View Full Details of Bickham HouseI am very pleased with the kind supportive care shown to my mum who is currently living at Bickham House. There are always staff on hand for all the residents needs, which they attend to in a friendly and professional manner. Throughout the week there are various activities, quizzes and music, which the residents can join in with. Overall, Bickham has a very welcoming and homely atmosphere for both residents and their visitors.
My mother has lived at Bickham House for six years. She has always been happy there. She loved her rooms and the staff and thought the food was wonderful. My mother has had Alzheimer's disease for the last three years, she was always cared for kindly and with dignity in December 2024. She had a bad stroke and went to hospital. The manager agreed that Mum could remain and was cared for lovingly and carefully by the excellent staff. I couldn't have wished for better care. At the end, she was able to pass away in her own bed, cared for by staff she knew. I was treated with love and compassion. Words cannot express our thanks. Bickham House, management and staff are excellent.
We are absolutely delighted with the care and compassion shown to Mum and the rest of the family since Mum moved to Bickham House. All of the staff go above and beyond to ensure that Mum is cared for and comfortable. The atmosphere at Bickham is delightful and the food is exceptional. I couldn't recommend Bickham more highly.
Dad has Alzheimer's and moved to Bickham House from hospital/his own flat. Dad has settled in extremely well and is happy there. I find all the staff very approachable and they work very hard to look after all the residents in a cheerful, kind and caring way. We really appreciate this. There is a family atmosphere and it feels like a home. The food is great, Dad seems to really enjoy his meals. There are activities every day and a lovely, newly refurbished lounge to sit in. Dad is always clean and dressed.
Bickham House has provided first-rate care and support for my mother over a year period. Staff and management combine a strong sense of duty with genuine compassion for the residents. Food is cooked on the premises and the wonderful terrace and gardens provide tranquility.
Good communication. Very caring. Happy that my wife is here.
My father has been at Bickham for just over 3 years. It's been a happy place for him and my sister and I have been very pleased with his experience here and how he has been settled, looked after and always he has been treated extremely well. The home is very caring and our father has been deemed to be one of the family. The home is very homely, friendly and we recommend it very highly.
Very well-run care home, in a beautiful old building. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble, lovely meals given.
Very friendly staff and good food.
We feel very lucky that we managed to place both of our parents in Bickham House Care Home. Their individual needs are rather complex. Mum has advanced Parkinson's disease and Dad cannot walk after a stroke. The staff make every effort to understand and meet these needs. My parents are very happy. The building itself and gardens are beautiful and the food is excellent but overall, it's the staff who go above and beyond that make Bickham House a truly exceptional care home.
Bickham House and its staff are the best. Mum has been there for over five years, and it has made such a difference to all our lives - we dont have to worry about Mum being on her own; she is looked after so well and is happy.
My sister has resided at Bickham House for nearly one year now. She has settled well and very much enjoys the food. The staff are wonderful and treat all the residents with dignity and respect. Her room is warm and comfortable and very homely, with some of her own furniture and other treasured possessions.
My mother is settled at Bickham House and is kept well by all the staff who are friendly and attentive. She has the option of staying in her room and sitting in the lounge when she wishes. She takes advantage of this option. Meal times are the ideal time to sit with friends and talk together. The atmosphere in Bickham House is happy and friendly and my mother is happy here.
The best thing about this care home is the staff. I am always greeted courteously by any member of staff with a happy smiling face. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and in my experience, they always treat the residents with dignity and respect. The food is freshly cooked and looks delicious. Mum has settled in better than I could have hoped and she enjoyed the camaraderie.
Mum came to stay at Bickham House following a series of falls in her own home and, after discussing at length with the senior staff, she decided to stay. It’s a lovely homely home, with an excellent senior team, and kind and friendly carers. We feel reassured that mum is safe and treated with dignity. She has the freedom to do her own thing but has help whenever she needs it. The food is very good with plenty of choices, and the chef is happy to accommodate lateness if we’ve been out to an appointment, or just out for fun. I’d definitely recommend Bickham House to anyone thinking of moving into residential accommodation.
My gran moved into Bickham House at the beginning of this year. We were constantly worried when she was home alone. Bickham House has enabled us to not worry as much because we know someone is always there. My gran has settled in so much and the carers are amazing, not just with my gran but everyone else too. We couldn't ask for more.
With support, Mum had been able to stay in her own home until in her middle 90's when we realised we needed to find a residential home that offered her a caring and calm atmosphere that would look after her and recognise her individuality. At Bickham House, we feel she immediately felt comfortable. Now two years later, Mum is ageing, hindered with poor sight, hearing and mobility, but the staff are able to bring a smile to her face, to sit and chat. Importantly they have built up relationships with her and understand that some days are better for her than others. She still enjoys "pulling their legs" and showing her sense of humour. Christmas is a very special time to the residents, with the house decorated, craft sessions, carols, entertainment and mince pies. As a family, different members popped in at random times. They were always offered refreshments, welcomed and invited to join in with the activity or entertainment that was going on at that moment.
We love Bickham House! The staff are amazing - they are kind, caring and compassionate, and are all brilliant at keeping a sense of humour whilst maintaining everyone's dignity. They really go the extra mile and try to accommodate everyone's special needs and requests. I love the way that staff have the time to sit and chat to residents - it makes all the difference between a functional care home and somewhere where you feel at home! Our friend came here two years ago (in her late nineties) after a fall and decided to stay - she feels safe, valued and loved. Thank you to all at Bickham.
My mother receives the best care possible. It was daunting looking for a residential home for the first time in November as we needed somewhere that we all felt was right as a family. The moment you walk into the home, you feel at ease. The staff are lovely and the management go above and beyond to ensure my mothers quality of life is the best it can be. I would 100% recommend Bickham House. It is a home from home and we couldn’t ask for more.
The staff are excellent at Bickham House: friendly, cheerful and always treating my mother with care and dignity. She always says how good the food is and her room is pleasant. The only problem I notice is that there are few activities actually taking place. They often seem to be planned and then cancelled. Overall though, the standard of care seems very good.
