View Full Details of Brabyns HouseI continue to be impressed with the care and support the staff bring to the residents. It is such a homely and happy place. My mum has been there for six years now and I am still of the opinion it is one of the best care homes in the area. Its success lies with the amazing staff who are dedicated and professional and manage the care and support of their residents with respect and compassion.
Mother received care here for a period from October 2022 to March 2024. The care received from all the staff was so friendly and personal, simply exceptional, and knowing that my mother was being so well looked after was so important to me. Can't thank them enough.
Mum has spent the last seven years in Brabyns where she has been cared for by amazing people. The care has been second to non by such a wonderful team. I can't thank them enough for making her final years so comfortable and memorable.
My mother has been at Brabyns Care Home for eighteen months now. The care has been wonderful. The staff really look after all her needs, now she has dementia. The home is welcoming, clean and friendly. When I visit (three times a week), it always feels like home and I always look forward to going. My mother is comfy and happy here. Keep up the great work Brabyns.
My mum was admitted to Brabyns House, just before the covid 2020 lockdown. Straight away, I felt relieved for her to be in such a caring home. Nothing was or is too much trouble to all staff. All the staff are friendly and loving to my mother. They are patient and have got to know her very well, treating her with dignity. The home is extremely well led by the manager and another member of staff. They seek to improve the house for the residents. The strengths of Brabyns House room layouts, can all be a weakness. However, the residents love the homeliness of Brabyns House. I love the way the staff embrace birthdays and special events (e.g jubilee, Christmas), with house decorations.
My sister has been a resident since May 2021. On our first visit, we were impressed by the house and all the facilities. Over the year we have seen just how much care is given to the residents and their welfare. All their needs are looked after. The staff are welcoming. All meals are prepared on the premises and there is a good variety. My sister is well looked after and we are now, free from worry.
Both my parents have been resident at Brabyns House now for nearly four years and I cannot thank the staff enough for the care and attention they have shown them. Brabyns has a very homely atmosphere and the staff go above and beyond to ensure the residents are comfortable. The food is all cooked in-house, and the menu is varied, delicious and served in the lovely dining room overlooking the garden - my parents really appreciate good food and Mum still thinks she's on holiday in a hotel! The staff lay on regular entertainment and activities for the residents from crafts, baking, keep fit, dancing and sing-a-longs. I love that they have a Facebook page and regularly update with videos so we can see what the residents have been doing. During the difficult restrictions of covid the staff have done their best to enable visiting, from garden visits in the summer to visits in a specially designed 'pod' inside until we were able to resume normal visiting. The house is now beautifully decorated for Christmas.
Avoid this place especially if your loved one has dementia/Alzheimers. Aunt sustained two falls within the space of a week. Not allowed to spend time in her room and was made to sit in a chair all day in one of the lounges which resulted in her legs/ankles becoming very swollen. The care staff informed me they did not have enough staff to keep running up and downstairs to check on residents and preferred them all to be in one place. There was no interaction between the care staff and residents and this was also witnessed by my Aunt's social care worker. I would not recommend.
My Mother lived in Brabyns House for ten years. I well remember that, when I left her in their care on day one, I assumed that her life was all but over. Little did I (or my Mum) know that it was in fact, about to enter a whole new chapter. She was not only looked after, she was truly cared for by the whole team, with affection and good humour that was marvellous to see. With sparklingly clean public and private rooms, great food, a packed itinerary or activities and lots of opportunities to have fun, she really did enjoy life there. Another lovely aspect of life at Brabyns (which we did not expect) was that her family and friends were actively encouraged to visit and otherwise maintain contact. When the time came, the end of life care was given in a very competent yet sensitive manner. This may sound like a review written by someone with a vested interest in the future of the care home, but it is a true reflection of my personal experience. I cannot recommend this REAL HOME enough.
My mum moved to live at Brabyns House in September 2019. I had researched a number of care providers and am so pleased my instincts were right. All staff are very kind and caring, I have always felt truly welcome and been able to work closely with staff being fully involved in my mum's care; never more so than during the pandemic. Brabyns is a home and community where my mothers physical, emotional, safety and health needs are very well met. Prior to September 2019, I had looked after mum myself for 4 years with support from carers; however, ultimately this was not meeting all her needs and in my search for an alternative I am so grateful I found Brabyns House.
Overall a first-rate care home, with a homely feel, good atmosphere, very good quality catering and exceptional staff who are genuinely caring and have an excellent attitude and approach. Staff are friendly, helpful, professional and competent. They respond promptly to queries and requests. Being converted dwellings, the rooms and layout don't have an institutional feel. The home is set in pleasant suburban surroundings, beside a canal and round the corner from a park, near the centre of Marple. The back garden is secluded and a nice place to spend time. We were allowed generous time to meet the manager and tour the home before deciding on placement. Activities are rated satisfactory as mother moved to Brabyns House two weeks before the first Covid-19 lockdown. Restrictions have limited activities since then. Staff and management have dealt very well with the various requirements and demands of Covid-19. Mother is in very good hands.
From day one my mother has been looked after with superlative care and attention at Brabyns House. She is happy there, comfortable, clean and well-fed. Knowing that she is in such good hands is incredibly reassuring. The staff are all wonderful, and the home is managed with great professionalism.
Mum is so happy at Brabyns and it is so reassuring to know that she's safe and well cared for. The staff are very attentive and regularly update Facebook so I can see what she's been up to. They do loads of activities and I'm just so glad she's in such a great care home especially during the current crisis. The meals always look delicious and the homemade cakes look amazing. The home itself has a very homely feel about it with plenty of lounges, not just regimented seats around the outside of a large room. I think the whole team from the cleaning staff, the kitchen staff, the carers and the management are extraordinary and very dedicated. I cant recommend Brabyns highly enough.
If it hadn’t been for Brabyns House offering regular daycare, I wouldn’t have been able to take care of mum in my home for the last three years. It’s home from home and mum always comes back happy and content at the end of the day. The staff treat the residents with kindness and respect and nothing is too much effort. If one day my mum needs to move in full time I’ll know she’ll receive the best of care.
Our mum has been at Brabyns house for 9-10 years and it's always been like a home from home. She has everything she needs to keep her healthy and happy. The staff go over and above the call of duty to make sure this happens. The families are involved in everything that happens.
