View Full Details of HandsworthMy father was living independently feeling lonely & anxious trying to manage his health, medication & wellbeing. He felt resigned into moving into a care home saying he had no choice so we feared it may be unsettling for him. With the support of all the staff he is feeling more relaxed & confident each day. To quote his words "I couldn't be in a better place. The staff can't do enough for me, they are all absolutely wonderful & the food is really good"
From my first tour and enquiries through to dad moving in and first couple of weeks, the staff/managers have all been so lovely. Everyone is cheerful, kind and caring. Dad loves the food, his room, the garden and the staff. It's clean, warm and welcoming in a lovely quiet area with nice views. Couldn't have found a better place for dad and he is settling in well. When we take him out for lunch he wants to get back in plenty of time for meals.
MHA Handsworth is quite honestly the most homely of care homes. Spacious dining room, lounge, new hair salon and library supplemented by a beautiful garden. However the outstanding feature is the amazing team who work there. They are so kind, caring and really go the extra mile for the residents. My father has been there over two and a half years and we honestly think he couldn't be anywhere better. We would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone needing care for their family or friends.
The outstanding care and love that my sister received whilst having respite care at Handsworth was just wonderful. She has come home with so many memories of a lovely stay, the enjoyment of the activities, her choice of food from a delicious menu and overall the time spent with the staff and other residents. She was nervous to stay and I was nervous to leave her but within minutes of taking her there she was smiling and chatting away to staff and I just felt so confident and trusting of her care. She looked so happy and cared for when I picked her up. It was obvious that to the staff nothing was too much trouble. The lovely outcome is our collective trust in Handsworth and the knowledge that my sister is happy to stay again, which means I can be sure of having respite breaks in the future. I wouldn't mind a stay at Handsworth myself! Huge thanks to everybody involved in her care.
Thank you to all the staff at Handsworth Care Home for looking after my Mum with such kindness. I have felt that every one of you has worked beyond what is expected in providing care for my Mum. The surroundings have always been pleasant, clean and warm. Mum has always looked well dressed and well looked after. I have always felt that she has been in very safe and caring hands. There were plenty of activities going on and many caring hands to help her. She has been treated with dignity at a very difficult time in her life. Thanks again.
There are seriously not enough stars to rate the phenomenal care the staff and the facilities Handsworth provide for their residents. Trying to find the perfect home for my friend was a daunting task until I contacted Handsworth, from initial contact to enquire regarding a room to my friend being welcomed into Handsworth was seamless, the atmosphere in Handsworth is homely, safe and loving. To leave a lifetime home to begin a new life in a new home is a heart-wrenching decision to make, but all the staff have made my friend feel at home and are encouraging him to enjoy the start of his new adventure in life, I cannot begin to thank you all enough for your meticulous attention, outstanding care, support and love shown to my friend, his friends and family, you are all an absolute credit to Handsworth and beautiful people, much love.
We as a family, cannot express our appreciation regarding the level of care and kindness, received by our brother whilst a resident at Handsworth care home. We were particularly grateful for the speedy and timely decision to offer our brother accommodation when he was most in need. Words cannot fully express our gratitude, thank you. All staff offered an exceptional level of care, warmth, understanding and commitment that would be hard to surpass. We were confident that our brother was well looked after and safe, what more could anyone ask for a loved member of their family. Your support meant the world to us and will not be forgotten.
Excellent care, support and understanding from all members of staff and management. We thank Handsworth so much for the care they gave to my brother while he was there. He was all treated with respect. Thank you all.
I have been a regular visitor at Handsworth since 2018 when my friend became a resident. He passed away in 2019 but I continued visiting as I had built up a great relationship with other residents and the staff. In October 2023 I was visiting and there wasn't a parking space on the grounds so I parked on the road outside. After the visit, I was a little hemmed in and in trying to go forward and reverse out of the space, I managed to lose control and crash through a neighbour's garden wall. There must have been a lot of noise, as staff members (deputy manager) and the lady from the laundry were at the forefront of rescuing me as steam and smoke billowed from the engine. I was hemmed in by a tree on my side so the girls and others managed to get me free via the passenger door. No mean feat due to my own mobility issues. Handsworth phoned the emergency services and my family and looked after me very well. Handsworth were simply amazing. I can't thank them enough. I still visit - now carless!
Clean spacious facilities. Very large lounge and dining room. Good support staff and well-cooked meals. Rooms have en-suite. Regular events are held. Outstanding gardens and facilities therein. Good car park and is set in a quiet location.
