My husband has been in the home for over a year now. He is well fed and looked after. He is in a safe and secure environment. The staff are brilliant and very caring. The kitchen staff turn out amazing food. We are very happy to have chosen Fir Trees for is care requirement.
Lovely feeling in the home, made to feel welcome. Nothing is too much trouble. Mum has settled well which I didn't think she would after living at home. Food is nice, all home cooked and mum has gained some weight.
Mum has settled in really well. The staff are pleasant and attentive.
Cannot fault Fir Trees Care Home, the service provided to my grandad has been amazing, he is so happy there. The staff have been brilliant with not only my grandad but every resident, it’s so lovely to experience! They make sure everyone is involved when they have activities on, especially yesterday the Elvis tribute he got everyone moving, was a really good afternoon for everyone. Lastly, the manager has been amazing throughout grandads transition from home to a care home, nothing has been too much trouble and she has made sure grandads wishes have been fulfilled.
I was gutted when gran had to go into care, we tried so hard as a family to keep her home but she was unsafe wandering at night. We looked around homes and decided on Fir Trees. We liked Fir Trees because the staff were friendly and we saw the elderly people laughing with staff and looking happy. It’s not the poshest of places but Gran is so happy. We question now why we didn’t do it sooner because she is eating better, looks better and less anxious because she knows people are there to help her. Seniors are great when we ask how she is. They have dealt with everything for us including ordering all her medication and taking over things that we used to do. Really takes the pressure off and we can do nice things with Gran now. Gran is also happy to go back after being out which says a lot to us. Couldn’t recommend it more.
Having visited a friend who has been staying at Fir Trees for some respite, and being unfamiliar with care homes. I have been impressed by the care and support my friend has received during his stay. Also, the welcoming staff are always available for a chat and reassurance both for my friend and myself on my visits. Well done Fir Trees.
I visited on a garden party day and it was lovely. All the workers were amazing and kind. The house and residents were very happy and organized. I felt very welcome and my mother enjoyed herself a lot.
My mum has been a resident for six years the management always listens to any concerns we have and action them. The carers are kind and respectful to the residents and families. The domestic staff and cleaners always make sure mum has lovely clean clothes to wear, clean bedding and keep the room tidy. The receptionist always has a welcoming smile for you. Thank you all.
I am pleased to say that each and every time I visit Fir Trees, the staff are very pleasant and are constantly engaging with all the residents. They offer an abundance of reassurance by speaking to them with respect and holding their hands should they need a little TLC. The staff are always keen to give me an update on my dad when I phone. Well done to the manager and all the staff at Fir Trees for making my dad feel comfortable, safe and a valued resident.
I moved my dad to Fir Trees to be near family as he has lived in Wales for the past thirty years. His wife (my step mum) had also recently passed away. My dad has settled really well and everybody has been so kind and made him and us, as a family, very welcome. All the staff look after him and nothing is too much trouble. He especially likes the cakes and puddings.
I was wary of putting my gran in a care home after hearing so many horror stories but knew Fir Trees would be different from our first visit. The home is extremely clean, the staff are warm and welcoming and can't do enough to help gran. She is happy and well looked after and it's so lovely to see her happy face when I visit.
Both my mum and dad were residents at Fir Trees. Unfortunately, my dad passed away in August and all the staff were brilliant through that difficult time. I cannot praise all the carers enough. They took my mum to dad's funeral and cared for her throughout. Thank you all at Fir Trees.
Whilst our Mum's admission to Fir Trees was very sudden, due to her husband and main carer dying unexpectedly, she has settled very well. This can only be attributed to the amazing team of staff who look after her with dedication, professionalism and above all a caring approach. Nothing is ever too much trouble and has always given us the utmost confidence that in our absence she is in the safest of hands. Her stay up to this point has not always been smooth, with her requiring hospitalisation when she developed sudden heart failure. When she was eventually discharged, she had lost a great deal of weight, developed a huge sacral pressure sore and lost her mobility. However, as a direct result of the amazing care and attention, as well as the lovely food she has received from the staff she is now back to her original mobility and her pressure sore is healed. I asked our mum for her opinion, to which she replied, "they can't do enough for me".
