong thing and you do start to question yourself, even felt I had failed my dad and it is only now that I see I was only failing to keep him at home with me! My dad is so happy here and the staff are amazing and always willing to go that extra mile. The home itself is immaculately clean and my dad says the food is amazing, he even goes out on days out to watch shows or even the zoo. As a family, we have never looked back and if my dad could now come home, I don’t think he would. First-class care, cleanliness and friendliness, thank you to Alderwood and your amazing team.
My mother was cared for, for 7 years in Alderwood and I cannot fault the care she received. She was cared for with compassion and dignity to the day she passed away on 6th January 2022, by every member of staff working there. Not just the care staff but everyone there.
Excellent caring staff including caring and committed activities organiser. Skilled and efficient management team involving relations and organising meetings for residents' relatives. Lovely bedrooms with lots of space. Well organised visits and good communications.
To place a much loved Mum into residential care is a huge responsibility and tremendously difficult. Despite this, the staff at Alderwood have given Mum a significant amount of support over the past year to settle into a new environment and regularly go above and beyond their duties to provide a kind, caring and stimulating environment. To manage residents who have a significant degree of Dementia requires patience and a person-centred approach, all of which we have found at Alderwood. The activities on offer are varied and bring much joy to many residents. Staff working in all areas of the home, work towards making this a pleasant and welcoming environment. As an individual registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, I value and much appreciate the care and support provided at Alderwood.
I was very nervous about having my dad placed into respite but due to certain circumstances, my dad needed somewhere to stay short-term. You hear horror stories about care homes and I can honestly say as soon as he arrived I felt in my heart that he was in safe hands, my dad is not easily pleased by far and he can't wait for his next stay to say the least. He was a 'pampered pooch' when I came to pick him up. Throughout his stay, I received regular updates from staff and I know for sure me and my dad will have plenty of support from this service anytime and we will look forward to seeing them again soon.
The word care in care-home describes this place to a tee. My mother has been a resident for several years now and I can't recommend this place enough (I would move in myself if I could), the carers do what it says on the tin, they care. Every time I visit I'm greeted by warm smiles from both the care staff and also the residents. The residents welcoming smiles show that they are happy and that's a priceless recommendation in its self. I have witnessed residents being upset for whatever reason, but there is always a care worker on hand to give that reassuring cuddle when needed. The activities that are on offer put my own social life to shame with regular trips and activities always on the table. The food is both tasty and nutritious, and having just shared the Christmas dinner with them can confirm it's as good, if not better than some restaurants I have eaten at. My mother is 100 years young Christmas Eve and the effort put in to make the day special is above what I expected.