Handsworth is everything and more that families would want for the care of their loved ones the time my Mum has been resident here has been a most amazing and humbling experience. The staff have given their all to make Mum comfortable from day one. She arrived here at the age of 101 in reasonable health for her age but with very limited sight. Her need for end of life care began at the beginning of June 2023. Mum could not have been better cared for at this difficult time, the team here have made enormous efforts to make Mum comfortable from day one. They have been just as kind and caring to myself and my 2 sisters. The organisation its staff and management are a shining example of what can be achieved in caring for older people during and at the end of their lives. The humanity and respect for those in their care has been remarkable. On behalf of my sisters and our families I want to say that we will be forever grateful to Handsworth for their professional, tender loving care for Mum.
My father spent the last two years of his life at Handsworth, he arrived during lockdown so our first impressions were a bit unusual! He had been more or less housebound for a long time and had problems with his short-term memory, but settled quickly and was soon happier than he had been for a long time. I cannot fault the kindness and care he received at Handsworth. I found the staff endlessly compassionate and cheerful in what must have been the most trying of circumstances. As for facilities, food, etc all are top notch. But I would like to say a special thank you to all the staff and management for their unstinting efforts to keep the residents engaged and stimulated with so many activities and special days, you just have to look at the social media page to see happy, smiling people enjoying themselves. Kindness, care, dignity, respect and fun, I don’t think you can ask for much more than that. Thank you.
Handsworth has been my mums home for the past eight years. The wonderful staff became her family caring for her to the highest standards especially during the pandemic when we weren’t able to visit her. We were constantly kept informed of any changes in mums health which was so reassuring. The staff all embraced mums sometimes brusque personality and managed to get rare smiles from her when I couldn’t. Sadly mum passed away very recently. The manager and staff made it possible for us to spend mums final days with her at her bedside. The care, compassion and kindness we received from everyone at Handsworth will stay with me forever. Thank you team Handsworth from the bottom of my heart.
Handsworth Care Home is wonderful! My father spent two very happy years there, cared for with love, kindness, patience and compassion. I will be thankful for how he was treated for the rest of my life. I couldn't have asked for more for him. All the staff - and I, including the catering staff, the admin staff and the laundry staff, along with the carers - are unfailingly cheerful and good-humoured. My dad had severe short-term memory problems, so couldn't always recognise the faces of the people who looked after him, but he always knew that he was loved. I couldn't be with him much, as I live so far away, but I knew that he was happy. The garden, the parties and celebrations, the visits from puppies and even little chicks - there is so much going on at Handsworth, which is fantastic. But in the end, it comes back to the lovely people who work there that make it so special. Thank you for looking after my dad how I would have liked to look after him myself.
I had a legal power of attorney for a lady who has just passed away after almost five years in Handsworth. It was not easy to decide on the right place for her final years but I am pleased that my first impressions have been confirmed. The professionalism and humanity of all staff, in particular the management team, has been consistently exemplary. In the first years the stimulation and companionship was well judged, but as faculties and mobility faded, the close care and compassion was impressive. The provision of a special bed was appreciated. Through the covid period and during her final weeks the management showed an important flexibility and understanding of the needs of relatives. I am totally satisfied that I made the right decision to select Handsworth for my charges final years. Thank you.
My uncle lived independently in his own home until 100 years of age. We were concerned that he would not settle in a care home. Handsworth has become his home, where he is treated with kindness and dignity. It is a caring, happy environment because of the dedicated and loving members of staff who have a lovely manager. He loved his garden and the staff ensure that he sits in the conservatory and when the weather is good we visit him in the garden. The staff communicate well with us, his family and we are confident that my uncle could not be anywhere better.
My mother was resident at Handsworth for over 12 years and throughout that time she was treated very well and with dignity. The staff there have always been exceptional and I cannot commend them high enough for their care of my mother.
I've been visiting my relative in Handsworth for over 18 months now and feel that he is receiving good care. It's been a difficult time with Covid and all the necessary restrictions but I have always felt welcome whenever I have visited. There is always a happy and friendly atmosphere amongst the staff and residents and it makes it a good place to be. The staff, at All levels, are the 'shining light' in this home - always helpful, very caring and doing a great job in these trying times.
Earlier this year my husband and I had to make a very difficult decision to put Mum in a home for her own safety. From day one the manager of this beautiful home and her amazing staff made us and Mum very welcome. They not only gave us comfort in the knowledge that Mum was now safe but they really took care of Mum and cared for her in such a lovely way with dignity and respect. I would highly recommend Handsworth House to anybody facing this very delicate matter with relatives or loved ones and to speak to the manager and you will feel instant warmth. As I can’t thank you all personally at Handsworth I’m taking this opportunity to thank everyone as you all play a very important role. Great job, great team and thank you.
I volunteer here with the pianist who plays the piano and the residents sing along or listen. I am always struck by how much care and effort goes into making the sessions fun on the part of the staff. The home has a lovely atmosphere and so many small touches to make the place feel special.