My dad had to go into a care home. I didn't want him to but he had Vascular Dementia and I was finding it very hard to cope at home. From the moment I went to view it, I knew this was the one. I was greeted and shown around, the staff were so friendly, so I agreed! Hence dad went in 17th February 2022 .. he had eleven fabulous weeks there, they looked after him like he was one of their own family, right from getting up to going to bed. The meals were excellent nothing was too much trouble to ask for. As dad's Dementia progressed his meals had to be done special, and once again fabulous. If dad wanted a lie in then he would have a lie in every resident is treated the same. This care home let me become his daughter for eleven weeks and not the carer with whom I was at home. My dad absolutely loved the staff and had many a joke with them. Unfortunately, Vascular Dementia got the better of him and dad passed away very peacefully on 10th May 2022. I thank them so much.
My grandad moved into this home a couple of months ago. The management and staff have been brilliant and reassured me. Its a really friendly home and has an inviting feel to it. My grandad brought me up so he is like a dad to me so it means a lot that I make sure he receives the care he gave me. I would highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a care home. The manager and deputy manager take the time to answer any worries you might have before moving in.
After taking the heartbreaking decision to get a third-party involved in Dads care due to dementia we were directed to Fir Trees. Dad has thrived whilst in their care. This is due to the care and dedication of the staff. Everyone knows Dads name there’s always a kind friendly face guiding him through his day. The staff are also very accommodating. Dad has a homely spacious ensuite room with a TV which he can come and go to as he pleases. The communal areas are always clean and tidy. Dad enjoys the lounge room where he is able to take part in the activities. There is a garden to at Fir Trees which is a big plus for Dad as he loves being outside. The management team are always willing to listen and do their utmost to help and put the family at ease with any concerns. A visit is only a phone call away. Fir Trees allows us to be daughters again and has given Dad an extended family that can be there 24/7 for that we thank them.
My mum was a resident at Fir Trees care home for 5 weeks short of 5 years when she passed away peacefully at the home on the 6th of October. Throughout mum’s time at the home, her care was to the highest standard, staff was always showing empathy, polite and professional at all times. Mum’s bedroom was always spotlessly clean, bright and airy as are all areas at Fir Trees i.e. dining rooms, communal lounges, etc. As mum’s dementia progressed, I was always kept informed on how things were going, if I had any questions regarding her health there was always somebody available to put my mind at rest either in person or on the phone. Fir Trees was recommended to me by a friend whose mum is a resident there still, everything she told me about the home has proven to be right, it is a hard decision when a parent has to go into permanent care but when you know they are being looked after by a kind, dedicated, experienced team, it makes decision a whole lot easier and you have peace of mind.
My Mum moved into Fir Trees in March after being in assisted living, we were concerned about how she would adjust, after having her own flat, however, she has flourished at Fir Trees. She looks like a different woman, previously she had been in and out of hospital numerous times in a few months, since being at Fir Trees there have been no visits needed. She is very happy, the staff are amazing and even as a very picky eater, she loves the food. The communication from the staff is excellent, we are informed of updates, have regular reviews and through lockdown. They have done their best to keep everyone safe but also not feeling isolated. Best decision ever, I have the confidence she is safe and happy.
My mum has been in Fir Trees for over 3 years, I find the staff very caring and mum is looked after very well. She has dementia and can be awkward at times but the staff are lovely and patient with her. I would highly recommend this home.
I am confident that my father is well cared for at Fir Trees. Every member of staff that I have met or spoken to has been friendly, professional and caring with my father and even me! I have no issues with Communication, whenever there has been any medical, problems I am contacted immediately.
