View Full Details of LakelandsAs I live abroad it is difficult to visit my father, however the staff are excellent at keeping me informed of the situation with dad. The staff give dad wonderful care and as his dementia is getting ever worse they really look after his needs. I am so pleased he his at Lakelands.
Staff are polite and always helpful. They seem to genuinely care about residents. I find them supportive towards me also, as it's difficult at times to watch dementia steal my mum away day by day. Mum does not have a bad word to say about staff or care home facilities. She likes the food, although can rarely tell me what she has had. She likes the activities too, she likes bingo and singalong the most. I am grateful that she has the opportunity to get her hair cut and have her nails done, a little luxury. I found it very hard when mum first went to live in a care home but now I know she is safe, content, with 24 support. She is content which is comforting for me. Thank you for your service, it is appreciated.
My dad is a resident here. He loves it, it's clean and very comfortable. The staff are amazing they treat him like he's part of their family. The atmosphere is lovely always very welcoming when we visit. Overall view dad is happy and we know as his family he's in good caring hands.
This review would have had more stars because the home is lovely, warm and clean. On the whole staff are attentive and the food seems lovely and the entertainment and therapy seems good. Dad seems really happy there and I am generally confident in his care and treatment. However, in February when my dad nosedived health wise for a while, I wasn't entirely happy with the attitude of staff who even seemed to think his health issues were dad acting. I was not kept up to date with any medical visits or change in medicine and got to know about an appointment I needed to take dad to at 9.00pm the night before.
My Mother has never looked so well, the care she gets is so good. Before becoming a resident here she wasn't eating nourishing food and wasn't able to do much for herself, She loves the food. She is now integrating with people and has something to get up for each day. The hairdresser comes every week which is great for Mum. The only problem I have is that she doesn't like to ask for anything if she needs it. She thinks the staff are too busy to ask them which I have explained that she must do. She has needed to see a doctor and has had to wait a while as well as the chiropodist. Hopefully she has now been sorted. Everyone is very approachable if we need to ask anything. Me as a daughter can now relax knowing that she is being well cared for and not dreading getting a phone call from the emergency services.
My mum came to Lakelands in September, The manager was brilliant with all correspondences prior to my mums stay. We were given a choice of room upon arrival and my mum chose the one she wanted. The manager is an amazing manager and listens to the residents and family's with any concerns or if you have any questions. My mum is now settled in the home, most staff are amazing with her, she is cared for in every way the nurses are amazing with her. They are brilliant with her hygiene needs and nutrition and her room is always spotless. This transition for my mum and us as a family was very difficult but the staff were and always are there to help and to give support. Lakelands is a very good residential/nursing home from what we have experienced so far and I've even given the name of this home to family's with their own issues about their loved ones. The activities team are also amazing with their creative ideas they provide to entertain your loved ones.
I feel that my mum is well cared for and the care workers are friendly and helpful. When my mum broke her hip the care workers got her to hospital straight away, the hospital said she hadn't broken her hip and sent her back to the home twice but the care workers didn't give up and sent for ambulance again and she had broke her hip.
My Nan has always been cared for and very well looked after since moving into Lakelands. At first I was very skeptical about the decision to move her into a home but now I know we 100% made the correct decision as the staff care for my Nan like there own and spend the hours with her that we would never be able to do as a family. The only thing I would say is that they probably do need more staff. I'm not saying the staff they have now aren't capable as that is not the case. They are very hard working but over worked and if a resident needs hospital care they do ask family to go with there family member as they don't have the staff to do this but it's not always possible for family members to help because of work or child commitments, hence why there relative is in a care home in the first place. But over all this is a brilliant little care home with the best bunch of care givers.
My dad entered Lakelands for respite three months ago, thankfully, he's now a permanent resident. The care he receives is excellent, the staff are friendly, approachable, compassionate and treat residents with care and dignity. I now have peace of mind knowing Dad is looked after and cared for. The rooms are clean and cosy. The garden area, currently having a new gazebo built, is a lovely social space to sit in and enjoy. The dining room is welcoming and serves freshly cooked, traditional food. There are regular planned activities including armchair exercises, visiting singers, bingo etc. There's always music and a warm welcome. No resident has to be lonely due to the large lounges. I enjoy visiting Dad as there's always a warm welcome and a lovely atmosphere. Best bit? The staff! They're fabulous!
The staff, rooms and food overall excellent. My husband is looked after brilliantly. Hope he will be here permanently, as I know he will be cared for very well.
A lovely and caring care home. All the staff are very good, all lovely with my mum, meeting all her needs, always patient and kind.
Lovely place, with lots going on. The residents and the staff are really nice and looked after mum for the 12 months she was there. The only fault is the lack of compassion shown when mum went into hospital after becoming ill, they just decided mum now needed more care and refused to take her back and wanted her room emptied ASAP, leaving a poorly elderly lady with nowhere to go. Pretty heartless really but apparently it's ok to do that.
We used Lakelands for a respite break for my mum who has mixed dementia. This was her first stay at Landlands and it went very well. She clearly enjoyed her stay and the staff and managers were all pleasant and welcoming, you got the sense that this was a good place to work, and this led to a caring environment. We would definitely use Lakelands again.
Absolutely fantastic care home, this is the 3rd we have used for our mum. It's extremely clean. All the staff from the managers, care assistants, and cleaners so friendly. I also noticed all the residents are always smiling and happy. I really recommend this care home for anybody in a sad situation if needed to use one. This home will take an awful lot of stress off the family.
The Lakelands is a fantastic home where the staff are extremely kind, considerate and respectful. The care is excellent and the home is beautiful and efficiently run. My mum is very happy there and always has been.
The care and compassion given throughout the past 12 months since my mum was admitted to the care home have been excellent. During this time my mum has had covid and was cared for in a professional way on both occasions. The home kept me informed of her progress throughout. I keep regular contact with mum via facetime (as I live in Cornwall). The carers are always very helpful to set this up for my mum so we can have a good chat together. When I have visited the home it is clean and tidy, my mum is clean and tidy and well looked after. Mum says she is happy in the home and I am grateful for the care that she receives and thank the staff for their continued care.
MY mum was extremely well cared for at Lakelands. The staff went above and beyond to ensure mum was settled and comfortable. Mum especially enjoyed the activities the team provided.
My dad recently went into the care home beginning of March, I came from Canada to visit for three weeks. After visiting my dad each day my thoughts, experience and visits to the home helped me knowing that my dad was in good hands and will be provided with the care he deserves. All the staff that I chatted with from cleaning to nursing staff were very friendly and caring and most of all genuinely cared for my dad and other residents which made me feel so much more at ease. I love and miss my dad and broke my heart leaving him but my visits and getting to know the staff made it much easier to leave knowing he is in good hands. Thank you Lakeland staff it was a pleasure meeting you all.
The care mum receives is excellent. The staff are very friendly and always happy to help. Mum looks well in herself and is free from the anxiety that Alzheimer's causes. During covid, the home have provided excellent visiting opportunities for loved ones. 'The Pod' visits have been much appreciated allowing the family to see mum during the pandemic. Thank you.
The staff are amazing, friendly and caring. The home is also very clean - never smells. Mum is always clean and presentable. Mum also has won games and obviously interacts in games etc, which is fabulous to hear that your loved one is enjoying and joining in, especially with an Alzheimer's diagnosis.
