View Full Details of Oldfield BankMy relative was very depressed during lockdown and his mild dementia became much more severe. He was unhappy in the first home we tried and two homes refused to have him because he wandered. I am full of praise for the staff at Oldfield Bank they are not phased by anything. They are kind and the atmosphere is very relaxed and happy. They communicate with us well and they know just how to keep him happy and occupied which has not been easy. He enjoys the days out which are organised and is happier than he has been for the past few years.
I have found all the staff and management at Oldfield Bank to be friendly, caring and helpful and appreciate them for keeping me informed of any matter affecting my father's care as they arise. Being an older property, it is full of character and makes for a relaxing environment from what I have seen and my father tells me he likes his room. Compared to the previous care home, Oldfield Bank has proved to be excellent, which I fully appreciate and would recommend as a good home for an elderly relative needing care.
Oldfield Bank care home serves all my husband's needs. Carers are professional and are dedicated to the wellbeing of all the residents. All carers are helpful and friendly and welcome me whenever I visit. My husband is happy being here and always in good spirits. I have missed my husband so much because of lockdown but I phoned regularly and the carers were always happy to discuss my husband's care and wellbeing. I always know he is in good hands.
Over the years, I have visited a good number of care and nursing homes to see friends from church or club that I've been a member of. When my friend (who with her late husband I've known for fifty years) had to be admitted to a care home, after being in and out of hospital over 3 1/2 years, I was given a list of homes in the area that had a vacancy, to inspect which I did. When I visited Oldfield Bank, to me it had a good homely feel, with friendly care, the carers spending time the residents as required. There is a good varied menu, singers, music and other visitors to entertain and the summer residents can sit in the garden.
The home was recommended by a friend whose granny had been a resident. Not a "shining new" purpose built corporate style home, but that is a big plus for me. Much more personal and you feel people really do live there as their home not just numbers in a big business. Great committed delightful staff who seem genuinely to love their jobs of looking after the elderly. Really compassionate and caring at the end. Book me a place in 30 years time!
Mum has been a resident since October 2015. The staff are extremely caring, nothing is too much trouble. Family and friends who visit comment on the warm and friendly atmosphere and on the welcome they receive. Mum is very well cared for and happy and contented. I would not hesitate to recommend this home.
We believe our auntie was well cared for and treated with dignity. Prior to her becoming increasingly confused and clearly suffering from dementia, she always spoke well of the home and the carers and was comfortable. She also always mentioned that the food and company were enjoyable. In her final years and months, the quality of care remained high and we are grateful to all concerned.
My husband spent nearly 3 years at Oldfield Bank. He was well looked after and despite being difficult at times, the staff showed immense patience with him. In his final week the love, care and dignity given to him was over and above the call of duty. I remain extremely grateful that he had a 'good' death.
An excellent care home. My problem is my mother does not have dementia and therefore struggles living in the environment. It would be great to have a separate social area but I feel not possible, too few staff in my opinion and when stretched has an emotional effect on my mother. All the carers give a superb service. Food quality and variety could be improved but again difficult with the types of residents in care. My conclusion is 5-star care but always ways to improve.
My aunt arrived at Oldfield Bank three years ago in a frail condition, not being able to look after herself at home. Within months she had put weight on and became stronger in herself due to the care and attention she received every day. She has told me she is very happy being there and the staff are very friendly and helpful. It was a good decision for her to move there.
